Ynh - I wouldn't rely on the forums alone, because as you pointed out, for every good post, there's a bunch that would just grate on the nerves of the mods and devs. If you look it up, there's at least a group on facebook (Demand a better ending for Mass Effect 3, I think it's called).

If we do this right, we can respectfully ask bioware to pay attention to the fans and their wishes. But we have to be mature about it, or we lose any chance of positive attention.

Problem is that as this is a very personal and emotional issue, I doubt many people can keep their cool.

Yeah, I realize that. I was super upset for a while. But that's why I think those of us who *can* think clearly, need to emphasize that we should use this emotion for something good. Because if we act like trolls and try to bully bioware into something, I guarantee we'll get nothing.

I gave two ****s about earth. I did however care about Palavan, Thessia and Rannoch.

I have to admit, all those "Earth is the most important place and I feel horrible about leaving" dialogues I was forced into were downright annoying.

MY Shep saw Earth as a sacrifice to not lose the colonies and Palavan, Thessia, Rannoch, Tuchanka, etc.

She sees the need to keep fighting there, but just that the Reapers dont go elsewhere.

Earth is a symbol of humanity, alright. But humanity can survivor without it...

My question to everyone here is, is Bioware actually going to listen to the people in this 590+ page thread? There are a ton of great constructive posts, but for each one, there are 10 more that are not constructive. I think we should organize something that will get their attention rather than just putting it on their forums (which can be easily ignored or manipulated to their whims).

i just went there and it was closed "because it wasn't story and campaign related end of line" thats what a mod said i mean wtf we're talking abt the ending of the game! its abt the friggin story!!!

I'm not sure what's going on. It's probably them trying to contain the huge amount of rage posts. I'm not going to make any harmful assumptions. What matters is that this thread is still here.

I've heard people claim there's a secret ending for a 2nd play through so I'm trying to hash it out and see. So far, terrible. Every time I lose a squad member all I can do is gouge out my eyes because they basically just died in vain.

Wish me luck people!
I hope my poor heart can make it through the depression one last time

Wow. I can't add anything more to what so many people have said regarding the endings in various threads the last few days. But I thought I would still voice my opinion.

After spending so much time playing and becoming emotionally invested in this franchise the last five years, to see it end like that was just so disappointing. Hundreds of hours of game play and multiple play throughs washed away in a matter of minutes. I looked forward to playing ME3 many times and now I can't see myself playing it again. If I do I can say for sure my game will always stop with Anderson and Shepard looking out at earth. Everything after that never happened.

I completely agree. I had 10-12 playthroughs so I probably would've played ME3 at least 6-8 times...but I am having a hard time doing it once or twice.

It was going to be hard to say goodbye to Shep anyway but.....to say goodbye like this? Horrible and I was never expecting this. I figured Shep could die but like the other games, there would be ways to avoid it if you worked hard enough. I hate gathering the War Assets because in my opinion there is absoutely no point...but I am doing it anyway:pinched:

Am I the only one that is actually having trouble going to sleep. I haven't slept since I finished the game because my mind keeps thinking back to the ending. The only thing keeping me from selling the game is the hope that there is a fix for this nightmare. I would even take BioWare jumping out and saying "Gotcha!"

When it ended I turned off my xbox, gently set down my controller, went into my bedroom and got under the covers and then cried. I honestly felt like there had been a death in the family. My boyfriend thought I was crazy for acting the way i did but I didn't spend five years of my life falling in love with these characters to have it end like this.

Is it so bad to want the "cliche" happy ending for my Shepard?

No, no, you're not the only one. I've felt rather hollow inside since I finished the game last night. I agree. I would sell the game, but I hope eventually they would give us the ending we really want. I think you said what a lot of us are feeling right now. Definitely the part about falling in love with these characters. If Mass Effect hadn't been a trilogy, I don't think some of us would be taking it this hard.

I hate the feeling that everything my Shepard did was thrown in the trash. Sigh. I want to see the "cliche" ending as well. Or something better than what we were given! The fact that I have no idea where or what is going to happen to my crew. I can handle Shepard dying, but everything else is too much. Also, if Shepard lives, what happens? What about the LI? I was really looking forward to seeing some whatever alien race babies Shepard and his LI would have. :/

Exactly!! Well said! If this was an option in the game, I would've gone for it. I would've made sense for most of my Sheps (their characters and past choices).

I remember about a year ago i saw a funny fanmade picture (though, rather well done). "Uncle" Wrex visiting Liara and Sheppard at their home, presenting Sheppard-junior with a shotgun.
But i guess similiar outcome was way too corny for hardcore madskilz of ME3 storywriter.

p.s.
Update. Found it. Not a shotgun, my bad.

Exactly! I think we actually DO have a chance of getting some nice endings :)
No offense, Bioware, these endings were just so... Disappointing. We want something more casual and heroic endings with no one dying and all that jazz. So it wasn't like our efforts to save the galaxy for the length of 3 parts of the game were in vain.
Please, Bioware, I'm begging you! :(

This thread is back! I feel dizzzzzzzy when I see the word "ending" after all.

We really need better endings and most of us are ready to pay for it. Mass Effect universe needs a chance to exist so the entire series becomes the best game in this world. I do not deny options that we already have but we need some real choices instead of just 3 ways to destroy the galaxy.

Everyone is upset because they are basically morning their Shepard. Mass Effect allowed us to escape the dreariness and hopelessness of RL. Now the illusion has been destroyed.

BW fix it like this:
:
Anderson's body travels up with you to the catalyst, If you stopped him from being executed by TIM, and you decide to sacrifice yourself for synthesis, then Anderson appears by your side and makes the sacrifice for you. Cut to LI/squad/Normandy rescuing you.

Please BioWare just make a happy ending with Shepard alive with his LI instead of screwing all the charcters we love over by killing/stranding them on some backdrop planet and relays, citadel not getting blown up to pieces.

You know what the Catalyst should have been? Earth. You can choose to sacrifice Earth to Destroy/Control the Reapers or you can choose to not use the Crucible and hope your fleet is strong enough. That would have been better then these endings. I don't really care about anyone except Tali. In all three endings it is a death sentace for her. In control the Normandy still crashes on some unknown world (because, you know, Normandy was totally not at that fight). Stranded on an unknown world with a nearly destroyed ship is a death sentace for Tali. If she gets a suit rupture she probably won't have enough tech to keep it running. In Synthesis, it is a sentance worse then death. The entire cycle would become nothing more then smarter husks. and in Destory, you are not only dooming Tali, but everyone quarian in the galaxy.

Nah, I doubt anyone wants to see Anderson sacrificing himself.
The best thing is when everyone's alive, huh?

sacrifice is fine by me, the plotholes are not. Being on these forums isn't healthy for the appreciation of the endings btw, Was I at first mildly upset but relativly ok, the more you read the more upset you become. Once the epicness of the rest of the game has cooled down, the plotholes in the end are gaping black holes if you start to consider the story in ME1 and 2 in detail

Roughly been 12 hours since the credits rolled and the Stargazer dude basically Rickroll'd me. Still ... Words cannot adequately describe my disappointment. It's nice to have a place to come to and be among others that understand. Jesus, this feels like a support group and worse, I need one.

CURSE YOU WEIRD LITTLE CATALYST AI CHILD PYJAK BASTARD!!

Sorry.

fix the ending, and I got a perfect game on my hands. I've never seen anything like this before, absolutely amazing (well a few annoyances ie tali's photo shopped "face", really tho rannoch was the perfect time to see that, besides that obvious part in ME2 also), but they bombed it SO HARD at the ending that it just exterminates the want to ever touch this game again! something is amiss here, no way you can make an ending that bad on accident. what is the reason?

Yep. That would've been great. But I think the writers cared too much about the whole Take Back Earth plot to do that...*sighs*

OMG. that rage face just made me laugh for the first time since I finished the game. <3

But yeah, all I want from Bioware is a statement about this.

The most disappointing thing is we were led to believe we could get our happy ending. The best ending was bittersweet at best and thats stretching it.
