It's funny...people asked for children in the game, and then child death being portrayed or inferred and then..this gets crammed down the stories throat.

Yeah, it doesn't really make a lot of sense but at least they put some emotion in Shepard, unlike the previous games, when he had less emotion that Steven Seagal.

I think you mean personality, Shepard was able to display emotion in certain scenes. But now they've kinda forced a personality onto Shepard or at least a personality disorder.

Yeah I meant personality. And you're right it is kinda forced, but I don't know, I guess I'm just trying to get something good out of this whole mess

Oh god, it's the Red Queen from Resident Evil all over again.
...
Wait, I hope the reason why they added the kid into the game wasn't so they could just have this happen. I bloody hell hope not.

No they added the kid so his quick and relatively painless death could completely traumatize Shepard.
Seriously, halfway through the game s/he starts having PTSD dreams about not saving the kid..
And then the telepathi AI that is Citadel uses the kids form to manipulate Shepard...

Hmm... didn't know that part. The whole dreams about not saving the kid thing... Doesn't change anything though...

I didn't know that part either. God dang it my Shepard knows that countless kids died due to Reapers and he won't be worried about it. NO My Shepard is going to be worried about never getting to hash his feeling for Samara out and deal with the near kiss they shared in ME2, My Shep wants to know where he stands with Samara because the Reapers may kill them both and they may never get a chance to be open with each other on how they feel.

My Shep is going to be more worried about that dang Bartain Balek runnin around out there still and wants him to pay for the Bring Down the Sky events.

My Shepard would be more worried about a sh!tton more personal relationships and stuff that is unfinished than some dumb kid who told Shepard "You can't help me" and then the kid ran off and got killed.
That kid's not the only kid who got killed by the Reapers on Earth I garente that.
My Shepard lost his family on Mindoir to Batarian Slavers he don't have time to worry about the dumb earth kid he saw die, But speaking of Mindoir My Shepard would want to find out how Talitha is doing from "I remember Me' in ME1 before the reapers end things/

I like how personl you went In to your Shepard, to bad bioware decided to screw us.

The kid thing does annoy me, it seemed cool at first but I had no idea they were going to have dreams about it throughout the game.

It's like they tried too hard to build a connection to the galaxy when the most important aspect and connection to the galaxy has always been the crew, who they royally screwed over.

If you think about it. What choice did they have when adding multi-player and action mode?

Nope. Count me in too. It does have positive feedback so far. I might give it a go.
When I purchase the game. Like, in a year or so.

Exactly!
Obviously BW is trying to force an emotional connection on players, to make us care, to really drive home that every second innocent people are dying..
But that could have been accomplished far more efficiently by doing so with characters we actually know..
By pushing our connection to our crew and the risk to them and their families, they could have created a completely natural and unforced sense of urgency and determination..

Instead of this poorly executed emotional manipulation...

See that's one of the endings I want, Shepard just saying Nope.avi and then leaving maybe to hide only to die a coward's death later, or maybe to see if he can do what the Protheans attempted back on Ilos and outlast the galactic genocide.

I was thinking more along the lines of what was to be one of the original plot endings. You say F-Reapers. They all make big boom-boom. You and your coalition of badasses (Normandy included) take your chances. Essentially the Good Destroy ending w/o certain shenanegans.

Although I think the ending sucks, and I don't understand why the altered Keeper's signal made a difference and Sovereign needed to get manual control if there is a Catalyst AI onboard the Citadel.

I do understand the logic behind why a species would be desperate enough to ascend themselves into Harbinger and a horrifying nightmare cycle such as the Reapers. The first Reaper probably just about managed to destroy synthetics before they destroyed everything.

Some of you are missing the point there. Theoretically, organics will create synthetics that outsmart and outclass them everytime and strip all resources from the galaxy which would eventually kill off every last shred of bacteria so nothing to evolve from, so no organic life, ever again.

The only irony comes in that in order to ensure that the path will be predictable so that they can stop it everytime, the Reapers push organics down their own technology path which also lead to the singularity. To ensure consistancy and logic as opposed to taking a chance on organics developing a technology path that ''may or may not lead to benevolent synethics''

What the Reapers are doing is a makeshift solution because they couldn't think of any other way and doing their best to preserve the essence of what they destroy, which is ONLY advanced civilisations when they get to the point of which they are creating dangerous AI, they leave primitive ones alone.

Also remember that the Reapers were held back like 10,000 years too late thanks to the Protheans changing the citadel. Sovereign was forced to work with what it had including the Geth who were more easy to manipulate but it hated the geth - it was clearly stated by Saren that it didnt appreciate them worshipping it, that he was insulted by it. The Geth represent what ultimately becomes the singluarity as they self build and self improve - they should never have happened but the Reapers weren't able to get there early enough.

You know I've been reading up on the whole tech singularity thing...
And it just kind seems like BS to me..
There's no actual evidence of it.. it's a doomsday theory...
In the ME universe we've actually seen evidence of synthetics and organics living together in peace..
And the AI that have turned hostile do NOT seem capable of rewriting their base code to make themselves unimaginably inttelligent..
Not if three organics could kill them all in like 20 minutes...

So the creation of the reapers and the eon long cycle of genocide was the knee-jerk reaction of som nameless scientist of a nameless species that was afraid that theory MIGHT happen..

That is just messed up!

That's my point though, the highly advanced race that created the first Reaper, decided on their own around 37 million years ago that everytime we would lead ourselves to this path where Synthetics would screw everyone over. They obviously got screwed over pretty bad to be brought to this desperate solution.

They took it upon themselves to force every future organic down the same technological path and to the same fate in order to play it safe rather than risk the next generation of organics getting themselves wiped out all together by a technology path that the Reapers would be unable to understand or stop.

They are not right or wrong... it's their opinion. But all future organics were forcibly subjected to it.

The endings are pretty harsh and unfairly done in the sence that you have to pick the Control ending or Synthesis ending if you want to save synthetics. Both of which result in Shepard's death no matter how hard you worked to avoid it and all 3 endings still resulting in Normandy being doomed to a colony, dead or alive. So even if you pick those 2 sacrifice options there isn't any reward for it other than knowing you're saving the Geth and EDI.

I think back to the claims that adding multiplayer and a seperate Action!Mode wouldn't effect the quality of the single player experience...
And I just laugh... or cry.. both more or less...

No, THIS is what insanity is like...

I'm with you, guys. I never play any multiplayer mode, so I hope it will be not necessary to get a satisfying ending in ME 3.

I wish they had just stayed single player. That could have been time/money to be used to make a true ME game.

No. I too, have little interest in it at best.  I'm just not the type who plays MMO's and uses the multiplayer option in games where it's offered..

I think that from now to Friday, half the world really calm, and knowing everything about the game.

people with a final video are beginning to say that some things are magic space where they have not seen the course of the game, make yourselves the questions when you have beaten the game, and see if there is a hole

Jesus! My Shepard is forced into dream of some random Brat? WTF? I've came up with a sh!t ton of stuff my Shepard would be kept awake at night and none of them are that stupid child in the demo.

My Shepard's history is Colonist. Parents died on Mindior raid. Sole Survivor of Akuze, (other than Toombs who is alive yet), and all the sh!t he's seen in ME1 and 2 and this is what keeps me up at night?
NO I SAY NO! My Shepard ME has been dealing with physiological torments for A LONG TIME What keeps ME (Shepard) up at night if anything is the fact that I want to know where I stand with Samara, I want to air our feeling out before the big Reaper fights.
Kaidan having died on Virmire.
That Colonist lady getting liquified in the collector base (I save my whole crew).
The fact I was helpless to save however many Batarians died in the Arrival DLC.

Not some twerp kid, What is my Shepard being turned into Micheal Jackson? My Shepard is become a pedophile. Damn! Sh!T and That's Whacked!

It is strange to think out of all the things our Shepard has been through it's a child they've seen for less than a few moments that breaks them.

Hell, I'd think if you are faced with Tali commiting suicide that has to trump it.

I've got a pretty defined Shep as well. **** with a heart of gold. Colonist and sole survivor. Has no clue as to how to hit on a guy (good thing she's getting hit on instead). Definitely not a girl who would be woken up at night because of some random kid who died back on Earth.
