The happy there was getting the chance to say goodbye to all the squaddies, and follow in Mordin's, Legions, Thane's and Grunt's (well, almost) footsteps.

I have my own issues with the game's story (the whole Crucible/Guardian/Catalyst thing springs immediately to mind, I would have preferred a much more humanist resolution without last-minute plot devices), but I have to begrudgingly admit that for my canon Shepard it couldn't have been more perfect. Going from an earthborn/ruthless pure renegade playthrough in 1 into damn near a pure paragon playthrough in 3 turned the whole thing into a story of redemption and sacrifice.
You can have a sacrifice ending without the retarded plot devices at the end though.

No. You shouldent hate Bioware. The game had great writing it was very solid. I just think they brought back the author of Mass Effect: Deception for the ending. Its normal for people to get lazy when they are near the end.
That being said. I know they wont fix their mistake. If I could return my collecters edition for a full refund I would. I just don't see Mass Effect 3 as Cannon.
Bioware. Please don't waste my time again, I can only accept failure so many times.
Thank you.

As I said, I have my own issues with the game's story and structure, and as I said that is one of them. I'm not going to let the last five minutes of a 120-hour playthrough over three games dampen the meaning and impact of the...oh, ninety hours give or take of story and conflict (driving around in the Mako and scanning planets set aside) that came before it.
The way I figure it, regardless of contrivances my hardass no compromise/no BS vanguard still grew a heart and sacrificed her life to permanently end the cycle.

I know what you said and I replied to that with my comment.
If you can not let the ending dampen the experience of all 3 games for you, I commend you, because it sure as hell as dampened the whole thing for me.
But as I said, there's nothing wrong with a sacrifice ending/a non happily ever after ending if only it wasn't full of plot holes and space magic.

I would say that I would pay for a "Better Ending" DLC but that would be lie. If I had to buy the ending I want for my Shepard then I'll just write off the last few minutes of ME3 as non-canon, and be done with it. <_< So much for choice...
I'm finding a small amount of comfort from the fact that I'm not the only one who was upset/very disappointed by the endings.

I guess the sky wizard told Harbinger not to worry, Shepard can't make his own decisions in the end because being provided circular logic from the enemy is really a compelling argument to essentially destroy everything and everyone you love.

So much for Bioware always claiming that "We listen to our fans. We listen to what you say". I don't even mind them saying something that totally shatters our hopes about an alternate ending. I just wish they'd come out and say SOMETHING. They owe us that much.

I also just realized something else, they kind of threw out the entire concept of humanity being special due to our "genetic variance" and the Reapers targeting them specifically because we seemed to be getting in the way and might be able to do something.

Lol Yeah if Shepard makes it up here I'll let him do whatever he wants with my space magic.

Hell, it'd turn into a, albeit cliche, Matrix homage if you go Renegade and Shepard dies for both organic and Synthetic life to live piece fully without succumbing to Reaper logic however. As right now the control option does kind of fit but I didn't choose it because I refused to become one with what I swore to defy..
