Dammit, endings just plain suck - just seen all of them on youtube full walkthroughs :pinched:

Not only can you choose from those 3 endings in one playthrough if you gather enough reputationwar assets e.t.c (which is lame - no incentive to replay quests differently), but they are all essentialy mean the same thing - galactic civilization of organics as we knew it is screwed :pinched::pinched: Not sure where this franchize will go with this bs conclusion in possible future installments - it will be a different game entirely.

On top of that, all your wasted time and emotional investment in squadmembers goes down the big drain with these fubar endings, not even a hint or some extended cutscene there. Just enjoy the view of Joker walking down the screwed Normandy in the middle of nowhere (with possible other unfortunates).
Investing in any LI is pointless - Shepard gets no love, no life and no future in the end. Only hurt. All you get is some old wheezer retelling a creepily built child Shepard's unfortunate story.

I just can't see how devs can say that this is a definite, satisfying and conclusive story:
-what ultimately happened to the galaxy - not shown
-what ultimately happened to the Normandy crew - not shown, but you can draw the unfortunate conlusions
-the state of Earth if Shep survives - not shown
, but you can draw the unfortunate conlusions

And what pissed me off the most is that the game itself is quite good, I've been playing it since yesterday - it elaborately decieves you into thinking that it will end on the same hopeful note as two previos games, maybe a little darker. But no, in the end it  just slams you with a huge dissapointment and unanswered questions, the first of which is - WTF, BioWare???

Anyways, what I mean to say with this rant is that BioWare let their fans down the big way. I will not forget this and I hope many others will not forget too. I'm not gonna rage like mad here, trying to convince BW to make a DLC, a patch or whatever - they made this game, it's final, it's finished, no post-game DLC - confirmed, so I'm not having any foolish hopes on endings retcon. With all that has been said, I'll just finish with saying:

Thanks, BW, it was great while it lasted, but you've just lost a loyal fan here, who's been playing your games since Baldur's Gate saga. And since Baldur's Gate saga you have not provided a better ending.

End of rant.
End of line.

^^^ THIS

Edit:  if it turns out there is no way in hell you can get a decent ending... this will be another faithful bioware fan gone.

I can fully agree with this.

Im only 5 hrs or so into the game and i do like some of the smaller callbacks to 1 and 2. Esp the memorial on the Normandy for the people who died. Dont think ill get to endgame for a week though :P

I don't mind the endings per se, but there isn't much closure between Shepard and his crew. No final words are even exchanged or anything.

Thank you! :)

@topic

Meanwhile I've spoken with a couple of players and they did confirm that there is no happy ending, no matter what you choose. There's really only one with slight variance. With the words of a far better writer: "One Ending to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." :crying:

very poetic to quote tolkien (also you modified it to fit better ;))

but yeah, you are right again ^^

as for letting bioware know in a civilized manner?...i would agree, if i saw a chance that they would listen...ATM i do not see that (as they did not change anything in their game, after the first - and big - leak caused an uproar and dismay among those who read it!)

Sad to say, but you're propably right. But I can't hardly believe that BioWare did really opine this ending would be satisfying for the majority of their fans. It seems so disconnected from reality. :alien:

Bioware. Free DLC. Now.
I don't need to say more. You've ruined my favorite series.

Hmm delicious tears... If you were really that dissapointed you wouldnt even be here anymore. Next year Bioware will show its next IP and you will be all over it. Do you really think they care so much about your complains?

It's worth trying - Bethesda did change the ending of Fallout 3 too.

Well, according to the Prima strategy guide, there's a total of eight endings along two paths:

The key factor is apparently whether you destroyed the Collector Base or kept it.

From there, there are eight variant endings based on your level of total readiness, for a total of sixteen endings.

PCgamer.com review called the ending a "mixed bag." I think this is it folks.....
But you know what? I am playing the game right now and it is a blast. The combat is much better than Mass Effect 2, I'm having fun triggering warp explosions with kaiden and liara. Also surprisingly, James Vega is more interesting than I thought he would be. We're off to a good start...

warp-explosion? (you skilled the explosive-warp then...or is this a combination with other biotics?)

well, i will see this evening (my origin (i still hate that, but only with this i can play after zero hundred hours :) and i get all pre-order stuff and collectors-edition stuff, too) copy wont let me play earlier)

Just to clarify, by warp explosion i meant detonating biotics.  I find myself doing it a lot more than I did in ME2

1UP gave the gave a very positive review, but the reviewer mentioned that he felt annoyed by the ending, and compared it to Lost and the Sopranos

Does this indicate the possibility of a happy/everyone lives without being stranded on a planet ending that nobody has found yet?

Ah, but that's pure madness then 'cause for the new players game assumes by default that the Collector's Base was destroyed, meaning that new players will never be able to get certain endings... Just madness if that's true. I really hope that BW didn't tie this ending thing to the final decision of ME2. It doesn't concern me, but it's just not fair to new comers, honestly, especially 'cause they were promised that ME3 is perfect place to start too.

It's not like LOST. Not in any real sense. When LOST ended, we still didn't know what the island was. Or why. We do find that out about the Reapers.

The ending of this game is pretty unsatisfactory, but I'd say it's because it's just poor. Not because it's inconclusive.

It is like lost because it's ending sucked. ME3's ending sucked. Both their endings sucked.

That's a uselessly broad similarity. They suck for different reasons.

But still, they suck. Oh well, by the time I've worked through part of my 2nd playthrough, I bet there will be a "Broken Steel" DLC from all the negative feedback, unless there is a perfect NG+ ending.

meaning you use your biotics more now?...hm...i haven't played yet, but in ME2 (i did another play-through, also i didn't want to, just to be ready for ME3 ^^) i tossed those around like candy  (doesn't mean i always used them when cooldown was ready, just when i either had a good shot, when the enemy was worth it (like harbinger or eclipse merchs with barriers) or when there were just so many enemies that otherwise i would have been stuck in the middle of them (like taking husks out with a neat shockwave *grins evily* :D

as for the endings, well they still suck  and yeah, i might not re-play the game (i will save before making the choice for the ending, reload twice and be done with ME3)

so, yeah, i want a damned "happy (as happy as surviving a galactic extinction campaign can be)" ending DLC :alien::?

greetings LAX

I've never seen lost, just repeating what the 1up review said. I personally don't have a huge problem with what I have heard so far about the endings, but I'm still in the early stages of the game. It's great so far.

So you have no problem with Shepard horribly vaporizing and the crew getting stranded on some planet which pretty much means Garrus and Tali will die of starvation?

I don't plan on bringing Garrus and Tali with me, and I have no problem with Shepard dying to save the galaxy. The ending does not seem amazing or anything, but I don't think it will be terrible either. I don't know, I haven't seen it for myself yet. Anyways, my canon femshep did 100% of the side quests/dlc and took every paragon choice possible in ME 1&2, so I'm hoping I can get the ending that shows her breathing, suggesting that she made it through the ordeal.

The ending doesn't really bother me at all. It still sounds less stupid than melting humans to make a reaper. I thought Mass Effect 2's ending and final boss were pretty bad, but it's still one of my favorite games of the past few years because the rest of the game is so good.

My only complaint so far is that the amount of dialogue choice is DRASTICALLY reduced. There's a ton of auto-dialogue. It still lets you make some dialogue choices, but it's noticeably less than ME1&2.
