Mass Effect deserves an ending like Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi, where there are many fireworks and celebrations across the galaxy. People dancing in joy from being freed from the cycle, Shepard's crew has that drink in that bar from Rio (if anyone had saved Jacob, he'll mention it), medals, apologies, etc. The ending should be like a better way to deactivate the Reapers (like finding their creator's command codes) without blowing up the mass relays. I like interstellar travel, not being reverted to the stone age like Battlestar Galactica (recall the end of the re-imaged series).

Don't know if it's been posted already but we are doing something right. Lets keep it up (in a civilised way of course).

Just thought I would outline what I actually want from the ending, to do something sort of constructive (maybe that'll make me feel better?):

1. A fix to the plotholes.
2. Different endings where previous choices matter.
3. The possibility to obtain a happy ending (it can be very hard, that's fine.) A few other ones would be nice as well.
4. A meaningful epilogue, rather than one that makes the entire trilogy seem like an old man's fairy tale.

I loved the game. I loved the entire trilogy. I loved the characters. I hated the ending. I've never cared like this about a piece of fiction, or the characters in it before. Mass Effect deserves better, Shepard deserves better, we deserve better. Please don't let it end like this Bioware! I'll just go to this corner and be sad/confused now...

I'm really offended that anyone is trying to spin dissatisfaction with the ending as simple Bioware hate or homophobia. As far as I'm concerned, one of the things they did right was to make the game inclusive. Though my question would be, if a gay MShep could romance Kaiden, who was not romanceable in ME1, how come a lesbian FShep can't romance Tali? The list of options for FShep, gay or straight, is much shorter than MShep. And as a female gamer, that kind of pisses me off.

Apart from the endings. Which are still unsatisfactory.

the biggest problem is not the endings themselves (which i dont dislike), but the total lack of an epilogue to explain what happened after the final choice.they all seem exactly the same, except the color of the beam. i wanted to see the galaxy celebrate, and to see squadmates/main characters reaction to that choice good or bad. and i wanted to know what their fate was. i felt like i was left with lots of loose ends, not exactly closure for a trilogy which i love

I completely agree with you. It has been a few days now since I have beaten the game and it's STILL bothering me. I don't understand why I care so much but I just do and the weight of it all is making me sick.
