Do you guys think they will actually make a better ending for the game? Or just try to explain everything and do absolutely nothing about it. I honestly don't think they'll do anything about this mess but make us even more pissed.

Doubt it.
If they haven't said anyhing by now, which would be a smart move in order not to lose customers, i doubt they'll do it later.
Instead, they'll probably go with the "time heals wounds" on the raging fans.

With Dragon Age 2's faulty story and now this terrible ending to a great series I don't think I'd have any faith left in Bioware if they didn't put in a DLC. I'd stop buying.

Lets say they did by a chance make DLC to fix it how much would they charge us you think?

I haven't finished the game as of yet, about half way through it in one play through and just cannot motivate myself to finish the game. However, something else struck me as just not making sense, I can understand the desire to save Earth for humans, but in the first meeting with the Council, the Asari Councilor said something along the lines of sacrificing Earth to allow the rest of the galaxy a fighting chance against the Reapers, and from a strategic stand point this makes absolute sense to me.

Now for the endings, WTF? If you are going to pull out the bloody Dues Ex Machina go all out and have the fairy tale happy ending. If you are going to destroy everything anyway, leave the Dues Ex Machina out of it, there's no need for it if you're destroying everything anyway.

I am not happy about the endings as I have seen them, which goes back to killing my motivation to finish the game. That and the Technological Singularity logic circle the put in regarding the Reapers. Just thinking about that gives me a headache.

Baldur's Gate had two endings - to accept your destiny and transcend to godhood, or to give up your divine spark and remain mortal. As much as I loved my party and as much as I was attached to my LI, I still picked godhood because it made sense for my story to end that way.

The ending was absolutely satisfying, and I still consider Baldur's Gate to be the best epic tale told in RPG. It would have been Mass Effect, if not for the ending.

Indeed, Bioware has it in them to pull off a good ending. I'm not sure why the dropped the ball so hard here.

If they charge more than fifteen dollars for it, I'm rioting. That's extortion.

Am I the only one that is actually having trouble going to sleep. I haven't slept since I finished the game because my mind keeps thinking back to the ending. The only thing keeping me from selling the game is the hope that there is a fix for this nightmare. I would even take BioWare jumping out and saying "Gotcha!"

When it ended I turned off my xbox, gently set down my controller, went into my bedroom and got under the covers and then cried. I honestly felt like there had been a death in the family. My boyfriend thought I was crazy for acting the way i did but I didn't spend five years of my life falling in love with these characters to have it end like this.

Is it so bad to want the "cliche" happy ending for my Shepard?

I threw the controller across the room, first time I've done that in a long time. I understand the feeling though, except I'm pissed more than anything else.

It's good to know I'm not alone feeling like sh*t right now.  The day that I finished ME3, that night I only slept for 3 1/2 hours. It still depresses me knowing that my Shepard will never be reunited with Liara and have a happy life together with their blue kids. :(:crying:

I can't help but wonder if a 4th option was left on the cutting room floor. Seems almost logical to assume the Crucible+Citadel could have been used as a weapon via the mass relays to kill the reapers across the galaxy. Without destroying the relays (Re: that subject, I still don't see why the reapers were not guarding the relays...)

And in place of the god-kid, it should have been Harbinger in some form. Of which you'd have to kill or use in some form to activate the Crucible's powers.

With this many pissed off individuals it should be free. But I have a strange feeling they'll just leave us all in the dark and not do anything.

that ending came so far out of left field, it was just really unnecessary. It's like you go to a comedy club, great comedian, having a good time, and for his last joke he shoots himself in the head. makes no sense.

They are probably very carefully planning/drafting what they are going to say.
I just have this bad feeling that "Evil" christ is going to come in, say deal with it and close this thread.
Also, it makes me sick to see all the big gaming websites saying this game is a masterpiece. Well, it was until the end.

Not that I know of.

They have probably been told not to.  Part of damage control, they don't want anyone saying anything that could turn out to be untrue, that just adds to the fire.

However, if they knew anything about damage control, is that you have to acknowledge the damage in the first place.

Comrades! I am very very disappointed in the endings. For what I was trying to "correctly" pass the Mass Effect 1 and 2? Let one be-done, very, very difficult to obtain, but a happy ending?

Any response will only come next week.

With any luck the cascade of dissastisfcation will swamp all the other language forums and make it even harder for them to ignore.

Has anyone suggested a method of affecting their bottomline to force a response? Someone told me something along the lines that Gamestop was taking back copies of the game?

What I wanted is my FemShep to destroy the reapers, go home and have a bunch of blue children with Liara.

The Mass Relays would still be there.

Civilizations all over would be celebrating after rebuilding.

Synthetic life would still be there. The Geth earned that right with what Legion and helping the very people that tried to destroy them.

Hell, maybe the Krogan and Batarian could be on the council.

Instead I feel like it was a bunch of deus ex machina crap. Destroying all synthetic life and the Mass Relays is stupid. Civilizations are cut off from each other and the joy of space exploration is dead. Synthesis is stupid because what's the point of being this perfect civilization with no flaws? And the controlling option is stupid because as the TC perfectly said, no Shepard, whether renegade or paragon would like to spend close to eternity controlling the Reapers.

There should have been a 4th option providing you did the following:

1) Reputation maxed

2) A very high renegade or paragon bar to fulfill a very high check

3) Krogan truly freed from the Genophage with no Salarian tricks.

4) Ended the war with the Geth and Quarians with peace on both sides.

5) Did a majority of the sidequests

And one of the two:

6) Helped EDI with understanding how to be human and pursue a relationship with Jeff

7) Have a full relationship with someone with ME 1 or 2.

By having done these, you've shown the catalyst the strength of organics. The catalyst would see that perhaps it is wrong and that there must be cycles that are not determined by it but instead by organics. Shepard can then safely destroy all Reapers, is ported down to Earth, and watches as the Reapers pack up and gather towards the Crucible and disintegrate. Various scenes of celebrations are shown, the dead are mourned, former squad mates are remembered, and Shepard holds the hand of his/her lover as the sun sets of a new age (If they died in ME 3, then Shepard holds a frame of them). If no relationship was made, then Jeff and EDI does it.

I just wanted an ending that truly reflected on some of the things we have been building on since the first game. I really, REALLY hope Bioware patches up a new ending because the outrage from this is huge.

Oh and that last scene with the stargazers? Absolutely crap.

I just cant logically see a difference between the endings and just letting the reapers win. Synthesis takes away all species identity and forcibly replaces it with a new one. Kind of like dying in a way because who you were is replaced by someone else. Blowing up or controlling the reapers just leaves so many other problems that I don't even want to get started. Yea hey, i know your planet is utterly destroyed, but good luck rebuilding it with NO TECH.

Ok, now I'm just gonna spam this thread with a question:

How can they fix it? We know the problem. What's the answer?

The last scene with the space child was a fever dream of Shepard and in reality teh crucible simply deactivated the reapers and the next scene we either see Shepard wake up next to Anderson in a hospital bed or we see his funeral on the citadel.

I could actually believe this.  Shepard passed out before they could reach the control panel and regain concisousness outside the crucible in what seems to be open space.

Yeah, me too and this would be a one way to fix the crappy ending(s) for future ME games.

That is what shocks me the most. They did an excellent job with Mass Effect. And Mass Effect 2 is pretty damned good. What friggin' happened is what I'm scratching my head over.

Jesus, ME3 is getting so much praise by critics. I am guessing they have not beaten the game yet.
