this bull**** with Origin, and Steam, and Blizzard needs to stop. It doesn't prevent piracy. Pirates are cracking games before they even get released, they will always find a way.

All these companies are doing is pissing off the people that actually bought the game. I'll never buy a Blizzard game, even though I really wanted Starcraft 2, there's no way I'd give those sons of ****es money. Blizzard can suck it.

yeah it does need to stop its ridiculous, one of the games i would always go to when the internet was out was diablo 2, thought that would also end up being the case with diablo 3 but no of course not.....and another thing thats stupid is now whenever WoW etc have a problem everything is screwed for however long

If a dev/publisher wants more copies of a game sold, particularly physical copies, they should reward those who buy it (physical extras, lots of content, all at a 'reasonable price') and not punish them w/ DRM.
Value added, DRM free, and all that.
Those who pirate a game can't be counted as 'lost sales', after all: some of them may buy, some of them will probably never buy....in the end, DRM only really hurts the people who buy the game when the DRM goes 'funky' (e.g., unable to load a game because of DLC authentication errors, unable to go to 'offline mode' on Steam because PC has multiple Steam users and the internet is down, etc.).

I stopped buying Ubisoft games a while back because of their DRM, and it was only recently that I've learned that they seem to have done away w/ it...so I may go back to buying their stuff.

Aside from my lack of interest in the game (I do watch the livestreams/Youtube playthroughs 'cause of the personalities playing them, like the TGS crew or the Yogscast), I didn't (and probably won't in the near future) get Diablo 3 because of the need for 'always online' (also one of the reasons I didn't get Starcraft 2...that and since they announced that it'd be 3 episodes, I decided to wait for the eventual 'bundle'  ).

If it were an MMO, I would understand, but not for a game w/ a single-player component. I like one suggestion given somewhere (here? Youtube? I forget) that they should have (and probably still try to) implemented a way to play offline w/ a character/set of characters and have those segregated from an online character/set of characters.

I liked this podcast thingy re: Diablo III:
(discusses various aspects of the game, including the whole always online thingy)

Yep, that's pretty much my thoughts too.

I saw the multiple cracks on my first playthrough and it was not good even the diologe was bad over the limited choices the ending made the game a 4/10 at best
