The whole movie was a kind of techno noir (is that a thing? I'm going to pretend it's a thing), but I thought the movie worked better when it spoke for itself. I haven't seen the version with narration in a while, but what I remember was that other than the fact that Harrison Ford sounded kind of bored during it, it was fine for the most part. Will probably have to watch it again.Laterali wrote...
I just thought I'd drop this in here
Harrison Ford on Blade Runner
I liked his explanation of why he thought Deckard was a human. I hadn't seen the "Final Final cut" till recently, I had always liked the theatrical release. i know a lot of people hated the monologues, but I always kind of liked it, gave it a noire kind of feel.
I still don't know how I feel about Scott coming out and saying Deckard was a replicant.
I think it's interesting that Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott actually had a discussion about that. But unless they make that sequel and have it expressley state it one way or the other, it's up to the viewer to decide what they think is right (I think it fits better when Deckard is a human). That whole debate is probably my least favourite part about the movie, but I still think it's pretty sweet how they left clues about what Scott decided was the truth.
I hesitate to use the words speculation and interpretation in a thread about Mass Effect 3, because it's far from deserving of that same treatment and analysis, which fans ended up giving Blade Runner. ME3 set up itself to beg for it, but it doesn't deserve it just because it wants it.
