So we can't get the ending we want after all?

I'm hurt and betrayed and I can't believe BioWare would do this to loyal fans. ME3 was probably one of the best games I've ever played. I was emotionally invested - I felt hurt, anger, joy, sorrow and a game has never quite touched me in such a way. Now, to find out every damn choice, every sacrifice meant *nothing* because we were all doomed to end up at point Z anyway hurts more than it should. And it's a betrayal I'm not sure I can forgive.

Another one of "the worsts parts" are that if the hallucination stuff was planned, and they explained it where we currently have holes, this would become the best ending ever, instantly. We'd all have egg on our face.Elmogaming wrote...
Well... I think that the ending(s) were a let down i was excited about being back on earth and figting for what my sheapard belived in but... as soon as i ran towards the beam i knew it was going to start going downhill.. but it dosent seem right.. the ending must be some sort of dream/Hullusination.. the oily border of the screen (same as sheapards dreams) the Humming sounds that The indoctrination proccess uses (James Talks of it). The illusive man? obviously he's indoctrinated But there is more to it... The illusive man isnt A "reaper" but he makes sheapard do things (like shoot anderson). I think Harbinger hit's sheapard with the laser and knocks him out... and then on it's a dream/hullusination.. the boy.. is used against sheapard as a weakness because he regrets not helping.. The reapers may be aware of it..
Heck i hope bioware have something BIG planned because i was most upset with the ending.. making me question if bioware dont care
Here's to all quarian Squadrons.. Sheapard cant die.
It could have been, **** I would have gone with that, depending on your choice you wake up and kick some ass, or your indoctrinated and "Game Over" that could be amazing.
But why not release that at the start? Why give us this instead? Even temporarily...
1. Save everyone from spoilers
or
2. money
or
3. April 1st is coming soon
or
4. Show the player a true instance of indoctrination... perhaps...
Any of them likely? Eh, we'll see.
Hope it's worth it... This is risky if there pulling A "Prank" of somesort... i mean i Just GOT INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH TALI! "Facepalm"

Upon completing the game, a reaper flies directly at the screen, flipping you off with one hand, $60 in the other, and it makes a fart noise when it hits the screen. Cut directly to your crew, with Shepard, on a rebuilt Earth, with a working Mass Relay visible in the sky, all holding a giant "April Fools!" sign.

This group is for those attending PAX East who wish to stand with me when the ME panel is held, provided our questions are not answered by then, or if they do not decide to change the ending. Supporters who will not be attending and/or will not be able to attend are welcome as well.
It's time to gather the troops, and get organized.

Jessica Merizan posted in a "commiserating" group formed on the BSN that she's going to do a live stream / Q&A. The biggest problems I have with her reply and what she's said thus far are as follows:
I do NOT want to "interpret" this ending any more than I want to interpret the ending of Battlestar Galactica. BSG had a terrible ending, but it didn't ruin the first couple of seasons for me because I had no hand in crafting that story. I had a huge part in crafting this story of my Shepard. He was meticulous, and made sure he looked at every angle, and pursued the right thing to do regardless of the cost it took on himself.
...
This finale was terrible storytelling because it turned ME3 from an internally consistent universe with rules and ways things are supposed to behave into a magic anything-can-happy "a wizard did it" universe. What's worse is we were promised something entirely different. We were told there was a plan from the beginning and hey, it turns out there wasn't any plan - at least none that the wriers for ME3 stuck to.
I hope Jessica brought some better armor for her Q&A. Her position, in my honest opinion, is indefensible.
The idea of getting a panel to 'interprete' the ending for us is ridiculious.
We, the audience, are not obliged to interprete a story. That Bioware is happy with their 'artistically complex' ending shows that they are either deluded (or indoctrinated by the reapers), or in denial. Interpretation is meant to add depth to a base story, not cover up for a breach in the reader-writer contract. Even in recent filmography -- complex, postmodern narratives like Inception and babel -- did not require a 'panel' to 'interprete' the ending.
At the same time, I feel that the writers are not entirely to blame.
If you look at Anderson's uncut last dialogue with Shepard (Here's a version of the uncut dialogue: http://vulpesetuva.t...nough-one-thing ) you can actually see a considerable about of depth. It is actually good writing: we see a little bit of Anderson's past, we see him thinking of his family, we get a sense of what drives him. He becomes more of a real character to us. This rubs off on Shepard's character: we see him/her thinking about settling down and starting a family. This in turn resonates with us, the players; because it is what we want for our shepards too. That fact that s/he is bleeding out adds gravity and emotional weight to their sacrifice; because it's pretty clear that they aren't going to make it.
Femshep's VA is absolutely astounding at bringing the wounded shepard to life; quite a nice change from her usual persona.
That all these made it to the VAs show that the script was somewhat in its advanced stages. What makes me wonder is why a perfectly good portion was cut, even after recording. It couldn't be because it was out of place, beacuse it was the perfect place to take that moment to reflect. In fact, if the game ended with that uncut dialogue and shepard dies after anderson from blood loss, I'd call it a fitting ending. An ending monologue by someone close to Shepard; perhaps Liara, would provide closure.
My instincts tell me that the production team might not have been able to push everything out on time, leading to snippets. Either that, or they ran out of disc space (lol), time, resources. This explains the sudden drop in narrative quality right after the Anderson section.
In the video game world, the writer has to fight for his artistic vision. How good the writing in boils down partially to how much clout the writer has in championing his/her work, because it's usually going to be contested by everyone else trying to cut corners. It seems to me that Mac Walters has very little of this clout.

Cortez survived on my first play thorugh, and I had no where near a perfect score. No one died on mine besides mordin and thane. So I'm not really sure if the score affects that?

Why didn't Shepard just go to Ilos to get on the citadel if he needed to get into the Citadel so badly? It's a backdoor onto the Citadel....

I don't know, he's been increidbly ballsy with his Twitter postings lately and hasn't even acknowledged that there's fan discontent. At least Jessica and Gamble have.

It's interesting but this really has become a movement now. Look at the poll results, the amount of people here on the forums combined with the Facebook/Twitter pages - it's about time BioWare fixes this problem and restores the trust we had in them.

I don't know. I got my galactic readiness up to 100% and got my WA up to over 6k. And then I ran into him once on the Citadel by the memorial wall in the holding area and was supportive. Then I came here and tried this stuff again... And he survived. On my frist play through of this area, he died.
Helping him get past his husband probably helps, because he doesn't want to die anymore. I went through everything with him (as I do with all my crew), except of course at the bar I made it clear I was interested in the dancers on the stage, not what he considered eye-candy on the dance floor
My readiness was 88%, and I had over 6.5k war assets in total, less of course because the readiness wasn't max, but still over 6k.

quick queston if you do play a NG+ do you get to keep any of your war assets?
I cna't even figure out how to get to NG+ =.= There is no option for it. And if I try to start a new game, it won't let me import my ME3 character. WTF?
... Uh, can anyone confirm that, and also, what platform? I was reasonably sure that people have already started on NG+, if not completed.
Platform for me is the PC and 1 more how realistic is to try and ge 5000 war assets without playing the MP
I got over 5K war assets fairly easy. Make sure you explore every system and scan, Cure the Genophage, Make peace for the Geth and Quarians, Citadel assignments, etc.
I cured the genophage, did every mission, made peace with the Geth and Quarians and only got slightly more then 3000.. I needed to do the MP to up it.
So you got > 10,000 in total war assets??? I call BS

I guess it's just-- I really felt like a hero playing Commander Shepard over the years. Saving lives, getting races who'd warred for centuries to form alliances. Then the ending came and... I didn't feel like a hero. I felt like everything I'd done, and all the sacrifices of my friends and crew members basically amounted to nothing.
I'm fine with tough choices and bittersweet endings. I was expecting an option for Shepard to die saving others and have no problem at all with that concept. But to die dooming the entire known galaxy to... who knows what? Without the relays, and with most of the populated worlds decimated by the reapers, all the beings you've come to know, who you've tried to protect for all this time... well,it seems like they're just screwed.
I'm sure the endings that were chosen are quite deep and meaningful in ways my selfish brain has no hope of comprehending. But one shot of Kaiden helping to rebuild a home, or Wrex with his newborn Krogan son or daughter would have been worth ten times more to me than that Normandy jungle bit.

It wouldn't send Shepard to the right part of the citadel to do what s/he needs to do?
Reapers fixed that particular loophole?
Take Illos back doesn't sound as powerful?

In ME2 the Council says that Vigil is no longer functional, but that doesn't mean the Conduit isn't. The existance of the Conduit's Citadel terminus is acknowledged by Groundskeeper Willie when he suggests that Shepard look at the purdy flowers growing around it. However, I think it's a safe assumption that it's offline, and that the four geth Colossi that were guarding it in ME1 were also helping to power the thing.
