First of all, this thread hasn't been on rails since page 1000, or so. DA2 was on rails. ME3 is on rails. But rails? We don't need rails.

You are also missing the warm sense of a fellowship.

Was reading the Chris Priestly put up on HTL. Like mentioned in the thread, I appreciate that he started the post by prefacing it with the quesion "What do you want?"

What I don't like is that he immediately follows it by saying "We have already said that there are no new endings and that the EC will (and I quote) "offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard's journey"."

All that does is work towards confirming my fears that we're going to be hit with that BS reunion scene. They keep downplaying the possibility of significant change of any kind. Well, outside of the Magic Happy Fun Time re-write of Destruction.

They do that and I can honestly say that I *may* do my other sheps to see the whole other LI thing, but I'll stop before the whole final battle. Even then it would be a long, long time before I pick it up again.

They have to realize that some people have over 100+ hours of Skyrim ahead of them and Diablo III is coming out next week. They just don't have time to put up with this BS. Likely the negative ME3 sentiment will impact DA3 pre-orders since the perception is currently Bethesda > Bioware.

Bioware: Sorry no mod kit for DA2.
Bethesda: Sure. Give us a couple months to whip one up.

You're all partly right. Don't forget, it's rEApers, so their fan base is almost solely comprised of husks smashing their keyboard. I think there's a Robobrain somewhere in there, too.

Bioware: Sorry no mod kit for DA2.
Bethesda: Sure. Give us a couple months to whip one up.

There's no way I could put Shepard through that again. I only have one Shepard. My planned Second and Third Shepards have been put on permanent hiatus after finally playing ME3, and are facing a likely cancellation when the EC inevitably sucks.

Bethesda >>> Bioware, at the very least with the effort being put in by both sides. Bethesda puts in 3-5.5 years, and gives us a 250+ hour game, with a great stock of varied sidequests, and an area map so large that the idea of even exploring it all is so very daunting. Bioware puts in 1.5 years and gives us a 30 hour long on the rails shooter, with 2 emotional moments, zero real sidequests or exploration, that didn't even try to live up to it's promise of taking 2 games worth of choices into account. I've simplified the hell out of the argument, but that's ultimately what it is. As it stands Skyrim makes Mass Effect 3 look like a chump's game.

Comparing Mass Effect 1, 2, or even Dragon Age Origins to Bethesda's games, I would've said "It's just a different kind of game". But with Mass Effect 3, and also Dragon Age 2, that lack of effort is way too evident. With Mass Effect 3, they were given the ultimate undertaking, to create the most immersive game, that both plays out  and ultimately resolves itself with a direct result of your actions. They had a plethora of decisions off the first two games that they could have decided to branch off of, but they chose none.

I would've been more willing to forgive Bioware for the ending if they accepted any sense of responsibility for it, but the arrogance shown makes it so much worse. As you mentioned, Bethesda had offered thos mod kits and allowed people to go wild and turn the game into whatever they want, to get whatever they want out of it. Yet Bioware says it will ban Origin accounts for those detected to be using any mods. It sets a contrast of who exactly each is making the games for, and why exactly they're making them.

There are a lot of things wrong with the gaming industry today, that's kind of one of the reasons we're all here. This just happened to be the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I don't know what will come of this, or what will happen with gaming as this continues, but at least we are starting to bring it to the attention of more than just the gaming industry.

Yup. The Robobrain is the only thing working in rEApers, and it's not even their own doing...

I hope there would be more broken camels. Like he says, there are more members of the gaming community than there are US soldiers, we should have more impact on the gaming industry, before it crumbles...

I am right there with you, I really hope we manage to make the impact and get the companies to take notice before we're all starting over from scratch.
