 Hate to derail the disscussion but I wanted to give my take on the endings and the recation to them. Why I don't hate the endings by any means they are a bit underwhelming. However, I won't judge them fully until the game comes out. Even if they are bad I'll be okay with that and I have a few reasons.

1. I don't think a bad ending ruins a story- I'll use a movie I like as an example. I'm a big Disney animation fan and one of my favorite films of the Renaissance period is The Little Mermaid. Now I have a lot of problems with the ending becuase Ariel makes a very stupid choice and is rewarded for it. As a result, she doesn't go through a full character arc. However, I cant discount the rest of the movie just because i don't like the last three minutes. The music, characters, animation, and story (minus the ending) are all top knotch. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but a bad ending doesn't destroy a story but thats just me.

2. The game will most likey be very fun- I really enjoyed the demo a lot and I'm looking forward to multiple play throughs. If the gameplay is great than I'll probably like it enough to play more than once. It boggles my mind how people are willing to throw great gameplay out that window just because of the last part of the game.

Now we get to the controversial part, my opinion on the reaction. I'll try to be respectful as possible. Personally, I feel a lot of people are blowing this out of proportion. The game isn't even out yet and some are demanding Bioware's blood. Unfortunatley, BSN has developed a negative reputation acording to some other forums I'm a member of and tragically I can see why. I used to enjoy reading these boards (I'm pretty shy on the web) but the negativity is just out of control. A least give the game a try before you unleash the kraken. I bet it won't be as bad as it seems once the endings are contextualized.

I view video games as art and artists don't just create their work for others but also for themselves. This is how Mac Walters wanted to end Mass Effect and even  if I don't like it I respect his wishes. Allright i'm pretty much done here so I'll end this by wishes everyone a happy Tuesday and good hunting.

lol you should rerail it, and put it back on the rails...

I've learned when a thread is almost at 500 pages the topic title becomes irrelevant. Heck I'm sure someone here as proven Godwin's Law by now.

Basically, the problem is quite simply that I don't particularly enjoy depressing ending, and that there are better alternatives out there - I also play Skyrim, Fallout:NV and CoD.

If I can't get a satisfactory ending in ME3 then I will simply bin the game and go back to playing Skyrim, albeit being unhappy for wasting £60 on another (predictably bad, after DA2 and SWTOR) Bioware game.

A least give the game a try before you unleash the kraken

After I have paid for the game, I might just as well use the game as a novelty coaster for all Bioware will care.

Whether or not video games are art is neither here nor there.  Art gets critiqued all the time.

Mac Walters doesn't owe us anything (except maybe some hours of our
lives back), but we're still free to criticize as we please, provided we
follow the forum posting rules.  Perhaps if you don't want to see our
criticisms, you shouldn't read this thread.

That and his announcments are increasingly at odds with reality.

Sure. I can understand. But not all of us are like that. And this is a video game that has promised us from the start that choices mattered. That our decisions would have a big impact on the events to unfold. Turns out our choices are just different roads to get to the same bitter end. I'm sure I'll enjoy the game, but the ending is an absolute dealbreaker. It feels like a betrayal (yes, I am whining).

Good for you. Me, I don't really like the gameplay. The new features didn't appeal to me. I played for the story. Many of us do.

Yeah, I can understand that. The ****storm is massive and I can't even imagine what's gonna happen two days from now.

Yes, we are being negative. We are because some of us poured a part of ourselves into this game for *six years*. I'm personally not buying the game on release, because I have no interest in paying 60 dollars to have my heart ripped out. I'll wait for reviews or wait for the price to go down.

Sorry, but I disagree on this one. If Mac Walters wanted to write something for himself, by all means, let him do it. But he is creating a product intended for a certain target that is going to *sold* to other people. Saying "But *I* like it and so should you!" is not a good business strategy. Besides they repeatedly claim they listen to the fans. And they do. They really do. But I see no fan who asked for such an ending. And it surprises me they thought we did want something like this.

Happy Tuesday to you too. ^_^

Considering all the people that are going to die I'm sure that there would have been plenty  of orphans for Sheploo and Miranda to adopt if they wanted (as it seemed to me in LotSB that Miranda wanted kids). Plus if you have a Colonist or and Earthborn Shep it might mean more to them to adopt if your canon shep wants kids

Wait...so the fears were true...the auto dialogue is actually confirmed?....dear god...what else can they actually screw up!?

yup, basicly ACTION MODE: COD gameplay all is auto dialogue;
                      ROLE-PLAYING MODE: ME gameplay huge amount of auto dialogue and dumb down 3 choices dialogue;
                      STORY MODE: just watching how game goes, without playing it LOL

It is nowhere NEAR COD gameplay.

But yes, there is quite a bit of auto-dialogue...  The bit's that I've seen weren't too bad, but I've not seen much of ME3 and the general consensus is that there is a lot of auto-dialogue.

All I hope is that the endings are better in-game than the half-assed descriptions we've been getting...
But that vid of the Guardian dialogue.... I don't have much hope.

I will correct myself, it's GOW gameplay, whitch I don't mind, but auto dialogue, plot and endings, are just :sick::crying::sick::crying::sick::crying::sick:

I listened to some dialogue between Garrus and Tali that actually made this plausible to me, and I had thought of them previously as sort of sibling-like.  We'll see.

But the game IS out, pretty much.  There's footage and audio files and all that, all out there in the open.
