The standard Bioware formula....which they need to break. Which they are doing and the fans whining.

I don't understand the logic here...

It's almost like getting mad at a car company for making cars that consistantly work....

GOD DAMNIT HONDA WHY WONT MY CAR FREAKING DIE!!!!

That's what it sounds like you are saying.

so lets tell the same story over and over again using all the same cliches....I am pretty sure that would be criticized....oh wait it has.

You have to grow and take risks....oh wait American car companies kept making the same old cars which worked int he past, guess what? They had to be bailed out. You have to grow and change.

They were bailed out, then they started making cars like everyone else, practical, affordable, reliable, with good fuel economy, which are all pretty much "cliche" since everyone is doing it...oh wait, it works.

Oh and GM went oldschool and revived an old classic (Camaro) which helped bring them back to their former glory.

Well hey, us gays (or non heteros more so in my case) got what we wanted. I'm alright with any ending, just as long as my manShep can get with a dude. My main, a femShep, won't have a love interest, so it's all good. (In the true feminist style. -nod-)

im happy for you and the gay community for getting gay relationships in the game but if all you care about is the relationship then why are you even here? This is a discussion about the ending and Shepard's final battle with the Reapers. The love interest and/or Shepard are gonna die anyway

Hey, I'm excited that my male Shepard gets to romance a guy too.  Too bad the relationship will only last for the duration of the game and then they'll never see each other again.  If anything, we should be even angrier than most people for having our LI snatched away at the end.

Thats what im saying, if Shep or the LI is dieing anyway, whats the point?

Because there are similrities in argument. allowing the lgbt community to have a game they can relate to makes sense. Same can be said for the folks who want a decent ending for their shep character. All we want is the choice to have the story play out in a way that we feel some sort of gratification, be it in a romance or in a climactic ending.

But if you try, sometimes you get what you need. In theory.

And what you want isn't always what you need, and you get what you need even if it's not what you want...

How are we for trite phrases?  I have a few more if we need them.  :D

i'll wait and see till the game comes out. too many spoilers floating around already. i will say that alot of people who played this game worked hard to get the best possible outcome. sometimes, its nice to get a happy ending...even if it's not necessarily the "end". i never assumed we would destroy the reapers once and for all, but rather fend them off until they retreat to reinforce and strike again years later.

I've been trying to get one of my sisters into Mass Effect. Even bought her ME1 and ME2 and have been hounding her to play them. This weekend I had just finished using FRAPS to make a montage movie of some of my favorite moments in ME1 and ME2 to try and convey some of the enjoyment and wonder of the series.

If the "best" ending you can get in ME3 is a stab in the back and urinated on though, then I'll just tell her to forget it and find anything else to do with her time. And sure I was a bit hyperbolic there, but those endings are just unacceptable and I can't view them as anything but deliberate, petty, and spiteful.

I went from agonized anticipation to just plain agonized. I'll still get my CE of ME3, but it feels more like stubborn denial than anything else at this point. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything and am not interested in debating whatever about this. I saw the Sword and Hammer thread last night and the need to just vent a bit has been building up since then.

I was about to try to get my girlfriend in on it too, and she seemed interested. Not gonna try anymore, same as you.

But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you play, you would always win, always win
But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cry
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

Hilariously enough, if these endings turn out to be a complete hoax Bioware just got schooled in 'How to ****** Your Fanbase Off' 101. Hope they're taking notes.

No offense, but LI's aren't the only thing people play this game for. I didn't invest all this time into ME1 and 2 in order to run into a stone wall at the very end where every single one of the characters we've come to know and love inevitably gets husked or dies, and the civilization we've been fighting to preserve is thoroughly destroyed in a manner of your choosing. It makes all of your actions up to that point effectively meaningless.

I don't have to pay sixty bucks to expose myself to something depressing. I can just turn on the news.

2 of Bioware's goals:
1- Make Money
2- Create a story that brings out the emotions of it's players
So if you buy the game and you are angry or pleased with any of the endings, guess what...
Mission Accomplished.
