lets be honest here. the only reason people hate the endings is because of the li deal and imo i think thats kind of retarded on many levels

I am being honest. My Shepard doesn't even have a romance.

It ends with an incident of friendly fire for no reason whatsoever. The ending is stupid.

the ending is all about sacrifice.

and also According to IGN there are 16 total endings.

Link or list?

looking for it now. i found out about it from a poster over there so let me poke around a bit

I'll comment on the ending when I've completed it.

But I'll comment this far - it's simply not possible for the ending to 'ruin' the game for me at this point. The game thus far and the surprisingly good multiplayer have secured this as a good game, regardless of my opinion of the ending.

I went through the entire game thinking this. I thought...no ending can suck that bad, it is just a bunch of trolls on the BW forums again...

Then I beat the game. It is just...deflating.

I suspect, though, that EA/Bioware is going to pull a Fallout 3 on us for more $$.

I'd love it if they gave us Broken Steel. What I fear is them giving us another Witch Hunt.

It's not that the ending discredits the game as a good game.

It's that the ending leaves nothing but a bitter, unfulfilled taste in your mouth.  You don't want to play it again, you feel devoid of your connection to the story, the universe, and the characters.

Part of me thinks the feeling disconnection is intentional on behalf of Bioware, but the degree of this disconnection was overdone.

I'll have more when I finish.

The game is fantastic, but the ending makes you feel like playing it or the other games again is pointless.

Yep~ Yep~ I think most of us like the game overall. I enjoy the combat a lot, I have reservations about the "auto-dialogue", it took some time to get used to but I can get over that.....biggest issue is the end goal of the series sours the whole experience. The power of a good ending is incredible. The power of choice in an ending is something we have expected. At least to a certain degree. Everything you have done in the series becomes invalid in the end and maybe some people don't mind that but I did.

Simply won't play the singleplayer till there is some fix to this. Period.

Good god Bioware what have you done to this game!? I saluted, cried, laughed and pumped my fist so often in the air while playing the first two games and then you go and butcher it all in the so called "Final" with those good for nothing endings...

My Shepard deserves better than that. Hell - "I" - as a fan deserve better than that!

^^ this guy nailed it!  I did all those emotions through the first two games LOL  it was soooo much fun, and exciting! :o

If they remain in silence, we should send them the mighty panda to convince them of the need of a better ending:

Never say no to the panda!

Well, as i sit here ( not much choice of doing anything else as i'm disabled )thinking about the game, it becomes more and more apparent to me that Bioware developed a game that could transition to a multi player style FPS and later, have the entire game turn into an mmorpg. They appear to not carte about the ending nor the individuals that do. They want the focus where the game truly shines, in the middle, with no future and no ending. Considering what theyve done to star wars alone, its really sad. I guess theyre asking to be put out of business. Out of our misery.

Finished the game.

I didn't mind the ending per se, but I didn't like the lack of closure at all. It made little sense that Joker would pick up my squad when the Reaper was attacking. They half-assed it.

I wonder... how many of you hated the ending of the Matrix Trilogy?  The reason I ask is because a lot of people thought that ending sucked because it turned out it was all a sham to stop a rogue Agent program.  Nobody ever actually left the Matrix and humanity remained enslaved in the end.  Thing is, that ending was classic cyberpunk.  You have no hope, you will die and all your struggles will have been in vain, but you still don't give up.

Now, I haven't beat the game yet, but I from what's been said on this thread... I'll probably like the ending because I like classic cyberpunk no hope but we fight anyway.   I've seen from the beginning that aspect.  The Reapers are confident. The Reapers are strong.  The Protheans thought they could win.  They failed.  Whether we defeat the Reapers or not, the odds are against us.

Some said it seems people want a happy ending with rainbows, flowers and a big orgy.  .  This game has never been rainbows, and I think it would be a disservice to the genre for it to have a TOTALLY happy ending.

Hogwash.  No one has asked for rainbows or free pony rides.  They just want an ending that isn't full of "space magic" written by a 2 year old.

A perfectly acceptable end would have been shepard and anderson (as both sat dying) to watch as a signal went out that killed the reapers and shut down all their hardware - that would include the citadel and relays.  It would be an easy sell that this signal could cause a massive power spike that fried all their cpu's and circuits causing catastrophic failure (such that they are unusable and fit only for salvage).  This would spare the geth and technology but would strand the fleet around earth with no prospect of reaching home.  Final cut scene could be a classroom full of young students from all races and a teacher closing a book - and commenting  on how brave commander shepard was or something along those lines (insert moral lessons or whatever floats your boat).  Another option could have been a miliarty funeral for Shepard attended by the Normandy crew and those of the fleet/ground force/civilians who survived the battle.

Make achieving this ending extremely hard to give folks a reason to carefully plan their actions and BANG 99% of the crying would stop.   As it is I can't find the will to play this game or any other game of the series knowing that all the time I invest in gathering materials and people just results in them dying with no sense of purpose or closure.

The endings as they are aren't sad or grim or dark, they are just crap on a stick.

Same here....but at least a Witch Hunt type DLC would be something. Though I fear they won't give us anything at all.

Man I was enjoying Mass Effect 3 alot. Till the frikkin ending! It totally ruined my whole Mass effect experience, wish I never seen these endings, bah.
I dont even want to replay this game anymore. They better be making a happy ending of some sorts, I'll even pay for it. Really.... I just wanted a nice happy ending, how hard was that to make.

I never post on the forums, but figured I can add to one of the thousands of comments here. I just... It's like the last ten minutes of the game I fell asleep on my keyboard or something, that would be the only logical explanation for that particular experience. This was just... what the hell?

The worst thing is that I *wanted* a sacrifice ending for this Shepard. I knew halfway for the game that if there was an "ultimate sacrifice" style ending, this character would take it (That option is one of my favorite things about DA:O). Then the ending came up and it turned out sacrifice was mandatory (I don't play multiplayer). Welp, there goes all the meaning and characterization, since my selfish character just gets a slightly altered version of the exact same sacrifice my full paragon did. And all of the alliances I spent so much time carefully putting together mean... absolutely nothing.

I wish I just hadn't finished the damned game, I was riding *such* an emotional story high and had so many plans for subsequent playthroughs... until that last sequence killed it. All desire to play more: gone.

(Not to mention that I was expecting an epic boss battle, not a bit of running to a railroaded ending that consisted of limping and talking. Killing that reaper on Rannoch *on foot* made me feel so accomplished, killing that damn assassin was satisfying as hell especially with the renegade interrupt. Did Shepard forget her badass pants on the Cerberus station or something? All that mentioning Harbinger specifically coming to kick Shepard's arse... and then nothing?)

I want a proper ending, I won't accept this trilogy end like this. There will never be another Mass Effect for me and I know other people feel the same way about this series. It is simply another cutscene, an easy fix, and if we get enough support there's no reason it shouldn't be changed.

You know what would be kind of cool, but impossible?

If we could organize a very really campaign where everyone plays the game up until the ending and then ALT+F4s. Bioware keeps metrics on where people stop playing the game and what ending they choose. And it would be fantastic if their metrics included that of the people who got to the final area, only a few of them chose any ending at all.

Take a fourth option, if you will. It'll never happen. But a man can dream.

Turians and Humans are too biologically different. If you eat turian food you die for example. The best an interspecies couple could do would be to adopt.- and I bet there would be plenty of children after the war. Unless your dating an asari that is.

But seriously bioware you gave us THIS? **** me. I wish someone would just kill me. This is just urgh.

If you could prove to me that bioware do this then that would be the only reason to ever play ME3 ever again.  I will never touch Mass Effect again if this is what we have.
