You know I think I remember someone mentioning Star Trek in the last couple dozen pages. Now I'm almost as big a Star Trek nerd as I am Star Wars geek and Mass Effect geek. So something just occurred to me about the ending(s). In Mass Effect 3 we went from a universe where something along the Vulcan IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) where it was our differences which made us strong, to the only way for peace was to all be the same.

I really have to stop thinking about the ending(s).

Speaking of bars and drinks in the game. Anyone notice that in Mass Effect 2 you get three bars each with their own little side story and all. Yet in Mass Effect 3 you just get the one bar that already had the drink lying out for you? There's no Ryncol hangovers. No poision attempts. No Matriarch Aethyta.

They give you one Hub world, but they can't even bother to actually flesh it out.

That's because Matriarch Aethyta was on the Presidum serving drinks and keeping an eye on her daughter for the Matriachs back home.

Oh I know. I'm just saying there was indeed something that came with each bar. And I really liked that. There's a lot of detail with small things in there. That bit where the Batarian bartender tries to kill you, and you manage to survive with the option to now force him to choke on his own poison... that was awesome. For as short as that sequence was, it was immensely gratifying. Similar things were near absent in ME3

The only thing you get is those stupid situations where you eavesdrop on two people arguing, and then pick a side. There's absolutely nothing to them, and they don't give you a chance to shape you character as your own. Almost nothing in this game does.

And I do give them credit for following through on the setup from the Aethyla storyline from ME2, but it's only one of a few they bothered with.

On the plus side. It made the whole side quest thing more streamlined. I had less clicking to do and it felt more natural in some cases. On illium you had people randonly baring as you went by and you found stuff on the loyalty missing that went with that person. Same thing, but in this case you got the reminder before you completed the loyalty mission and forgot to pick up the widget.

In some cases it would have been better to interact with the person.

As for Aethyla, I would wander by that area just to hear their interactions.

Javik pretty much tells you diversity is the correct way, in his cycle diversity was not tolerated, it was the prothean way or no way, he states this was their weakness, too predictable.

What I was saying is that those little "pick a side" dealies are only among a small number of interactions within the game. On their own, they don't offer anything to the immersion into the game. In ME2 you got so many situations where you actually talked to and had conversations with people. You got insight on their problems with a logical progression in the form of a Q & A session. And then proceeded to solve those problems conclusively.

How many times does this happen in ME3? In ME2's case streamlined most often meant streamlined, offering efficency and such where possible. But it ME3, "Streamlined" it's just code for "cut-out large amounts of content out of the game"

So no one is talking about the Pro ME charity going on for Child's Play? I expected more outrage over an obvious bias.
