Alright, after a good nights sleep I woke up this morning and realized what is bugging me so much and what I'm fighting for here.

It isn't just that the ending was bad, it's also how destructive it was.  In game it was destructive, yes, but I'm talking about real life.

Many of us have expressed how anxious we were to import/play one of our other characters or start on insane mode, or NG+.  Right up until the very end we were thinking this, wanted this and were looking forward to it.  Then we saw the ending.  And everything changed.

The ending didn't just ruin the game, it ruined the entire series.  And that is what has me upset.  I want to love this game, I want to play again.  I want back all the love and passion I felt for this series that had me playing it over and over.

And it seems all of that could be possible, if we just receive a better/different ending.

So that's what having a different ending means to me.  It would give back what I lost.  The slogan for the game was "Take Earth Back", so I'm asking Bioware, "Take the fan Back".  I want you to do that, I ask you to do that, I beg you to do that.  It would mean so much, to many of us.

Once again, I fully agree.
Maybe this kind of stuff may lead things to change even if I have serious doubts about it:

So if I got the endings right, almost everyone dies, and earth is destroyed? or???

Wouldn't destroying the Mass Relays destroy all life? I mean when you blow up the one in the baterian system it kills thousands so wouldn't all the relays blowing up just kill everything?

Pretty much. Destroying the Mass Relays would be like removing Warp Drive from Star Trek, everyone is screwed without it. So many people would die without them, any colony that isn't self-sufficient would die out, so many ships stranded until the crew dies, its pretty bleak. Technically, Earth isn't destroyed in all the endings, but it might as well be.

Honestly, I think this would have been a better ending:

You now what? I think that a free DLC with addition of real choices on endings and with the possibility to at, least, have a new happy one will make Bioware stronger:
- it will provide them with fan/buyers gratitude
- it will give them "free" advertising
- it will provide them with a positive feedback as they will proove they listen to their customers and not only money (expecially after DAII failure).
Before DAII and ME 3, I bought Bioware game without even knowing the subject it deals with, just because Bioware was a sufficient warranty that the game will be good. But now...
So, please, Biowre, listen to us: it is not possible to image that after 6 years making our shepards, driving him/her to the end, you let us orphans in front of such a finish.

I have no idea what that's from but it sounds like propaganda. This is in response to FridgeRaider.

but every option causes them to blow up so no matter what the galaxy dies so why not let the Reapers have some fun? Besides you could go into cryo and live for the next cycle.

We should expect news Tuesday (if not monday).  After a big project like this many devs give their employees time off before beginning on their next project.  Come Monday I expect many of the employees will be returning to word to find... all of this.

At least they were consistent - the game sucked and so did the ending. Not like the curveball Bioware decided to throw us here.

I don't want a "brighter" ending. It's just the style of a bad anime movie to place a god-alike existence somwhere behind a portal who let you choose to rescue the entire galaxy by "space magic" i mean, wtf. This entire universe is so intense and captable of telling a great story but Shepard just meet ****ing "SPACE GOD" and there's no explanation. Instead of this you may pick a color.

Ok guys, another German Infantry Regiment joining.

I followed all this and it spoiled a lot for me. I religiously avoided spoilers like crazy and then a friend of mine told me about the endings... and his reaction was shocking... so I started looking at stuff. because the last think I wanted was to put my Shepard through something like that.
So yeah, now I know about the endings, which I totally hate and I'm glad my Sheppard hasn't lived through them yet. But I also hate that Bioware screwed this up so much that I was forced to inform myself and spoil quite a few story detailed that were not about the ending when reading through this.

Now I DO own the N7 edition already, it was too late to cancel the order. And I kinda want to at least play up until the ending before reading more here so I can at least protect myself against more spoilers... the question is now... how far should I play... I was already concerned that future DLCs might force me to replay since they cannot be played after game completion... and now there's this ending crap on top of that.

So what do you guys recommend... how far should to get the most information about the story to protect myself against further spoilers and yet also not already run beyond the point of no return?

Honestly, after reading several hundred posts over the last few days I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with the need for better endings. I don't care what anyone says I will gladly pay for the "Disney" ending. I want an ending where the reapers go bye-bye, everyone (everyone important to Shep.) makes it out alive, and galactic civilization has new hope for a better future. I want a "Luke just blew up the death star" type ending where the council is giving Shepard a medal and everyone from the Normandy crew is there. BW needs to step up, admit they made a mistake, and give the fans their moneys worth.

I think the indoctrination theory is correct. If harbinger managed to get Shepard indoctrinated then it knew they won the war. I think the whole ending sequence is a fight between Shepard and the indoctrination process.

So i guess shepard destroyed the reapers from within when he got beamed up. Be at peace shepard. You earned it.... Image IPB. All good things must end...

Lemme get this straight...

Game hammers the theme of "Control is wrong. Freedom is good. Fight for freedom, self determination, and your friends!"
Tuchanka - Genophage is control. Control is wrong.
TIM - Control of people (and Reapers) is wrong and dangerous,
Geth - Need I say it... again?
Miranda's Father - Control is wrong.

And the penultimate example - Reapers are a system of control. An artificial means to produce someone's idea of "Order" as a supreme value. And no matter what, we're forced to accept their logic, submit to their presuppositions, and make a choice in congruence with their perspective.

Damn right I chose destroy. Sorry Geth and EDI, it's the only (terrible) option I had to be consistent with the theme of the game, and of ME in general. What a miscarriage of storytelling...

I'll also add, that the "hero's sacrifice" does not have to mean death. See Frodo, LOTR - another apocalyptic, against all odds, fight for your friends, life, and all that is good story.

I want my Frodo ending. {edit} or any real ending that respects the actual themes of the saga.

Never posted here before, have lurked for years. Adding my voice now.

Exactly.  Sure this all takes place in space with aliens and technology we can't even fathom.  But it all felt somewhat plausible at least.  Until the Catalyst.  We should defeat the reapers by martial means, not space magic.
