Oh? What'd I miss?

I would recommend a bit of back reading to answer that & I do mean just a little due to the shortage of weekend posts.

Mass Effect 3 could've been the most dynamic game ever. What we got though was so dumbed down that it can't even manage to touch the standards that the earlier games set for it. Not nearly good enough.

That's why I would only give ME3 a 5/10 and I'm being generous with that score.  It needs an overall reworking or an enhanced editiion in 2yrs time if they sort out the ending properly.

Yours and my opinion about the game seems to continuily sink by the simple fact of talking about it, and I think that in itself is kind of testament to how sloppy the whole thing was.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to give it a 5/10 though. As an individual game I'd give it a 7/10 for general mediocrity as a linear shooter. As purely a part of the Mass Effect series your rating might not be low enough. So I'm not sure where the middle ground is between the two.

It's strength comes from the basic fact it's a game in the Mass Effect universe, yet almost all it's flaws are from the fact that it's not truly a Mass Effect game still. It didn't ever care to be. It didn't even bother to try to live up to those expectations. That's why I can't help but hate the damn thing overall.

Factor in the ending and it gets a giant "WTF"/10.

But like Hitman said, they're not going to be releasing any kind of enhanced edition. I think it desperately needs one, but it won't be getting it. It's funny when games like the Witcher 2 get free ones when it didn't really need one in the first place. It's all a bit of show as to be careful as to what developers and publishers you're giving your money to.

G'night Hezz!

My brother: "When's the super-happy self-entitled DLC coming out?" Then, "[Imagine if] people complained about the ending of a novel and got the author to change it ..."

I'm not one for arguing in person so I didn't say anything, but I was amused thinking of the arguments that can be made (and have already been made, repeatedly) against both of these sweeping generalisations. Anyway, hello if you're reading this bro, and yes, I'm one of those who disagree with the ME3 ending. ;)

Those arguments have made up the bulk of BSN for the past 2 months. At least now its almost died down, untill new info comes out that is.

I find it funny that they're willing to change aspects of that to serve their most devout fans, but seem completely unwilling to respond with respect to their game. I suppose it's easier to throw one author who's new to the series under the bus then it is an entire team. And to trash a product that's not intended to appeal to the general masses.

Though this really is more like calling out someone who wrote a choose your own adventure book in which you don't actually get to choose your own adventure. Where everything ends up on the same page. And that page is one of those where you die before you can solve the problem.

Best way to describe it would be ''Welcome to Mass Effect, what colour of death would you like today?''

Give me 10 minutes, a sledge hammer, an ice pick and a bag of pork sratching and I think I could bring it down maybe some sort of Quick Time Event.

On Topic hope we are all well and I must say that the only thing that rescued ME3 for me was staring at it through the rose tinted ME2 goggles.

It's basically an episodic game when you get down to it. ME2's plot is somewhat contained, but for actual PLOT EVENTS it's basically just a short act. The meat of the game is recruiting and performing therapy on your suicide squad. Which makes their lack of plot significance in this game that much more disappointing.

Speaking of the suicide mission, that was kind of the original letdown. So I go out and recruit like 12 people, only to pick like 3 of them for special tasks. And then leave them all behind except two for the final battle. Granted, I upgraded the hell out of my ship because I just assumed something bad would happen if I didn't. And the mission itself seemed awfully short and simple for invading an alien stronghold.

I think I would have liked the "Building a Reaper" revelation ahead of time too. And maybe save the part about it being made out of people for the crew rescue.

Also, Legion should've been the first recruited squadmate. But maybe that's just bias talking.

There's really nothing to do but wait, all we know is most / all of the VA's are setting up studio time to record new lines. And the EC is supposed to drop sometime this summer.

well, since I was here last, this is new.  I thought the PAX announcement said that there would be no voice acting, just an "explanation".  If they are going to do this thing the right way, well, they may just regain some trust from me.  thanx for the info.

Still in wait mode.

Personally, I would be absolutely floored if we were to hear anything new and/or substantive by the end of the first week of June. None of us should be surprised by this.
