I'm not sure this thread can be killed ;)

It is slow but not dead

Give me 10 minutes, a sledge hammer, an ice pick and a bag of pork sratching and I think I could bring it down maybe some sort of Quick Time Event.

On Topic hope we are all well and I must say that the only thing that rescued ME3 for me was staring at it through the rose tinted ME2 goggles.

It's basically an episodic game when you get down to it. ME2's plot is somewhat contained, but for actual PLOT EVENTS it's basically just a short act. The meat of the game is recruiting and performing therapy on your suicide squad. Which makes their lack of plot significance in this game that much more disappointing.

Speaking of the suicide mission, that was kind of the original letdown. So I go out and recruit like 12 people, only to pick like 3 of them for special tasks. And then leave them all behind except two for the final battle. Granted, I upgraded the hell out of my ship because I just assumed something bad would happen if I didn't. And the mission itself seemed awfully short and simple for invading an alien stronghold.

I think I would have liked the "Building a Reaper" revelation ahead of time too. And maybe save the part about it being made out of people for the crew rescue.

Also, Legion should've been the first recruited squadmate. But maybe that's just bias talking.

All things considered, I thought that the suicide mission was a brilliant ending. If you are a typical RPG completionist, you will probably go in there fully prepared, sure. But there's always the posibility of something going wrong. I went in there blind, not knowing what to expect. I almost got Garrus killed right off the bat, lol.

I don't know that it perfectly captured the feel of an impossible mission, but that's only because a lot of things in the first 2 games felt like that. So it's a challenge to make something "more impossible". In the end I think it was enough of a do or die situation. And though I thought that the Reaper fight was a bit of a let down, the Human Reaper reveal itself was awesome. I honestly didn't see it coming.

In the end, what I think it did the best was showcase that team building that the rest of the game seemed to be about. It was a chance for you to show you understood and respected their skill-sets, and it was a chance for that loyalty you built with them to pay off. The ending was a great way to play off the themes of the game as a whole, and it was that great oppurtunity to finally get your squad to work together as a team.

And then ME3 went about screwing all that up by ripping all those guys out of your squad like they were never there in the first place. That is no small thing that they did. Also the intention of Human Reaper creation was something they never explained, lol.

And the impact of the decision to give the base to Cerberus was lost completely. It was supposed to serve as this sort of fork in the road when you decide you finally agree with Cerberus or not. ME3 doesn't let you side with them. It simply decides that they are evil and they will do everything to stop you on your way.

By half-assing the game and taking short-cuts, ME3 managed to downpaly the meaning and effectiveness of ME2's suicide mission almost completely. But as it stood before ME3 came and ruined most of the series, it was great.

There's really nothing to do but wait, all we know is most / all of the VA's are setting up studio time to record new lines. And the EC is supposed to drop sometime this summer.

well, since I was here last, this is new.  I thought the PAX announcement said that there would be no voice acting, just an "explanation".  If they are going to do this thing the right way, well, they may just regain some trust from me.  thanx for the info.

Still likely only explanations. Just more to see, with more voice acting, lol.

Do you guys realize that, in the ORIGINAL Hobbit, Gollum was actually a benevolent spirit that gifted Bilbo with the ring of invisibility after he won a riddle contest? It wasn't until the plot of the Lord of the Rings came out that he became the bizarre, twisted creature we all know and love. Granted that was an internal retcon rather than one forced by the audience, but still. Isn't it better this way?

Hmmmm. I'm genuinely curious as to exactly how much of this is his fault, as the head of the project, and how much is EA's fault for setting an unreasonable development schedule for an RPG. Because I'd wager not a single exec at EA has ever played an RPG, let alone a VIDEO GAME. It would actually improve my opinion of the company if the board meetings consisted entirely of a decade long D&D campaign.

Most of EA's business practices make me think of Wall Street businessmen, and it sucks to think that this approach to games is leaking down into senior staff members of Bioware  :crying:

Well Mr Meers said ages ago that he would be doing more VA for unknown DLC... I doubt every VA is active on twitter, but TBH having Kaidan coming in means  its very likely that the other crew members wil come back, even if they don't  blab about it...

I know Jennifer is active on Twitter, and just found something that looks like it might be indicative of her being back in the studio with Bioware.  OK now I can hope something will come of this nightmare /sigh

I could imagine how amusing it would be it it really was just Kaidan getting the extra scenes. Without even Shepard.

However, it has been confirmed that more than just Raphael Sbarge is back in the studio, Trisha (I can never think of her name when I want it) has said she's back in the studio as well as Lance Hendriks(?).  Also found a tweet that could be construed as Jennifer is back in the studio as well.  So we'll see what happens.

I was joking, lol. Don't worry about that. I'm sure the entire squad will be back. I don't think that's something they need to formally confirm at this point.

Though we should all still worry about the EC being a steaming pile of crap, which it still seems primed to be.

*Heavy german impression* "He vill be executed at dawn, along vit ze rest of zem for zeir betrayal." *End of impression*

I have a feeling that things will go downhill for them in the future, I firmly feel that if we aren't burning him alive right now, then EA will be, if theory is to be believed, he is a major factor in Bioware's shambolic ending, and as such, it would seem that he has cost EA a fair bit of money in the long haul, enough that I personally would consider outing him, as I believe that in metaphorical terms, the community will cry less for war if he is removed from his seat and hung from a tree for them. (if that sounds agressive, it's the best description/example I can come up with. Blame genetics and Autism Spectrum Disorder for that one)

Seeing him be removed would put a fair few of the offended at ease, I can be sure, of my college group who have played the endings, I am the only one who doesn't want his head. If it truly was just him and Walters sat in a darkened room who made this ending, I would hold nothing against EA were they to fire them and humiliate them openly. Frankly, even if there were others involved, I would still be against them for allowing it to pass. Considering that the end is one of the most vital parts of a game, I can't see tham looking at what the had given and saying "yup, they'll love it", without the participation of some form of alcohol or intoxicants being involved, unless they rushed it out the gate.

What is really bizarre is that there are lots of things that were evidently rushed, like the Star Map, and more important, the Journal! The journal is a mess with bad explanations and quests that don't update. You get clueless quickly in the game. Especially if you work, like most of us, and can't dedicate more than a couple of hours a day for the game. You rely on the journal to guide you. And in ME3, the journal is horrible. In ME2 the journal was great. Always updating itself, and always keeping you up to date on your quests.

Why is taking so long to fix it? I mean, will it ever be fixed? Do we have any news about it? It should have been finished after the game's release.
