This isn't about whether we're worth or owed more or less than these fans. Mainly, it appalls me that the gaming media and sometimes even companies are incapable of showing game players this same basic level of respect, instead treating them like children rather than rational people aware that they have bought something and aware that it isn't good enough. Gaming seems to be one of the last industries where it's acceptable to belittle the people who give you business. And that still puzzles me.
Sports teams do often own up to their shortcomings. In fact, I used an example of this earlier in the thread against Bioware as well. The funny thing is they do this, knowing their fans are completely loyal to them anyways. They just do it out of a responsibilty they feel for not performing up to the standards they should.
I agree that it's an absurd idea that these game developers are supposed to be somehow immune from recieving these complaints or having to be bothered to act on them. I don't like it when people say that we can't expect Bioware to admit they did something wrong here. Not even for them to outright say that the ending was poor, but to at least acknowledge that the fans may have a legitimate reason to be upset with what was given. You know, rather than sit on their high horse shouting claims of artistic integrity at all that dare to challenge.
Such a pretentious ass industry gaming is, if what Bioware's doing is not only acceptable, but actually encouraged.
