It's like reading Lord Of The Rings but at the end of the journey Smeagol kills Frodo and walks away with the ring.

Close, but not quite. It is like reading LOTR, but at the end, Gollum bites the finger with the ring off of Frodo, Frodo then proceeds to eat Gollum whole to take back the ring. The ring then speaks to Frodo from his small intestine, telling Frodo that the ring actually created and controls Sauron, and Sauron is his way of making sure that the peoples of Middle Earth don't get too smart for their own good. Frodo can then choose to regurgitate the ring and become one with it to control Sauron, destory the ring and with it any hope of peace, or digest the ring and magically unite the forces of good and evil into one mystic whole. Frodo chooses to destroy the ring, flinging himself off the cliff into the fires of Mount Doom. While Frodo is falling to his doom, the story cuts to Sam, Gandalf, and Aragorn are suddenly getting off a boat on the shores of Valinor. Crazy things happen to the armies gathered to battle that make no sense.

Then, the last sentence in the book reads .. "on the cold, hard rock of Cirith Ungol, the broken body of a hobbit lies naked, apparently dead. As Orcs gather round, there is a sharp gasp of breath..."

As he drops the pen for the final time, Tolkein reflects with a wide grin on his face, "Boy, the readers will love this. I successfully avoided a lame "normal" ending where anyone ends up happy, and instead gave them a much more mature, hipster intellectual finale. And for the few who think it's too grim, I'm sure the fact that Frodo intakes oxygen briefly while in a dire situation will provide all the closure they could possibly want. Yeah, I did good."

I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed that people who think the ending was great and that we are the minority keep using the reference that 890,000 were sold in the first 24 hours and that 3.5 million are being shipped around the world?

What I would like to know is how many of the people who bought it in those figures have actually finished the game? Without knowing that those numbers are moot. Of course it's going to sell good in the beginning, the first two were great.  It's ridiculous to use that 'they're selling good' somehow proves us wrong.

Please tell me this pisses someone else off too.

First off, yes it upsets me and second........hell, I, as well as many of us, contributed to that number!!!   I'm a CE pre-order since announcement ...... damn that hurts.

Am I the only one who sees the irony?
Bioware united Xbox, PS3, and PC players so that they can, collectively, hate Bioware. I seem to remember a game that required uniting different groups to fight one common enemy...I think it was called something like Mass Effect 3

Right down to the fact that the fans have commandeered ME3's own terminology and marketing taglines to use against them.

How appropriately true!!!

Its pretty funny I must admit, I really want to know what Bioware was thinking. For all we know this is a ploy of some kind, though I can't imagine why they'd do it this way...maybe to sell more DLC? It just seems like a bad way to boost sales for the DLC.

So I will take the lack of communication between us as a sign to part ways for good.

I want to ask you one more question Bioware.

When we were young and we got intimate, afterwards you told me you needed time and were not ready.
Then when we slightly hung out, when I had my "Osama Beard",you told me again that you were not ready for a bf etc.(Understandable)
And now for a 3rd time,When we started something, you tell me once again you do not have time for me etc.

Do you just not want me to be a part of your life? Do I just not satisfy your needs? Are we just not meant to be together? Friends or otherwise?

What happen? What is it? What are you scared of? What did I do to you? I just don't understand why things couldn't have been calm simple and open between us. No need for this. I'm Sorry.

What is truly amazing/sad is how many people are really pushing and hoping for an "it was all a dream" ending, which is one of the biggest literary cop-outs there is, and that I'm actually in support of it as a potential remedy.

This was by far the best game of the series. I've had immense enjoyment encountering old friends, experiencing a more dynamic and exciting combat system, and a world of unparalleled majesty and drama. And then there is this ending - many aspects of which I like, but which simply doesn't satisfy overall, thanks to the lack of conclusion. Has anyone tried a non-perfect ending? My galaxy was pretty well prepared, and would be interested to find out what a non-ideal ending would be.

Well, here is the difference. An "it was all a dream" ending would mean the full series was just a fevered dream of Shepard. What WE are pushing for is that the last five minutes of the game (after Shepard gets knocked out by the Reaper laser) is a dream, and Shepard wakes up after that to finish her mission. And then have blue babies with Liara. And try not to stare at EDI's inexplicable cameltoe.

I hate these endings as much as anybody but I feel like I am sitting better with them now because I have joined the indoctrination/hallucination theory. In the beginning of the game the kid is standing right in front of a shuttle with a reaper coming. He is like 2 feet from a evac soldiers leg, which leads me to believe NO ONE but shepherd could see him. Also, he is making like direct eye contact with shepherd. And he even helps himself up in the evac shuttle. I have a hard time believing that if he was visible, all of those people in the shuttle would let a little boy struggle by himself. And he is always making direct eye contact with shepherd. Its kind of creepy..

And I might be completely crazy for believing this stuff, but I played through a 2nd time and noticed A LOT of things that pointed towards that theory.

So long story short guys, the endings right now suck. But I'm holding out hope cause I drank the crazy kool aid :)

After reading some more and thinking about it i have come to the same conclusion.
Damn, it actually gives me smoe peace and helps to cope with the ending that i saw in the game.
And hope for a real and better ending.

Got to hand it to you.

I don't even understand how the staff could possibly come up with endings like these.

I know- I am of the opinion that the 'it was all a dream' (or variations thereof) ending should never be used under any circumtances however it actually seems like a really good idea for the lat few minutes - the ending (as well as being terrible) just feels surreal!

quick queston if you do play a NG+ do you get to keep any of your war assets?

I cna't even figure out how to get to NG+ =.= There is no option for it. And if I try to start a new game, it won't let me import my ME3 character. WTF?

...  Uh, can anyone confirm that, and also, what platform?  I was reasonably sure that people have already started on NG+, if not completed.

Platform for me is the PC and 1 more how realistic is to try and ge 5000 war assets without playing the MP

I got over 5K war assets fairly easy. Make sure you explore every system and scan, Cure the Genophage, Make peace for the Geth and Quarians, Citadel assignments, etc.

We dont hope that the whole game was a dream, just the last few minutes of the game, you know, the part that ruined the whole game (or maybe even the series) right in the end, after one of the most amazing games i have ever played.

I'm so incredibly disappointed with the ending. I won't say "endingS", because really, the differences are not worth noting.
One game ending actually ruined not just this game, but the entire series.

Nothing Shepard did, not just in ME3, but in all 3 games, mattered one whit.

Not one choice provides an ending with even a little bit of happy or hope. Whole societies ending up in the wrong place due to no relays, probably all going to die, your crew stranded somewhere, you die no matter what.
And then some guy and some kid show up and it was all a story and somewhere in the future people apparently survived somehow. Nothing that needed explaining is explained, etc etc.

This is a game where I made choices and up until the last 15 minutes or so, they mattered. I would have liked more ending options, or real options instead of 3 near-copy/pastes. Knowing I have no real control over anything and that we probably won't be able to save anything, and that I can do a million things and prepare for all I'm worth and it doesn't change a thing in the end, I have meatspace for that. I'd like my favourite game series at this moment to leave me feeling happy, or content, or at least just sad and/or ambivalent about the outcome, instead of only drained.

Not touching this series again, not unless they make some truly spectacular changes or DLC so we can have satisfactory endingS.

Agreed... I'm wiped now.. it's depressing, you'd think someone would have taken the whole paragon speech and realized "Hey maybe we shouldn't be doing the same thing to the player that citadel kid wants to do to the galaxy" hahaha.
