The most disappointing thing is we were led to believe we could get our happy ending. The best ending was bittersweet at best and thats stretching it.

Indeed.

We were mislead more than once.

LOL! Oh man...that is hilarious. I can't believe they actually said that....

Btw, a little offtop here.
Is it just me or this kid appearing in the game multiple times is really annoying and makes you want to punch him in his face? o_o

I firmly believe Shepard felt guilty about not saving that child, and whatever manifested itself on the crucible used the image of what Shepard felt most guilt for to present itself.

I thought everyone thought that.

Personally though, my Shepard would have bad dreams about the people she cared about dying (those who died during the game like in canon + those in the crew still alive) and not some kid.

you know I wonder if Bioware is even reading these anymore (or ever did for that matter). If another thread opens up about the bad endings someone shuts it down and says there are several threads like this.

Are they condensing all the threads to make it easier to read or so they can ignore the few threads that are out there.

Condensing so they can ignore and say that all is well is Mass Effect Land.

And I seriously doubt they are actually reading the threads, even the Fan Review thread that was set up for that purpose. And their response for so many displeased fans? Having the Sturmfuhrers in the Bioware Mod Squad lock 'em down left and right. Having one or two threads is easier for Bioware ignore.

First all caps post on the forums.

THANK YOU BIOWARE FOR MOVING THE THREAD WHERE IT BELONGS!

I wanted to make that be very bold because I sincerely mean it. Just shows you're not trying to hide it and that this is important to you, at least enough to keep emphasis on it. Thank you.

You know what the Catalyst should have been? Earth. You can choose to sacrifice Earth to Destroy/Control the Reapers or you can choose to not use the Crucible and hope your fleet is strong enough.

Yep. That would've been great. But I think the writers cared too much about the whole Take Back Earth plot to do that...*sighs*

Thats the beautiy of it though. Do you sacrafice Earth to make sure they won't come back, or push them off of Earth and hope they don't come back? Or, it could have been sacrafice Earth to Save the Galaxy, or Sacrafice the Galaxy for Earth. Do you sacrafice your own home world for an entire galaxy that didn't head your warnings?

Exactly. To me those are seriously choices. Those are interesting and dynamic choices. And it would've been wonderful to see that play out...

Question; when you're doing the mad dash for the citadel beam/conduit take #2 and everyone gets owned, can you actually see your squadmates there? Because I was running with Liara and Garrus, and after the Reaper reaped everyone, I couldn't see their bodies.

I actually didn't even see them running with me, after I got a nice dose of raining fire, I didn't see them anywhere either so I figured they had retreated or stayed behind.

That however doesn't explain why they decided to go back to the Normandy and make a Relay Jump.

I just don't understand how earth was fine and safe and yet the normandy got caught in some sort of explosion? What is going on? What is the context here?

The rest of the game is so amazing and answers everything. I cannot believe they kept telling up that this would be a satisfying ending. Even my roommates are pissed now after watching the endings. Even THEM who have not been into the game themselves can see the MAJOR plot holes with those endings.

"the endings will be controversial" said the reviewers. No duh. I am 100% sure that the endings were the reason most reviewers did not give this game a solid 10 but gave it a 9.5.

I mean, even an ending where you could make each reaper seed a world with the DNA of each species it 'reaped' so those species could start evolution anew from the primordial muck would have been a better ending. I just saw no logical reason in each ending that the relays had to be destroyed, or that shepard had to die no matter what. I mean what you have left over is scattered remnants of each civilization all over the place, and stuck in the dark ages with no hope of going back home.

I mean, what of each alien race that will be stuck on earth? How will that play out? Not well if you ask me. Humans cant even get along with each other. Also, why can't i have a conversation with who just might be the most important person/thing in the galaxy, the catalyst. I get no dialogue wheel. Just 3 choices, each worse than the other, and I'm supposed to just jump into each without a second thought.

So I beat the game, picked the biosynthesis ending, but I'm...finding that I lack the emotion to convey here.

I think I just really wanted a happy ending for Shepard and squad. Which we didn't get.

I hate that, I think.

Haha, the best part about the three assy choices of DOOM is that if you actually take too long, you just die and get a game over. And that's not even all that long. I died while still being in disbelief at how bad it all was.

Same here I choose Synthesis but afterwards I just got a bad taste in my mouth. Like really I even rebooted it and choose the destroy option because even though it kills Edi and the geth at least the citadel survives. And from teh citadel they can find a way to rebuild the Mass relays I hope

Yeah, standard game over and a message that says "The Crucible was destroyed" or some ****.

Ok, now I'm just gonna spam this thread with a question:

How can they fix it? We know the problem. What's the answer?

Options. Give me options.

Well, I say 'I was running with Liara and Garrus', but you're right. I didn't see them running with me. I can't fathom why they'd stay behind, or board the Normandy, and this is all before the inexplicable relay usage.

I've been trying to figure out the logic behind a lot of this, and I can't say that I've had much success.

Well there's no way in heck they thought this would be a satisfying "conclusion", so it's either an outright f- you to the fans, or a clever marketing scheme to get us to buy ending DLC. It's ingenious really. that's what I think tho

The last scene with the space child was a fever dream of Shepard and in reality teh crucible simply deactivated the reapers and the next scene we either see Shepard wake up next to Anderson in a hospital bed or we see his funeral on the citadel.

Or call it non cannon.

Like Fallout Brotherhood of Steel. For the Fallout Universe.

I think that Bioware should definitely give us additional endings for Mass Effect 3. The way the game ended was a knee to the gut - there was no sense of accomplishment in the ending. Hundreds of alien species were now stranded on the Sol galaxy (which is probably drained of resources and certainly doesn't have the additional food types required for turians and quarians) not to mention our beloved crewmates who are stranded on some backwater planet. I don't mind Shepard's sacrifice but she wouldn't have died to kill the Reapers if she knew hundreds of aliens might starve because of it. What's the point in saving a galaxy if everyone but humans die?

Although, with the Paragon/Renegade, you'd think there would be an actual choice for Shepard to save everyone against the odds. But no, that's too cliche to be the hero. The funny thing is what everyone thinks is cliche actually turns out to be the thing people want most. If the character/love interest dies in a story I get pretty angry.

With all the **** Shepard has been through I think she deserves at least a chance for a happier ending. It doesn't even have to be Disney! Just happier. I don't know - she and Garrus go mercenary hunting for a honeymoon or something.

To be fully honest I just wanted My crew to live. To see what happened to them. Instead i got something stupid. Like a jungle planet with monkey noises. I figured that Shepard was going to die. Its the ultimate Sacrifice. But i believe that There is to many lose ends. Who is the god child. Why does he randomly appear. They made everything so more difficult to understand in a matter of 15 mins and didnt explain any of it. They just left us with more questions then answers. You dont see how the universe is after everything happened cause of the path you chose. I feel that maybe they should show people rebuilding. The epilogue doesnt explain anything except that there still is life. But the story was alot bigger than that. They should have just ended it with anderson and Shepard sitting there. Its to emotional for it to end on something ridiculous like that. The relays and everything made sense. Get rid of reapers, equals no more reaper technology. The relays was reaper tech. So getting rid the reapers gets rid of the mass relays. But taking control shouldnt have destroyed the relays. Sense you are only taking them back to dark space. Lot of loop holes that were not filled. And i am sadly disappointed. Mass Effect series will forever be the greatest game with 100 hours of gameplay in the trilogy but ruins it in a matter of 15 mins. Bioware has done what was thought to be impossible. Wow
