A data mined audio clip of Anderson talking to Shepard at what I assume is the game's end, so be warned:

Never heard that dialog mentioned by leakers, have you? So, like I've said... I'm not calling the endings fake, I'm saying wait and see how the full game is. We're not getting the full picture here, I'm quite certain.

It takes place before the end, during final showdown with TIM.

Fair enough. Still fair to say we're not getting the whole picture though, in my view.

Did you play the game?

If not, how do you arrive at that conclusion? The phrase "we did it" does not make sense if they haven't actually...you know...done it.

Edit: Unless it is right before the whole station crashes in the destoy ending.

Oh wow. That's so incredibly lame.

A kid? A kid with shoddy voice acting?
BW, what were you thinking?

Are you just saying this, or are they really closing the place down for ME3 launch?

Because if they are, that's just more proof that ME3 is going to be an even bigger letdown than DA2.

Oh, no, no, no. I was resigning myself to these endings but... No. The Catalyst is the God damned kid!?!  Wow. Just... Wow.  What did they use one voice for every friggin' child in the ME universe?  Even the epilogue kid had the same voice.

I think Mass Effect 3 will crush any hopes of games being on the level of movies and other forms of story telling

There is trouble with some of the codes for ME3, It was mentioned a few times here & there. Likely updates for other aspects of the franchise.

I think the ending with the boy and the old guy means that when the ship falling on the planet and part of the crew survived maybe all they start to live on this planet and the old guy is someone from the crew

There is obviously more to the endings than what has been revealed.

Edit:  Nevermind, if they've actually said there are problems with the codes.

It's glaringly clear. Even the guy whom most here consider the Truthsayer for all things ME3 (Xio), admits he liked the game. And most leaked sources agree that the endings are well done.

Only here, where we STILL only have incomplete information do people moan like there is no tomorrow.

Only a few more days until the storm hits... Is it wise to just sit on BSN with some popcorn and wait?

That's pretty much what I plan to do.

Perhaps most people like the ending, perhaps we are freaks indeed? :bandit:

I know BSN too well to believe this.

I'm not going to let any ending, bad or not, keep me from enjoying the game when it comes out.

Besides, with what few spoilers I've read (including some of the stuff about the ending), I feel as if it would only make sense in context, so I will not judge the endings until I face them in context.

And, remember, some of the greatest stories in history have had downer endings. And this series is basically about fighting Space-Cthulhu, so a happy ending wasn't going to be in the offing. Mere survival was always going to be best possible outcome, and there certainly wasn't going to be a "EVERYBODY LIVES" type of ending.

I wouldn't call billions of dead a "Everybody Lives" type of ending.
In my opinion the ending should be based on players skills/choices, but meh,,,

It wasn't Space Cthulu until ME3, when they got turned into spacemachinegods here to do terrible things to stop other terrible things from happening.  It's like Lovecraft forced himself on Legend of the Overfiend in the back room of an arthouse film theatre.

(And yes, I had to read the script of Legend of the Overfiend once... blaheahgh45asduijaa still need brain bleach.)

I wonder if there will be any management changes over this. No one will get fired (did anyone over DA2?), instead people just get reassigned. Casey and Mac will be two good ones to watch out for, if they get "promoted" to having less to do with the series six months from now.

The reapers were originally based on the Inhibitors from Alistair Reynolds' series. Instead of existing to move the galaxy in order to avoid it colliding with another galaxy in a billion years (AR series) they were originally going to be wiping out civilized life due to Dark Matter.

Dark Matter - NOT Technical Singularity.

This changed when Drew Left. So it was not in ME1 at all.

Sounds like it lingered on in ME2 -- see Haestrom, etc.

The way ME2 was set up, I was also led to believe Dark Matter was going to be important.

Ive read that Dark matter solution thing that was proposed, and frankly, as bad as this tech singularity explanation is, that thing would have been even worse. It makes no freaking sense at least to me in context of everything the last games explained. And if you think these endings were dark, try those in the dark matter one. If people get this upset over what we got now, the dark matter ones would have had them sink into uncurable depression.

I agree. I think people will be more accepting of the endings once they are taken into context.

Personally, as I have gained more knowledge about them, I find the endings not too shabby. However, the main complaint is that there isn't a diversity of endings and outcomes for the variety of choices present throughout all three games. It's as if the endings are thrust onto a player without any thought.

But if they don't railroad the ending, how can Bioware tell their epic awesome story?
[/sarcasm]

The mistake is trying to make games into movies -- a movie is a passive form of entertainment in which a story is presented to the viewer.

A game is an active form of entertainment in which the player needs a level of control.

Note the difference, Bioware.  Movies have viewers, games have players.  HUGE distinction.

This is so funny. I cannot stop laughing.

No wonder there are no happy endings. There don't need to be when fans will ****** this hard.

Looks like modding is the only hope after all since there'll be no financial reason for BW to fix anything themselves.

And it has become clear that EA is going to treat modding as cheating, given their reaction to people posting about modding the demo, etc.  Origin will be used in same way to lock the game if files have been modded, and bans will be issued for "cheating.

As I predicted when they crammed-on multiplayer.

David Jaffee was right at DICE when he said game developers should say F U to any sort of story and work on making games with fun game play . This clearly shows that games should be about the game play not the story
