OMG, people, just play the game. Even if the ending does suck for you, does that mean the rest of it sucks?

Yes.

Um... try again, and make sense this time?  Capitalist ideals what?

Now you mention it, who is to say they didn´t? They are older than 37.000.000 years, I think Andromeda is 2.000.000 ly from the Milky Way, and Reaper FTL is rather fast if we go by ME2 final video.

It's a perfectly fair question, but that still doesn't account for all the other galaxies around. And I mean, really, if after 27 million years no perfect synthetic species from another galaxy has materialized to omnomnom on ours, you'd really think that the Reapers would go "Maybe we should overthink that whole reaping thing..."

And, please, nobody say "But they are only following their programming...". They are supposed to be true AI, remember? With own thought processes and all. You'd think that they spend their 50.000 years debating a bit among themselves, not only watching re-runs of the A-Team.

Yeah I'll still try and get 5000 readiness points. Apparently you get the pretentious artsy bull**** ending if you just do a speedrun.

So I guess the people there who go "Lol, you so wrong!" about other people disliking the endings are also wrong? Methinks you haven't thought this one through to its logical conclusion...

Alright, cheers. I imagine it'd come after the epilogue or just before it begins, following the credits.

I assume you mean the robotic laws?

  • A robot will not harm authorized Government personnel but will terminate intruders with extreme prejudice.
  • A robot will obey the orders of authorized personnel except where such orders conflict with the Third Law.
  • A robot will guard its own existence with lethal antipersonnel weaponry, because a robot is bloody expensive.

See,  TOTALLY get that. So I understand where BW got the idea... but if the Reapers are GONE at the end... why would their old trap matter?

Symbolism. The reapers "gave" us the technology if were gonna be free from their genocide we must make our own path. I understand you would prefer a pragmatic choice but the symbolic aproach makes sense from a literary point of view.

Think of it as a "coming of age"  for the galaxy, you have to leave your parents house to make a future of your own (although these "parents" are genocidal aliens i this case :P)

The relays also prevent the need for diverging from that technology and developing different technologies.

how does it prevent it once you find out the truth? do the relays mind control civilizations? why can't the races say...ok we know the trap...now we can start finding other ways to travel , and a way to shut down the relays once we develop it?

Are the reapers physically attached to the relays by some unknown technology, and when they die the relays die?

Because of what you're doing right now, even though you know they're a trap you still want to use them and if you do you'll see no reason to go past them, eventually you'll develop more AI's (you've already done it anyway) and they will expand, eventually devour all resources over a period of time and galactic life will end and synthetic life will be all that's left.

Good bye organics.

Because of course the existence of the train stopped anyone from ever inventing the automobile and the airplane, right?

And you're posting on a vacuum tube based computer right now, right?  Because the vacuum tube meant that no one would ever invent the transistor and then the integrated circuit and then the microchip, right?

[/sarcasm]

It's a humorous version of Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics.
[1] A robot must not harm a human, or through inaction, allow a human to come to harm
[2] A robot must obey any order given to it by a human, except where such an order would conflict with the first law
[3] A robot must protect it's own existence, except where such an action would conflict with the first or second laws

You get the pretentious artsy bull**** ending no matter what you do. It arguably gets worse with more readiness points. You go from Normandy crew dead to Normandy crew alive - Forever Lost. You go from Shepard dead to Shepard alive - Forever Alone. Plus you unlock the space-magic "Synthesis" ending. Either way, galactic civilization is gone.

Choose your poison carefully.

The stream just leaked the Destroy ending:

Shepard and Anderson are transported aboard the Crucible - apparently, your squadmates may remain alive if you have enough Readiness points, and remain on Earth (although they're probably injured). Shepard finds Anderson at a console inside the Crucible, and the Illusive Man is there as well. Shep and IM have a conversation about the potential of the Reapers. There's an interrupt moment (where you might be able to save Anderson, if the leaked dialogue is any indication), and the conversation with the Crucible plays.

The dialogue is pretty much exactly the same as the leaked file, and the representation is a holographic(?) projection of the kid from the beginning of the game. Shepard goes to destroy something and fires several bullets from his pistol into it, igniting the Crucible and sending the beam out.

The Normandy lands on a planet that has jungle foliage. In the playthrough, the streamer got a bad end - the scene cuts just before the airlock fully opens. Epilogue plays the same, and ends a declaration that the story can continue through "further gameplay and downloadable content".

END OF LINE

Yea that's worthless in regards to knowing if your crew is on the Normandy or not.  What needs to be seen is someone with a high Readiness score seeing if their LI comes out of the Normandy or not.  The guy got the ending where nobody comes out.

Wrong.

The Reapers are arrogant monsters.

Changing that in ME3 was Bioware's biggest blunder, where they stepped firmly into the realm of contrived cliche.
Erradicating the Reapers was always going to be the only appropriate ending for ME3.

This.

Honestly, watch the dialog with the Guardian then the one you get with Sovereign. It's painful.
