"thrilling tactical deliveries (like avoiding the varren the krogan left on the porch) as you lead an elite squad of up to 2 UPS recruits at a time"
Bonus content- "Additional delivery missions. Behind-the scenes documentaries. Extensive interactive design galleries, Music tracks to play in your UPS vehicle."

back of the game case for UPS 2186- "An ancient threat returns. One final hope emerges. As UPS Commander Shepard, you lead an elite squad on a heroic, action-packed adventure throughout the galaxy delievering packages. Discover the imminent danger from an ancient threat and battle the traitorous FedEx and its deadly army to save civilization. The fate of all life depends on your packages."

I know I myself keep talking about this without having played Witcher 2 yet myself, but this is why I instantly reject the notion that Bioware making branching storylines is asking for too much. How? Smaller developers without the funding of the biggest publisher in the industry have done it already.
CD Projekt gave the multiple endings promised, and 2 completely seperate storylines depending on how you decided you wanted it to go.
Bioware manages to fail not only in giving divergnet stories with seperate causes and missions, but it doesn't even let you approach the same stories and missions from a different angle (Like letting you side with Cerberus).
Hell there's not a single mission in the game that can't be played by every player in every playthrough they do. What the hell is that? It's linear as hell. It's something you find in a FPS, not a Western RPG. For them, the idea of programming something that it's possible a player cannot see is just crazy talk. The entire game was designed to look polished for a single Paragon playthrough. That's it. It's too bad if you wanted the story to exist differently because of your galaxy altering decisions in the past.
It's like the guys who shortcutted ME3 were hoping that no one who played the Single player would try it more than once. Maybe that's why the ending is the way it is (speculation!). Or maybe they were genuinely hoping that no one would even care still, which is probably more sad.
I think their creativity reached its end. They've used the same plot for every single one of their games all the way back to Baldur's Gate with very little deviation from the path. The only difference is the backdrop. They have great character writers, but the people creating the main plot theme are one trick ponies.

Bioware's chart of plot cliches
You know; this came from my creative writing Professor back in 2002 - every story has already been told; honestly - there is no story you can tell that hasn't already been. Now that said; how you tell your story is what makes it unquie; different........if you tell it well - people will like it.
Its the true; There isn't a story that is out there that hasn't been told already a hundred times.....if you tell it well; put your stamp on it....people will like it...that's why cliches work .....most of the time

the sequel, UPS 2186 and a half- "They don't expect you to survive this delivery, entire human colonies on many worlds are needing packages. As UPS Commander Shepard you must assemble the galaxy's deadliest UPS team to save mankind against this blackout of delieveries. They call it a suicide mission, prove them wrong!"

Bioware's chart of plot cliches
That's just it, though. DA2 was without several of those cliches. And was lambasted for it.
You hail from humble origins..... not really. I mean, you're a peasant to begin with, sure, but your parents were a noblewoman and an APOSTATE. Who appearantly did a little work with the Gray Wardens, according to DLC.
A Devastating Battle sends your quiet life spinning out of balance..... well, not BATTLE exactly. You're a refugee fleeing from a Blight. There's some fighting but mostly you're just getting the hell out of there.
The attack leaves you with two companions.... unless you're the mage, anyway. The party will be two fighters and a mage regardless, balance issues and all.
Invited into an elite order.... nope. Just become filthy honking rich. And reclaim nobility, I guess?
You must travel to four main locations.... um, town, same town at night, wilderness? No real traveling.
Evil or Sinister Organization.... nope. Just three factions, mostly indifferent to your presence or trying to get you to join with them. Qunari, Mages, Templars.
Dream Sequence.... .....?
Ancient Ruins.... check. Should've just left that idol there, bro.
I don't think it was the story structure of DA2 that made everyone so mad. It certainly wasn't the reason for me. I disliked DA2 for the sheer laziness of it. Recycling 3 maps for every single mission. Being stuck in Kirkwall the ENTIRE game, and the city was dead, I bet there were under 30 non-hostile NPCs in all of Kirkwall. If those bandit groups ganged up they could have taken Kirkwall in 10 minutes.
The story and characters were the only redeeming qualities, I loved that there was no inherently evil "bad guy" throughout the whole game.
But the rest of the game was just a mess. I really hope they keep the good parts of DA2, and there were some good parts, and just bring in the environment of DAO, and more character interaction. Only being able to talk to your team when they have a mision for you was lame, especially when you have Eve Myles voicing one of the characters.
