3rd post on this topic...

When I saw the endings, I was like "Ok, maybe I didn't do enough to get the best ending, despite the 6k+ of military assets and paragonning my ass off...after all, in ME2 you can get some crappier endings as people die (never did experience that myself), so this must just be the imperfect ending."

Well, it wasn't so much of a thought as a desperate hope; no-way could bioware, who had produced such a fantastic series of games, let it die in a whimper like this.

Well, that's when I found this thread...and the rest is history.

I'm seriously hoping with the effect of our mass rejection will get them to do some proper endings for this game. Keep these; even though they don't make sense right now, as the sort of 'not so good, but still somewhat heroic' endings, but include one horrible ending (maybe some new civilization digging up Liara's time capsule/warning box), one 'almost perfect but not quite' ending, maybe having Shepard die in his/her Love Interests's arms (for example, have Shepard telling Tali to go build her home on her homeworld...to keep living for him...provided she survives), and then one perfect ending where it gets as close to perfect as possible; Shepard lives, and life in the Galaxy continues on.

My two cents, anyway.

seriously Bioware, what other game have a 665 pages of one of many topics about ending that suck? After what 4 days after it hit the stores?!

To all you people I send my thanks and hugs for this fight, and hope it will get us somewhere! :)

Sure, every 50,000 years we deal with this horrendous galactic genocide, but at least between that time we get to picture more civilizations develop and spread throughout the galaxy. As far as "hope" goes, we would still be left to ponder whether the next cycle would be able to achieve victory. The pseudo-victory we're left with really makes it seem terribly unlikely that an intergalactic government would ever re-emerge. I think that's one of the most powerful messages that gets people riled up; the idea that the galaxy just became a dreary, dark, and lonely place.

I feel the same way.

Kinda a sad message.

Shepard did the impossible. He was the greatest man who ever lived anywhere... and in the end, even HIS choices were meaningless. :?

ME1's message to players: If you have the will to break the folds of the universe and forge your own path, anything is possible.

ME2's message to players: If you have the will to do the impossible, even imminent death can be avoided, and your purpose will be achieved.

ME3's message to players: No matter what you do, you will never amount to anything but failure.

People are twitter are spamming @GambleMike with basically all the same thoughts from this reply about him reading all of our thoughts:

"That would be wonderful, because the community is almost unanimous in wanting new endings. Just check any major gaming forum."

"Take your time. The game was AMAZING...until the last 15 minutes. You guys dropped the ball. Hard."

"Thanks man - good to know. We're all just hoping for Closure DLC. Thanks for working on such a fantastic game!"

"This is your best game series, I've played every one you have, and this is the best. Please don't end it this way... Change it."

I really hope something will come from all of this outrage. :/

Sad as it is, I know what you feel. I finished ME3 Thursday evening. Since that moment, I've done virtually nothing but read these forums. It's all I can do right now. I can't go back to play ME3, or even ME1 or ME2 for that matter. I put in such an emotional investment and never got an outlet for it in the game, so I really can't enjoy any other video game at the moment. Really, I never thought of myself doing something so.. "nerdy". I never thought I would admit to people that I felt physically worse after finishing a video game, I never thought any game could affect me like this.
And here I am. Finding what solace I can in sharing my experience with so many other people, hoping with all my might that Bioware will come through.

I can't see how Bioware gonna fix this. Problem is not as simply as Fallout's ending. People want closure. I for example, romanced Jack and she was almost side lined in the game. I wondered what happened to her. What we want isn't that simple: we want a epilogue that covers every choice we made, every character we cared. Because that's what promised to us since the begining. No matter whom you're romanced with you see Liara as a flash-back. That is beyond annoying.

It isn't only about bad plot, more about getting a closure and that feeling of content you get after a long journey.

Age shouldn't matter. If something moves you, then it moves you.

Was a super happy ending really going to happen? Probably not, but I think many of us were ready for that.

What happened is that we, as the players, as the people who WERE Shepard, recieved NO closure at all. That was not an ending.

Been doing some data mining, forum lurking, answer searching... I too would pay for DLC with a better ending. The points of contention I have with guardian's argument regarding synthetic life are these:

1. EDI. She was born the rogue VI on Luna. Cerberus comes into possession of her after Shepard's deactivation, and adds reaper tech, thus creating EDI. Through Joker freeing her from her shackles, falling in love, and living life in general, modifies her own code to value all life over self preservation. In the end witnessing what the reapers do to all advanced life past and present finds them repulsive and would rather die than be like them.

2. The Geth. You end a centuries old conflict between them and the Quarians, if you chose the apropriate path, and the Geth gain true individualism in the process. The Geth assist the Quarians in recolonizing parts of Rannoth, and even go so far as to help them build shelters and accelerate the Quarian's re-acclimatization to the environment.

Even in the beginning the Geth did not want to completely destroy their creators, they only ever fought for self-preservation, and even saved the memories of the Quarians that sacaficed themselvs for the Geth. Those are not the actions of a race, synthetic or otherwise, that is bent on the destruction of their creators. It's not until Reaper influence that the Geth become openly hostile towards organic life.

Anyways I just wanted to state these facts, and have probably restated them, but I have far too much invested into this series time wise and emotionally to accept the endings as they stand.

Having said all that, I don't know how much hope there is for a change, or addition to the current endings as they stand. As I stated above, I did some data mining, and what I found didn't leave much hope IMO.

I agree with you. Frankly, I believe this should have been the key to a happy ending. You make peace with the Geth and Quarians, you teach EDI the values of duty, altruism and love and you're able to convince the guardian to give you another choice. Just like teaching Javik that all organic life can work together without the need for one race dominating, you can prove that synthetics and organics can live in peace as well.

I don't think we should have to pay for a good ending after all the money we've gladly given to Bioware over the years...
but i'd gladly do it.
