Ithurtz - I follow the Ash forums a lot and I can guarantee you no one there is expecting a different-colored-rocks ending.  They all can't wait to live happily ever after.  There are going to be TEARS.  I'll say it again: the downside of raising expectations is that the fall to reality is farther and harder.  I can't wait to read the first official PR response to all this.  Wonder if it could be anything other than "you don't get it, it's art."  If they try "it's the journey not the destination," that immediately admits defeat on the destination.

On an unrelated note, I like your sig, Rdubs, because I certainly plan on admitting that I was wrong if the leaked info proves to be false. I will gladly admit I was in the wrong, but thoroughly criticize them for the way this was handled.

Oh how I'd love to be wrong ;_;

Those are the ones I feel the most for. I'm attached to the characters to the point the ending will hurt. But these people are massive fans of each character, they are going to be absolutely heart broken.

Little do they know the cruel and punishing trap Bioware has set for them. The irony is the game did the same to you as the reapers did.

Presented you with a set of paths and characters to be reliant on to make it easier to hurt you at the end.

Well I was heartbroken a couple days ago and it wasn't pretty (promise me a warm tropical place and adopted babies with Garrus, then take it all away. Ouch). I can't imagine what will happen when every one of them will discover the ugly truth.

ok so i have missed about 60 pages since earlier today, but I kept seeing since this thread started that the epilogue states that space travel no longer happens.

However i just listened to the epilogue and nowhere does the grandpa say that people dont travel in space anymore. He just tells the little kid that some day she will be able to.

So was the idea that space travel never rebounded just rage speculation?

I honestly don't know if I have the heart to look. As much as some of the people on here deserve to have their hopes crushed for just being awful to deal with...it really makes me sad that so many people have these high hopes for their crew, their LI, etc. They don't know, but they soon will.

It's just sad =/

i'm not complaining, or making demands, but would it not seem logical for bioware to put in the original creators of the reapers making a shutdown button?

Sadly enough, that seems be quite accurate if I am right in my guess what you're aiming at...

Oh yes it will be. I'm betting the LI forums will be the first to burn.

Jackal on the NOSE.  Because these are the people who are most emotionally invested in the outcome.  I won't be able to play the game until next weekend but to find out first how it ends I'm just going to watch the Ashley forum and wait for the explosion - or the joy, if it turns out this is a huge misinformation campaign.  So I'll know ahead of time whether or not I will be needing to return my collector's edition.

I hate being right about something so bad, because as a fan of ME, I know how much I care about the characters. Its a real bummer to see other people go through the same thing.

There's a thread in the discussion group about the five stages of Mass Effect denial. I plan to have that ready and Ctrl+V the hell out of it.

LMAO :D

At this point even a lazy text epilogue with a few static image based on the overall outcome, one of which involves the crew being rescued or did Shepard survive his injuries if he breaths at the end... would be better than what we have now.

They just leave everything to your imagination (the opposite of what they said they would do) in which case the ending leaves a pretty bleak impression on you. 90% of people are just going to think the Normandy suffered a horrible fate of inbreds and Tali / Garrus starved to death after seeing that poorly done epilogue / dialog sequence.

't Was merely to convince myself.... but Bioware has indeed done it. Someone has a spare safety box to watch the BSN explosion from?

After learning that part of the ending narration is Buzz Aldrin, AKA one of the few people who has walked on the moon, I am okay with the ending.

Gamble said, "There are many ways to end Shepard’s story, right? I wouldn’t necessarily say ending Shepard’s story means one thing or the other, like life or death or whatever. It comes to a conclusion and how you get to that conclusion."

"There a risks involved in how you get there or how you completely not get there," Gamble explained. "As in the previous games, you’ll make a decision and you’ll see the outcome and there are huge risks to all of those decisions. It’s not cut and dry."

"There are many different endings," he added. "We wouldn’t do it any other way. How could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can’t say any more than that…"

In Gamble we trust.

I think ash and kaiden's been plenty spoiled already...not sure about others.

I follow the Garrus thread and they don't know about the endings yet so they're all happily discussing Garrus's appearance in the Launch Trailer. There's some vague unease though and they're aware that there are "terrible spoilers" going around. I just can't post there anymore. I don't want my negativity to effect their experiences. :(

Hell with safety box I'm building myself an underground bunker in the Arctic. Maybe even visit with Santa and complain about Christams Tree colors.

I honestly feel crushed.... I just don't understand how Bioware would even think of giving us ONLY these endings... in a game revolved around choice... they give us NO choice but these crappy endings.... and I'm sorry... some think its artsy... whatever.. in a TRILOGY where we will have hundreds and hundreds of hours wrapped into it... we get stuff with the same sh*tty endings?... really?...

Honestly never thought I'd say this as ME and ME2 are my favorite games... but I might not buy ME3.... bunch of freaking morons...

I wonder if Bioware realises at this point the horrible mistake they made, if they care? This is a lot bigger than Dragon Age 2. Some people hated that game, some people thought it was alright.

This is 3 games worth invested in the same character and constantly crossing paths with characters important to the story. And in the end they are just all treated as desposible assets. It's like Bioware figured, as long as the player knows how Shepard went out and the state Earth was in... it's like they thought that's all that mattered in a universe that has done it's hardest to make us see beyond Earth.
