I honestly had no idea they were doing this. My signature change was purely coincidental. I personally feel that it's the greatest Sci-Fi movie ever made, but they never really left it open for much of a sequel (even if they say they did). Especially not now where they have to replace every possibly recurring character's actors.

But you get the same people working on it, and it's possible good things will happen. I mean Ridley Scott's Promtheus looks like it will be awesome, so maybe it wouldn't hurt if he went back and added to another of his classics.

I made a point about this earlier in the thread, but it's funny how Blade Runner seemed to have a positive influence on Mass Effect 1, yet a destructively negative influence on Mass Effect 3. Well funny if you don't mind that they ruined Mass Effect 3 and the entire series, lol.

Ridley Scott and the guy who wrote the original screenplay are teaming up again for the sequel, so it should at least be true to the original. I hope they don't go the I, Robot, route. Where there's a big war between replicants and humans. I would like to see more replicants revolt, but not to the point where it's just explosions and action the whole time.

And I really hope Harrison Ford is in it. Not starring, because it wouldn't fit well with him being close to 70.But at least a cameo. Like we see Harrison Ford, an old has-been investigator, getting drunk in a bar trying to forget his past, and the star contacts him for help kinda thing.

When I first played Mass Effect, I instantly saw where they drew some inspiration from Blade Runner, and that's what got me so hooked on ME as a series. It also is one of my favorite sci-fi movies, so when ME came out it was like heaven.

then ME2 came out, and there was less of Blade Runner, and more Dirty Dozen kind of influence, which was ok with me, it still worked, and they still focused on Characters. Then ME 3 came out, and I had no idea what could have influenced it. I guess more of "We want your money" thrown in with some" Call of Duty" and "Deus Ex:HR"....

If they'd make a mission where you actually take on Reapers, you know, the actual antagonists in Mass Effect, it would maybe be interesting, but they'd have to do it right. Not more point laser, run, point laser, run, point laser, run missions. I'm talking infiltrate a live Reaper, take on endless hordes of Husks, and plant bomb in Reaper's core.

.

Reapers? Hah, the real galactic threat is rum smugglers near the Voyager Cluster, and cerberus attacking a box factory on Pointless Prime...

Maybe they had you only kill a few reapers the entire game, so that when you get to the ending, and you hear and understand the truth about their purpose and existence, you don't feel like an idiot for having aggresively tried to wipe them out

Well either that, or they saw that it would be difficult to come up with and program situations involving Reapers, so they decided to take the lazy route and let Cerberus serve as the main enemy by some sort of stupid proxy.

I don't think Harrison could be in it, given that how Decker should be viewed depends on what version of the film you watch...

I imagine it would be more of a spiritual sequel

Salutations fellow forumites happy glad day finally got The Witcher 2 and I must say it absolutely FANTASTIC! makes me remember the happy, carefree times of ME1 for some reason.

As for on topic stuff reaf the interview with Mike Gamble I remain cautious about any mention of DLC I just hope that we don't get more MP DLC.

Well that's good news about Scott and the writer. I have enough faith in Scott that he wouldn't be making it unless he had a reason to do so.

As for Harrison Ford, I'm kind of confused as to where he would fit in. Because Ridley Scott in an interview had confirmed the fan theories that Deckard was a replicant all along. So for him to be in it would require that he and Rachel somehow found a way to avoid the expiration date that comes with that.

I brought up a comparison with ME3 earlier in the thread because I assumed whoever was in charge of the ending wanted something similar that of Blade Runner. Where it's ambiguous and fans come up with there own theories on what exactly happened. When they read the Indoctrination Theory, they were probably celebrating that someone could make something like that out of their ending.

There's a huge difference though. The IT existed out of fan desperation to make sense out of something so openly retarded. It was not a result of the makers dropping clues and intricately crafting thier story. It doesn't work when you just try to be obtusely evasive and unanswering just for the sake of it.

I feel dirty for even comparing ME3 with Blade Runner, but I was using it as an explanation as to why the creators feel the same way about their ending. Seeing as how Riddley Scott's original ending was replaced by some stupid fan based happy ending, when the test audiences didn't like the sad emptiness that it showed.

So the creators feel that ME3 is this same kind of art that they need to protect, that will come to be appreciated in time like Blade Runner was in later years. Problem is that ME3 and it's ending are nothing like Blade Runner, as much as they want to believe it. It's crap. They need to realize this. This will not change over time. The game will just remain a punchline in the industry.

Maybe I should check out Witcher 2 as well, longing for a satisfying 3P RPG. This is what drew me in:

Some critics such as Eurogamer have praised the difficulty of the prologue, explaining "[The game] treats you not as a player... but as an adult, free to make your own mistakes and suffer a plot in which not everyone gets what they deserve." source

...which is exactly what I used to like about Mass Effect.

It really noticable that this is a higher level game than most because unlike Mass Effect these no obvious structuing to the conversation system I can no longer say that the nice answer is in the top right box ect. means that choises are more about personal attitudes and your actions. It the most immersive game I've played in a long time

Also Dont Kaidan Me love the avatar wheres it from?

Bah, who needs that when you can just get a another completely linear Call of Duty/Gears of War clone. Choices and their consequenses are apparently overrated. Lol

I wish they hadn't released the game in it's current state. It needs so much work.

That one of the main reasons (apart from the ending) that ME3 doesn't sit well with me. You just have to look at ME2 to see that everything has been thought out and implemented well and since i've had some rudimentrry programming experience I know how difficult that can be and ME3 had almost non of that fantastic integration of side quests into the main story.

Just endless fetch and grab jobs and no matter how good the main missions are you do something that repetative for close 40 hour its gonna ruin the replayability. I know it did for me. just past Thessia and I thought I can't be bothered anymore. I'm bored of MP and scanning planets give me more side quest that were the caliber of the Grunt mission or the loyalty missions from ME2.

Yep, I couldn't even manage to leave the Citadel on my second playthrough. I checked in with Ashley for the first time, walked up to the embassy, and went, "Ehhh, I'm going to play DAO instead."

Cause I know that I'll have to go and eavesdrop on random people, and scan planets and flee before those cartoon Reapers get me. It just doesn't hold my interest like ME1 and ME2 does.

Even though ME1 is my favorite all-around game, I have to admit that ME2 does it better. It is the perfect combination of gameplay and story. It has beefy side missions, and they made the ending so damn good. The fact you can Tali-mance is a bonus.....

ME3 is like they forgot what genre Mass Effect was. Then they forgot what a mission journal was. Then they forgot what side missions were. Then they thought they remembered what genre it was, and made it a Call of Duty dating sim.

I'd forgotten about those daft 2D reapers "Quick make exploring last the whole game by chasing"

and I wouldn'e even call it a dating sim so many of the romances were so badly glossed over E.G. Tali "Come up to cabin. Yo lets get back together then never talk at any point unless we're on the Citadel."

That's true. Let's just retcon all of ME3, and they can do it over again. Clean sweep. Get on it BioWare.

On a completely random note, I was perusing Mark Meer's twitter, and some dude messaged him, "We'll bang, okay." If I had been drinking something, I would have done a spit-take.

OK. Thanks. I thought that maybe someone knew something I don't about the character's fate. I wouldn't be surprised if we only got a text version of a "what happened to...".
