I didn't feel sick at the ending, or enraged.. just sort of hollow. All the effort, the hours of play time, the emotional investment, all to basically destroy the galaxy. It didn't hit me until th next morning that that was it, there is no more Mass Effect, no more Shepard and crew, and they chose to end it with pretty lights and a hand wave.

Reminds me of T.S. Eliot's Hollow Men "This is the way the world will end/The world will end/Not with a bang but a whimper".

Poetic. Ash would approve.

Also true.

I just finished the game a few minutes ago, and I have to say that I am very glad that this thread exists.  After all the time I took squezing in sessions between school work, I was really looking forward to the ending.  Unfortantly, I seem to have been royaly screwed.  As repetitive as I seem to be here, what was the point of all that investment into the series and missions if Shepard just gets screwed.  The fact that I am being reptitive here should be something in and of itself.

The Escapist has something about this thread in the first paragraph (the rest of the article deals with Tali's face, so SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS)

In the last year or so, BioWare has shouldered its fair share of criticism. Casting Jessica Chobot as a voice actor and the failures of the leaked Mass Effect 3 endings are just a few signposts of the massive gamer rage leveled at the company from Edmonton about its sci-fi epic.

I don't think this is just a minor thing. I've been by a couple of message boards. Most people seem to dislike the endings. I still don't see why BioWare/EA didn't cover all the bases when it came to these endings. I mean, don't they focus test games this big???

I heard that they did focus test the ending and the people loved it.

If that's true they clearly swapped people with monkeys.

I lol'd

I really don't see how people could have liked it though, at least the majority.

*SPOILERS FOLLOWING*

Yeah, these endings have pretty much ruined the series for me. All the hard decisions we made, all the battles we won, and all the centuries old grudges we helped lay to rest, all of that negated in ten minutes by a synthetic star-child McGuffin.

You thought it was all leading somewhere? You thought you were taking control of your destiny? Ha! Nope. Starchild says you get three choices, and he gets to pick what they are. Sucks to be you. Thinking you had free will all this time. You so crazy.

Also, the synergy ending? (the green choice, so to speak) Yeah, Beast Machines. No, seriously, does anyone else remember the series finale? Leader/Martyr, under the guidance of a shiny McGuffin, nobly sacrifices himself to a Dues Ex in order to unite all organics and synthetics into... Orgaborgs, if you will. Of course, in that show your companions aren't left stranded with no hope of rescue on an unknown planet, so it's not exactly the same. Who even rips off Beast Machines? Everyone knows Beast Wars was better.

And for the love of God, why does the starchild McGuffin look like that kid? Why are we so fixated on the kid throughout the game? WE KNEW HIM FOR FIVE MINUTES. If you wanted to move me you should have made it look like my LI. Now that would have been a mind f***. Where did Catalyst even come from? Was it made by the first race to EVER become technologically advanced? Did it just materialize into existence? Is it god? IS GOD AN AI?

You know what? It's a hallucination. Shepard passed out and is hallucinating while he slowly bleeds to death in front of the Crucible controls. Tragic.

*deep breath* I have a headache. Damn you Bioware.

Kill reapers, save everyone and end the game with your love interest in your Pinnacle Station house. That is all I wanted. I feel crushed.

We need to enlist some Youtube stars and some artists for the cause, even though I know the "cure for Thane" banner didn't do much good..

one thing i do have to say is that I love how people from all walks of life can unite under one ideal... shame it doesn't happen more often, but even with that said glad I'm sure we're doing it for this all the same >.>

The only thing I would change is how Shepard dies, I would have liked for Shepard to have made the decision with the whole crew present, then while Shepards dying or whatever they can say their last goodbyes.

There's no way the Reapers found the appartment, it's probably still intact!

Liara won't get her blue babies. Tali won't have a home. Garrus doesn't get to climb to the top of the presidium again. Ouch Bioware, ouch.

I look at the ending and think that I had a specific playthough where shepard dies/get scewed by his/her decisions.  Now, it turns out that I just get screwed no matter what.  Thanks a lot for that Bioware.

With subs on, I heard Ashley, Mordin, Thane and Legion. Ashley says, Shepard and the comment about saving Kaidan, Mordin says Shepard I can't remember his other comment, I heard Thane say Shepard's name alone, and Legion say Shepard-Commander.

Oh I meant the Catalyst's voice at the end. Not the shades during the dream sequences.

Damn, that pole has more votes then Biowares official polls.

No way they can ignore such overwhelming numbers.
