Agree.  Too short a beginning.  Lack of proper side quests (bored with MP type quests/go and fetch).  Lack of squad members (seriously why no Grunt), lack of HUB worlds (oh look running round the Citadel again) and sadly I could go on and on.

I stayed away from the forum pre release as I didn't want to accidently pick up spoilers.  So I had in my head this expectation of ME3 was going to be this huge massive game that beats ME1 and 2 together.  Oh well Enhanced Edition in 2yrs time lol.

One piece of news I knew beforehand was the one about the squadmates. At the time I got into an argument with someone about how I thought the decision was incredibly lazy, and the other guy said I was being way to harsh without playing the game. That they obviously had a plan to work all the characters into the game, and that for me to call them lazy was blasphemy. My response was that I was calling them lazy only for dropping the squad, not for the game on the whole. At the time I was thinking about all the effort they were putting into branching storylines and the such, and how consuming that would have to be to work with that.... and then I played the game, only to find out they didn't bother putting a single fork in the story's road... /facepalm Bioware. This is what I guess I get for having faith in them. How could they release this game without implementing the decisions we made in the first two? This wasn't even a fear of mine before I started playing, because the idea that they'd release the game without implementing those decisions properly seemed just absurd to me. At the time.

Actually by the time the game came out I had seen the amazing trailers, seen all the near perfect review scores, and played the demo (though the intro level was jarring I had assumed it would solve itself immediately afterwards, lol). It's not that I thought the game could/should be amazing, I was in the mindset that this game is in fact amazing... And then I played the game for myself. Over the period of my playthrough, the game did nothing but disprove that notion on it's own.

I would atm believe in Sherlock Holmes if it gave me the phone 
It reminds me of this ending, I'm begging a service provider to let me throw my money at them, and still they refuse to take it.
