Aye... Technically we paid extra for the CE, but when I look at how much I spent on it, then it would have been more expensive to buy the standard version and the DLC...

I argue it as we just paid extra for the CE, rather than In Ashes. I myself paid the extra 20 bucks for the soundtrack alone cause I knew I'd get the use out of it. Making up the better part of 70 bucks on that alone, however, wasn't in the original plan....

The CE was 80, the SE plus DLC was 70.  Though given we did get several extras with the CE, that is what makes it a technicality.
*Edit* that's USD, keep forgetting I'm talking to people in multiple countries.

you did buy it   as part of the CE -package, as the rest of the package don't justify the 20$ more for the CE imho

... so you just payed the dollars for the dlc up front

Hehe  Well... I got a pretty good discount cause I pre-ordered it... Saved 200dkkr on it... Cost me 400... Standard + DLC would be around 430-450...
And if we're talking USD, it would be about 70 for the CE and about 80 for standard+DLC...

Well, I paid for the CE. All the previous NEW copies of the game had this kind of included character and missions. That's really the main shift here. Not that there is a Day 1 DLC character, but that the people not buyinf the CE are forced to buy it. It's a question of Greed Creep. Or put another way, EA seeing how much they can really get away with.

To my knowledge, Zaeed was a Day 1 DLC... But he was free if you just bought a new copy of the game... But when it comes to Javik... He's a major part of the story of Mass Effect, he's a Prothean for crying out loud! They were the mysterious race that made the Beacons! And he's not included in the story unless you pay an additional fee of cash-moneys...

Single player had a set budget, and Mp had a set budget, yes.

But if MP wasn't a factor, would single player have been given a bigger budget? That's the source of the problem.
They aren't going to treat it as an entirely different factor. EA isn't a black hole of infinite investment. They have a finite amount of resources.

If they hadn't set aside resources to be used for MP, isn't it logical that those resources would have been at least in theory, available for Single Player. They had to be thinking, well we need this much resources for Multi Player, so we need to set this aside for it. We need this for Single Player, so we'll set this aside for that.

if MP didn't exist, they wouldn't need to divide anything, it could have all gone to a single source, the Single Player. I'm not saying this MP is for certain the thing that cause ME3 to be this way, but it can't be ignored, it used resources that otherwise could have been used for SP.

And time was definitely a factor, it's obvious EA wanted ME3 in their quarter earnings to hide..I mean...offset their losses on SWTOR, but budet was a factor as well. Weekes even said they didn't have the resources to make female species of aliens.

Well, the dead are smelly and not very fun at parties. They don't even dance very well unless lead by a major rock singer like this guy or this guy. Plus thy hog the covers (if you believe Atrocity).
