So we can't get the ending we want after all?

Just had to post this. I read this a few days before the release of the game and it made me excited. Now I read it and just laugh.

Because he/she wasn't a legend already? EVERYBODY in the galaxy knows CMDR Shepard, that's like, the definition of a legend..

All the work we did over three games, all the people we helped, all the people we killed, just to destroy galactic civilization slightly less completely than if we had done nothing at all. I have never played a video game where the protagonist fails so utterly at what they were trying to achieve.
I don't even want an alternate ending anymore. What I want is when Liara is talking about flying away to our own corner of space to take her up on it. The galaxy can die without me.

Also
I have a few questions...
When I confronted TIM for some reason I could not chose the paragon option. I completed every quest that I am aware of and chose all paragon options. Why wasn't I able to convince TIM to kill himself? I was forced to do a renegade interrupt to save myself. Anderson died though. What happens if you save Anderson?

Also I had Tali with me on the Final mission where Hammer got destroyed by the reaper. They said everyone died. How the hell did Tali live and get onto the Normandy? Why was the Normandy in the middle of a jump anyway?
http://filesmelt.com/dl/tali5.png
Even if Tali did survive she wouldn't leave me to die. Tali loved me. She would never abandon me like that. WTF?
Tali wanted more time with me. Why Bioware did you have to separate us and destroy the Mass Relays on top of that? And damn it I didnt work so hard to save the Geth just to be forced to destroy them.
Bioware,
=(
P.S. All I can say is this betterr be a joke. I want a free DLC with the fix.

I'm right there with you. Memorable for all the wrong reasons, indeed.Pabloskie wrote...
I remember about a week ago, Bioware devs were on record saying that the choices in ME3 would be memorable. They were absoluty right. They are memorable, but for all the wrong reasons: I dont think I will ever forget how awful I felt at the end of this game.

It's such a Cpt. Obvious moment too. Oh, you mean the guy who singlehandedly saved galactic civilization from Saren one year, then again 2 years later from the Collectors, then cured the genophage, then ended the Geth/Quarian war with peace between both sides is a "legend"?
I'd prefer, I don't know, a statue or two. Anything is better than being the center of some incomplete story that crazy gramps tells little children.

That's how I feel, too. Listen to this. Don't worry, it's not a Rick Roll, I promise:

Exactly. I ended up with enough RL problems because of couple of massive events that happened in the space of a year in my twenties, that I know reality's not always happy. I had no issue with the game endings in 1 or 2.. 3 just hurt.Ikikata wrote...

(There is a TLDR section at the bottom of it!)
I stopped reading after this:
But in light of this I offer you all, the frustrated players, a proposition. What if, just maybe, Bioware wanted to teach players a philosophical lesson that sometimes life is not fair, that sometimes we all experience a dues ex machina in our lives. What if, just maybe, the writers are trying to tell us that even the most deserving sacrifice may come up flat, that sometimes deserving men and women just do not get what we think they deserve.
If BW is trying to preach to me, it's garbage. I don't play video games for moral and philisophical lessons. I play them to get away from the crappiness of the real world. I play them for entertainment. If I wanted philosophy, I would read Socrates.
Seconded. Games for me is to get away from the real life, especially Mass Effect, where I am Commander Shepard, so of course I want to live happily ever after, so I can get closure.
Even if my Shep ended up in a wheelchair, or something.. I could've dealt with that.
Heck, if done right I'd have loved an ending where Shepard lived happy but maybe lost a leg or something. Because that is a leap of faith doing that, and for me that is really bold, and works for me. As long as Shepard lives happily on.
This is the reason why I loved How To Train Your Dragon.
Though I do think I'd still prefer a 100% perfect ending for my Shepard, he deserves it
Our Shepards have been through hell and back.. with Garrus having our back the entire way. A happy ending, even somewhat sad given hard choices (if you chose to destroy EDI and the geth along with the effing reapers) would've been cartharsis.

I had the same problem. Only in my second playthrough, though (another ME2 import, not ME3 redo).
I played through one more time because I felt that I wasn't done with the game, but, yeah, it's the end that makes me feel all bittersad inside.

definately disagree with anybody who wishes a happier ending. yes, the endings are dark, perhaps too dark but the main problem with these are not them being dark, it's them being too dumb. would you be satisfied if they had the same ending by somehow getting shepard to normandy crashing and letting him live happily ever after ? that's not what i want. i demand a logical, fitting conclusion. it could be much darker than this, i'd still be happy with that. just give the fitting conclusion this series deserves.
I would be happier because it was coherent with my Shepard's story. We definitely could have the choice. Sacrifice or not. Happy (nuanced of course, it's war after all) end or not. Dark end or not.

Yeah well.. Maybe they knew and planned for the reactions, and will throw a well-placed DLC that will save the day.. The EA overlords are pretty good at designing ways to make more money..

You can survive the vacuum of space in a dream.
The ending is an interaction with Harbinger as you lay on the ground. The fade to black was the end.. to be continued. The choices do matter, but relate them to it being Harbinger in your head:whistle:.
