It used to be that you bought expansions, and essentially got a full second game to go with the first. Then, they began to overcharge you premium prices from extra downloadable content which still served to complement the original game. Now you have to pay for on-disc content, where you decide which part of the game you'd like to pay extra for simply to be getting back.Major Swift wrote...
agree 100%!!! makes me worried that whatever game im buying could turn out to pull **** like this and i don't find out until its too late or try to sell me stuff i already paid for on the disc and tell me its 100% ok, thats not DLC thats just them being greedy as hell by creating the a scam. and i miss the part i bolded, theres hardly any of them out there that do so now adays, on a completely random note anyone here played this before? found myself going back to play it after all this time recently and i still enjoy it lolg_bassi13 wrote...
Was reading the article about Risen 2 there. I have to wonder how Piranha Bytes feels about programming that patch, and whether it's something they want, or are being pushed into doing. They have always had a dedicated, but relatively smaller fan base. Doing stuff like that only serves to alienate most of them, leaving no one there. Also, sticking such practices on an already substandard game is a recipe for disaster.
There used to be a time when developers used to reward people who actually bought the game. But now they just punish them instead, with BS DRM, and BS like this patch. I don't even need to go into why on disc DLC is the biggest scam out there.
All these publishers are making it hard to actually justify going out there and spending cash on games now.
So we can't get the ending we want after all?

We have all gone insane, some of are working fics, some of us are lucky to get Word open on the day. Oh and apparently Atrocity, Hitman and Phoenix have formed some axis of evil thing or the other. And Tyion thinks he's Richard from LFG comic.mage110011 wrote...

Does anyone remember the Tiger Woods DLC?
http://playstationli...game-comes-out/
This is an example of a studio that should be boycotted out of business. And it seems Piranha Bytes is getting close to being put on that list too. It's hard to justify paying for content that was part of the original game, especially when the game is so poor to begin with.
A company like Piranha Bytes should be doing everything they can to keep the customers they have, not alienating them more. It's sad that a medicore studio like that survives when GSC Game World has to close its doors.
I signed up for a trial of Onlive so I could play Bard's Tale, but the service sucks, I was never actually able to get out of the main menu.
