The 'ultimate sacrifice' means nothing. It dooms the galaxy. And your squadmates. And you.

And amid all the hopes and dreams of blue children, Shep Tali loving ending with wedding and kissing the brides face

Guys, guys, forget this "we cooperated with the fans to make Mass Effect" nonsense. What they mean (if these endings are the only ones available) is that they cooperated with their focus testing groups for their new target market.

I keep coming back to thread to see if there has been any comment, any new footage, anything that could imply that the endings are slightly more in depth or that something else has been found. But It seems that the more I learn about the endings the worse they actually get. That scene with the kid/guardian strikes me as one of the worst endings to a game I've ever seen.

I guess that in a few days when this thread reaches 800 pages the discussion and conclusion will be exactly the same: The endings are just bad.

It was the one thing I trusted Bioware to do right, and they've done it worse than I could have ever imagined. I can only hope that they learn a lesson from all of this for future games (Which annoys me greatly- I already consider Dragon Age 2 to be a game that I accepted on the basis that it might change the developers take on future games- I don't want another one).

Well, there's one upside to this whole mess: a few days ago we thought the endings were grimdark and depressing, with plot holes to boot. Now we know for certain they make absolutely no sense.
At least we can laugh now. :/

Well, within a stretch, the ending does make the sense, but it's so poorly executed that I find it pitiful.

According to that vid, the moral of the story is synthetics are evil and can never be created. Synthetics = chaos. Solution = destroy organics with the capacity to make them. Reapers = the silliest villains in sci-fi history.

Poor Legion... Showing that the Geth were lke other sentient beings trying to find their own way was just an "illusion".

Not bloody going to bother with reading all 400+ pages, so here are my 2 cents...

1) I just really, REALLY hope that there are prettier endings then 'dark', 'darker' and 'most dark'. I understand that sacrifices be made, but ME1 and ME2, despite the sacrifices made, had at least glimmers of hope. Glimpsing from the spoilers so far, there is no glimmer of true hope to be found in the ME3 endings. No satisfaction.
That worlds get destroyed, is inevitable with threaths like the Reapers. But what is glimpsed so far if true, is just drama for the drama - not used as a tool but as a goal. *sighs*
2) I can name plenty of games which were utterly dark (The Witcher-series, Deus Ex-series, etc) which were and are completely satisfactory to play because you know you can influence the end (The Witcher 2, 16 endings! Deus Ex 1, also a lot. DX2&3 and TW1, just 3 endings, dark to the core but with so much hope and perspective in it you know it will be okay).
Mass Effect 1, while being dark, remains a top-game despite it's flaws because of the cause-and-effect, and the darkness and hope at the same time. The VS-choice still touches me. I still get touched by the battle for the Citadel. The fight through the Omega 4-relay, still hypes me up.
But if those endings are true, I truly doubt I can finish even just 1 gameplay.
