Really, watching the forums is probably going to be better than the endings. It will be glorious.

So at this point, do we have any examples of gaming trilogies that have done so and done so successfully throughout the history of the medium? Just curious, I can't think of any.

Just because a videogame hasn't done so successfully doesn't mean one can't. Look, I know about the limiations of writing a story for videogames. Technology limitations, deadlines, fear of the first installment failing and forcing you to abort the trilogy idea. But it doesn't mean you can be like Stephen King and just make crap up as you go along.

But, meh. Videogame stories. I mostly play for the gameplay anyway, stories are like a secondary thing for me. I enjoy them, but I can't really play a videogame with crap gameplay :P

I was just curious, really. :P

Whatever there is, we can't judge the game by some suspicious leaked scripts and endings that were described in quite humorous way by someone we don't know.

If these endings are to be believed and bioware dudes reccomend keeping save files I'd rather wait for another month or two until game is out and all possible DLCs for SP will be announced/released.

The leaked script and the info form the game match up the endings are real

OK, honestly, do i have to keep pointing this out?  Whether or not the endings we're discussing are real, that they match the script doesn't mean a damn thing.  If they were fake, they'd still match the script that's been out for a while, simply because that would be the most convincing way to create a fake - to use material that's already been leaked and generally accepted as the basis.

And if they were true they'd match the script so your point matters little.  Facts are BW said the script was real and said it could still be "tweaked" and nothing more.  Facts are Tank was a QA tester on the game until January and he has repeatedly released information that has been confirmed later including things nobody could have known until the DLC leak.  Facts are Xio proved he has the game in his possession and his leaks match Tank's and the script's.  Facts are we have a member of this forum who has been here since 2010, has been answering questions all day from the guide he purports to have, and concurs with the endings.  Facts are we have BW being completely silent and mods are direct people to this thread to talk the endings.

Given all that parsimony leans towards this all being true and not some massive collusion of a bunch of different people to mislead the masses.

Again, all their info could be incomplete, just cause a script is leaked and they say it's real, doesn't mean it's complete, just cause a guy "proves he has the game" and played it through doesn't mean he got the optimal ending, and just because a guy "claims to have the guide" doesn't mean his guide is complete or that someone doesn't have him by the balls stoping him from revealing anything they don't want him.  Maybe mods are quiet cause all this is true, it's just not the whole story.

Wait, Mass Effect = Battlestar Galactica?

So glad I'm not the only one who has arrived at this conclusion already.

Yeah, it's always had influences but this is pretty big, lol.

I at least wanted the Battlestar-type ending where everyone decided to build anew, including the major surviving characters, together.

We don't even get that. It's like the finale of Battlestar in ST's Mirror Universe.

basicly what im saying is im sick of the same old whining about the prothean dlc, im sick of the whining on how jessica chobot is in the game, im sick of seeing how i should like a videogame because god forbid if i am not like you than im just a butt kissing chapped liped bioware lover right?

i mean afterall this board is just for the ** true** rpg fans and no one else matters but yourselves

*Too many assumptions about my character to take this seriously*. Wanna try that again?

and yet you called me whatever it was you called me did you not?

your actions are what defines you in my eyes and so far what i said is pretty much true

Ah, I was wondering if you'd heard about all this yet, Sky. Interesting analysis! :P

Well the rest of the cast gets their 'rebuilding on Earth' (except not) kinda finish, at least. Shep doesn't is all. It's kinda like how Adama decided to live in peace on the other side of the planet, except Shep at least goes down in more tangible flames. Except if he/she lives in which case... um... party time with Anderson, I guess. o_o;

One thing I like about the ending is that it at least puts an end to the constant bickering about which LI will end up with the Shepard. Nobody!

(I'm joking. People will argue over this until they are dead. And then some)

I don't enjoy watching the world burn. I'll be taking my leave from here shortly... probably for the next year or so. I'll be ensuring I maintain contact with people I like from here and getting the hell outta Dodge before this thread turns into the entire site.

Actually, I hadn't expected this thread to crop up so soon. I'd resigned to posting really cryptically on the boards while soaking up all the ending stuff on the spoiler board... but now I guess I don't have to do that!

I just don't understand why we're all getting out the torches and pitchforks before the game has even come out. I've read the spoilers, they sound plausible, 'tis true, but I have more faith in Bioware than to think they'd give us all the shaft after the majority of us here have invested hundreds of hours and dollars in this series. It's bad business to ****** off a very large part of your customer base (New players included), and I'd think Bioware, or at least those money-grubbing ****s at EA, wouldn't want to lose so much in future sales from a horrifically unfufill-
. . .

. . .Dragon Age 2.
Let's just pretend DA2 doesn't exist and hold out on Occupying Edmonton until March 10th (when we can start flying in our European brothers and sisters to increase our numbers,)

That won't even happen if my best analysis of the leaked info is accurate: if they survived, people like Miranda and Jack will still be on Earth and not the Normandy, and so if Shepard survives and he romanced either of them (or maybe a few others, I can't think of any though) then he could presumably get his happy-ish ending with them.

We're almost close to 50 pages now!

Good lord, and to think ppl were wailing over a DLC a few days ago!

Look...I get it: the endings aren't oh-so-great as far as we know!  But again, we have to wait and see!!

And let's be civil here.  We don't need to be calling each other names, okay?  That's how some threads get locked down.

Assuming these rumors are true, did you really expect that Shepard and crew would be able to fight off the Reapers without consequences for themselves? As if it would resolve in a neat little package at the end like a fairy tale, or where the entire crew holds hands and sings "kumbaya"?

At the end of the day, BioWare best know how to blow us away and emotionally engage us with their rock solid, masterfully written, majestic stories. I'm sure while everyone likes to complain, do you really want a Mass Effect 3 to have a bland, lifeless ending?

Where's the drama in that?

Personally, I think it's a great ending, a completely logical conclusion based on the plot progression (that we've seen so far) and it doesn't feel artificial or forced at all. Most of you are just angry because you won't be able to live happily evar after with your LIs.

Well guess what, Mass Effect is not about a choose-your-own-romance-adventure sexual wish fulfillment mini-game, with appalling elements like shallow fanservice and over sexualization. It's a gritty, mature, adult story which will surely advance the medium in ways we can't even imagine.

this is literally the worst thing ive ever read

I'd be more inclined to remain skeptical if we didn't have two separate and verified sources claiming the same things now.

Hey I have a question that maybe you guys can help me solve. I'm creating a perfect ( according to what I want) profile in mass effect 2 for mass effect 3 and I started last weekend. I am over halfway through the game with what I thought was exactly what I wanted but then I started reading stuff online and I realized that some choices I made in the beginning comic thing ( for the ps3 ) might have bad consequences like killing the rachni queen and wrex. I don't think I can make another profile in a weekend, but do you think I should try because these choices will give me a bad ending in mass effect 3 like characters dying or just a bad ending? or do you think i will be okay? please answer.

I think it's all incomplete.  The leaked script, the guys play through wasn't optimal, and the prima guy just isn't telling everything.

I've known about the endings for a while, but I didn't realize the bit about the Normandy until just recently. I thought the endings were classy until I figured out we've been pigeonholed into being separated from the ship no matter what.

So, Shep isn't like, alone alone in the living ending, right? He/she is just separated from the rest of the crew forever? Shep will still have people around him/her? If that's the case, I can live with it except for one of my broSheps...he's only ever known loss his entire life (Colonist/Sole Survivor), and I know he wouldn't do any other option besides Destroy...but that would leave him separated from the only family he's known since Mindoir, and would force him to deal with agonizing loss under even bleaker circumstances. He'd put a bullet in his head, to be perfectly honest.

I think my biggest problem is...THEY CRASHED MY BABY. MY POOR, POOR BABY...That, and we've been pigeonholed. That's just flat out annoying.

Yeah, restart, it shouldn't take too long, I made it through ME2 in about a week just playing a few hours a day after work.

The space launch winner goes by the user name Xoisite on the boards and he extracted all the files from his 360 copy to PC using PC software ME fans have been utilizing for years now. He couldn't find any alternate endings.

Well looks like there are 3 definite camps that have formed after this latest leak...
i)The majority who agree that this is a horrible ending, worse than DA2 and a complete FU to ME 2.
ii)Biodrones who will flat out deny everything, or blindly worship whatever turd bioware throws at them disguised as story
iii)Then there are the trolls, who basically copy paste the previous troll "LOL WAT DIID U GUYZ EXPECT...PONIEZ AND COTTON CANDIEZ??

You forgot the buzzword: self-entitlement
