Not a good idea to burn a fan base. It will make people wait instead of pre-ordering or it can drive fans away in droves. Both of these = NO money = mad share holders = someone getting fired.

A lot of Bioware employees get the boot. Three years later, the studio gets the Pandemic treatment.
