The reapers were originally based on the Inhibitors from Alistair Reynolds' series. Instead of existing to move the galaxy in order to avoid it colliding with another galaxy in a billion years (AR series) they were originally going to be wiping out civilized life due to Dark Matter.

Dark Matter - NOT Technical Singularity.

This changed when Drew Left. So it was not in ME1 at all.

Sounds like it lingered on in ME2 -- see Haestrom, etc.

A good old classic. Pretty much my reaction if the endings are going to be the ones we know

You are absolutely right. We do not know how the rest of the stuff plays out, because BioWare can't render the actual endings where Shepard walks around because then you need the in-game Engine. Lots of things in this thread is conjecture because we only know clips...and not the entire ending.

Noone has said that Shepard walks around in any ending, since well, he's dead in all but one and after that movie, nothing happens I guess or credits.

I can't believe they're tying Shep's fate to the damn fish...

The fish secretly rewrites Joker's mind to NOT try to outrun the blast and reprogramms the relays so they can be saved. Yup. That doesn't sound crazy at all.

The way ME2 was set up, I was also led to believe Dark Matter was going to be important.

There could be cinematics using the in-game engine that cannot be datamined. I guess the dialog would be there to be found though, if those scenes do have dialog.

Only a few more days until the storm hits... Is it wise to just sit on BSN with some popcorn and wait?

That's pretty much what I plan to do.

It's just a video game. Life goes on. It will come and pass. Pretty soon, ME4 will be announced, and many of us will be jumping for joy once again.

Only those of us who haven't learned from DA2 and ME3.

Bioware is gone, all that's left is an empty husk, a name and an old rep and some IP for EA to milk until it runs dry with worthless extruded sequels, and then discard.

1 bad game (That got high reviews from a lot of critics) and a game that isn't out yet, and Bioware is automatically an "empty husk, and name and an old rep and some IP for EA to milk"?

DA2 did get high reviews....which later they recanted when the same critics said it was the biggest disappointment of 2011.

They can like the endings all you like but what is wrong with having a choice that shepard can be on the ship that crashes at the end how would that change if there is one more ending

HAHAHA. Can't wait to see the ending based ones some time after release; good brew and these will help cheer me up.

A data mined audio clip of Anderson talking to Shepard at what I assume is the game's end, so be warned:

Never heard that dialog mentioned by leakers, have you? So, like I've said... I'm not calling the endings fake, I'm saying wait and see how the full game is. We're not getting the full picture here, I'm quite certain.

There is a chance that they both could be - if it was a Day 1 unlock / download maneuver.  Maybe all the retail copies, or just the Space Editions, only unlock the better endings (or different endings) when they communicate with Bioware servers and the servers green light the endings.

That's pretty elaborate but here's hoping.  If not, be prepared for a backlash the likes of which will be passed down as a "lesson learned" regarding 1) managing customer expectations and 2) prostituting existing product to set the stage for follow-on products.  The kind so epic it is used as a business school case study.

I don't have any hope.

We're only getting Bioware's crapsack "artistic and grown-up" endings.

As for the backlash, let's hope it's not drowned out by high sales to EA's new target audience who will just choose the "all combat" setting and ignore the story completely in favor of MP so they can make it look like they're forcing their fallen foes to teabag them and their friends can yuck it up over xBox live while they have a Bud and say "dudebro" a lot.

At least I can come up with a good ending for my multiplayer character. They'll be safe on their homeworld before the relay's are destoryed. And a magic light won't be turing them into a cyborg either.

It takes place before the end, during final showdown with TIM.

People these days just can't wait and see (me included).

There is obviously more to the endings than what has been revealed. Even the most ardent haters in this thread should realize it by now.

What that "more" is, I don't know. But I'll see.
