Its still bioware's fault for doing this but I believe EA corrupted them and "ohhhhhhh we need the cod crowd." WTF you already have BF3!

And see, this is exactly what we got with ME2. It's no surprise that people were expecting the same for ME3.Johnnycide wrote...

THat is somewhat a concern - the real issue is Sheppard deserves to live, with his crew, his friends, and with his L1. This cut scene BS is lazy, pointless, and dumb - just get me my opportunity for the above, that chance for life - we'll take care of rebuilding.Elegana wrote...
Actually I think it should be, Shepard deserves to live if he made the right choices. Shepard should get this craptastic ending if you played like a moron or wanted it. But then again that would be assuming your decisions actually matter.

We should not have to make up a whole wall of text to make the ending not horrible. That's supposed to be BW's job -- to write a solid conclusion and answer all the questions in a "satisfactory" way. Instead we are left with desparate fanwanking on at least a dozen open problems at the end.
Not the least of which is where sheps brain went at the end. I mean, seriously.
'Hi, I'm the system that controls all Reapers and if you've been paying attention this game, killing the thing that controls the reaper labotomizes it since we retconned thier free will. Oh, and you are inside my most sensative area"
And Shep does not stop to wonder 'I'm carrying a Cain and enugh explosives to fling a Mako into orbit... Why do I only have three choices again?"

Well, according to a new thread in the spoiler section. Garrus and Tali hook up if they are not your LI and they both are alive after endgame
What the **** where did that come from? Tali and garrus don't even particularly hang out or like eachother. How do they even know that?
It was in the leaked script and there is a vid on youtube with some of the dialogue.

I think they were going for some kind of luddite symbolism, and didn't expect anyone would think things through to their logical conclusion.HairyMadDog1010 wrote...
The funny thing is I think bioware was trying to make a happy ending buy sending the normady away. My reasoning is that if you screw up and kill earth your crew is still alive, and there are still humans out there, and they may not be inbread depending if more ships got launched with them as it is rumored or if they landed on a coloney world.
"Oh, look at the pretty forest!"
"Yeah... what are they supposed to eat?"

HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD BE HAPPY IF THE NORMANDY WAS RESCUED AFTER THE CRASH?
This seems to be the big issue; I know it's the problem with me.

I'd be happy if they didn't get stranded in the first place. Joker fleeing the battle makes zero sense. Maybe I lack context though.

And I havent played Duex Ex so i'm assuming the ending is similar as well altho someone probably has to give me a run down (dont mind the spoiler).
Deus Ex:HR had rather vague endings about the fate of human society and global politics, leaving the future rather open ended. It was actually more acceptable there because the game is a prequel and has a known future, though the game's endings were very minimalistic in that they were simply philosophical narrations over several bits of public domain footage of world culture.
It's compared to this because the ending "choice" happens in a similar way--in an area where you simply choose what ending you want regardless of previous game choices, like a contestant in "Let's make a Deal" choosing what's behind curtain #1, #2, or #3 at the end of the show. However, DE:HR at least had some optimistic outcomes in its choices.
Sorry, I have to correct you. The comparison is not being made to DE:HR but to the original Deus Ex game which was released in the year 2000.
The comparison seems apt to me, because Deus Ex also had quite similar DESTROY, CONTROL and MERGE endings. (<-- links lead to Deus Ex [2000] ending videos)
I think the endings of Deus Ex were very appropriate for the dystopian tone set in the game itself. I would say that in their context they were even somewhat positive. I liked them a lot, they seemed fitting to me.
On the other hand, if you put these types of endings in the context of a space opera like Mass Effect...

I'd be happy, but the ending is full of plot holes still so I wouldn't be "satisfied" with the overall ending, but I'd have alot less to complain about.
