Yeah, it's a great scene. So was the Garrus/Femshep one.

Disappointing endings cannot negate the rest of the game for me if it's of a similar quality.

I'm assuming this is from the best ending, where Anderson survives until after the reapers are defeated.

Yeah this is jus ta cheap attempt to invoke emotion with the gamer, just like the kid at the beginning of the game. The dark energy ending would have made more sense also.

Yes, Yes, they can. I still hate Halo 2 becuase of it's ending afterall.

I watching Gladiator as I'm typing this.  The scene with Maximus and Marcus on how Marcus only brought the sword and nothing more, and Maixmus going on saying that he refuses to believe that so many men have fought and died for nothing pretty much sums up my feelings about this fiasco.  Before anyone flings me with insults, no I'm not condemning nor condoling Bioware's decision.  All I know is the endings are bad and there's only one more day before the 6th.

We'll never know, unless some in-the-know BioWare employee breaks their NDA to talk about it.  Frankly, I don't think it's a lie.  I think the person giving that interview really believes that these endings are not forcing us into a "bespoke ending that everyone gets." 

Either they're in an exceptional level of denial--the real belief that the fans who responded to BioWare's hooks and became emotionally invested in Mass Effect's characters will be pleased with these outcomes, OR they knew the endings would cause a crapstorm and for whatever reason they've decided that taking the heat is worth it. 

(Or you know, they're sitting there alternately gritting their teeth and laughing because there's a better ending coming in the Day 1 Patch.  But I don't hold out much hope for that.)

The day 1 PS3 patch is 16 mb, hardly enough for a completely new ending. All the files have been checked and there's no better outcome. Unless they misname the file on purpose to deter pirates but I highly doubt that.

Heh, just found this. May cheer some of you up. We may not get the ending we wanted and on the bright side, aside from the uncanny resemblance to Deus Ex, it appears their epilogue was inspired elsewhere as well.

Being the final installment of the trilogy, the ending is the most important part. The ending we get ruins each of these scenes, for they are rendered completely invalid. With ME3's endings as they are it will be the most dissapointing game I've ever played, no matter the quality of the rest of the game.

Right, so there we go.  Denial, or willing to take the crapstorm.  And given that BioWare is made up of lots of different people, I bet there's some of both happening, along with some quiet facepalming and tidying up of the ol' resume.
