Lots of people are showing up. On Tuesday barely anyone was talking about it, now the poll is increasing by thousands per day; it's amazing.

In the video game world, the writer has to fight for his artistic vision.  How good the writing in boils down partially to how much clout the writer has in championing his/her work, because it's usually going to be contested by everyone else trying to cut corners.  It seems to me that Mac Walters has very little of this clout.

I don't know, he's been increidbly ballsy with his Twitter postings lately and hasn't even acknowledged that there's fan discontent. At least Jessica and Gamble have.

He might have been indoctrinated by the bioware equivilant of TIM (ahem) and had his artistic vision compromised. I feel almost as if the Anderson scene was the 'real ending' and the space wizard part was tacked on at the last moment because someone played Deus Ex and found the ending really cool.  I wonder just who that person might be.

quick queston if you do play a NG+ do you get to keep any of your war assets?

I cna't even figure out how to get to NG+ =.= There is no option for it. And if I try to start a new game, it won't let me import my ME3 character. WTF?

...  Uh, can anyone confirm that, and also, what platform?  I was reasonably sure that people have already started on NG+, if not completed.

Platform for me is the PC and 1 more how realistic is to try and ge 5000 war assets without playing the MP

I got over 5K war assets fairly easy. Make sure you explore every system and scan, Cure the Genophage, Make peace for the Geth and Quarians, Citadel assignments, etc.

I cured the genophage, did every mission, made peace with the Geth and Quarians and only got slightly more then 3000.. I needed to do the MP to up it.

So you got > 10,000 in total war assets???  I call BS

it's not hard.. I got every war asset I could find.  I only had 50% readiness but OXM already said you didn't need any readiness so long as you got at least a full green bar..   So long as you get to the 3rd option on the citadel without dying on the way you had enough assets to complete the game.

My buddy just asked a question that was sort of a revelation to me now as well.

Why didn't Shepard just go to Ilos to get on the citadel if he needed to get into the Citadel so badly? It's a backdoor onto the Citadel....

It wouldn't send Shepard to the right part of the citadel to do what s/he needs to do?
Reapers fixed that particular loophole?
Take Illos back doesn't sound as powerful?

Was just a fun bit of speculation, it didn't really bother me.

Same here, Dj14365. I had several Shepards, ManSheps and FemSheps, romanced all the characters I could, and played both as a Paragon and Renegade just so I could see how it would affect the ending. I guess that by giving us a universal and disappointing ending, Bioware has saved me the time of playing the game several times over again. Whoo. Hasn't saved me the money I paid for the Collector's Edition, though... I think I'll just hold onto the idea that I paid that money for all of ME3 sans everything that happened after Harbinger knocked Shep out. Before that moment, it was a masterpiece.

*snip*  I still can't get this off my mind. 4 days and I still have not touched a video game. It isn't a Mass Effect thing at this point. I am so soured by the experience that I don't want to touch ANYTHING in my library.*snip*

*snip* And yes, I'm a little worried about myself when something so seemingly trivial as a video game trilogy can affect me like this. A lot of us seem to be wrestling with similar conflicting desires, never mind the sheer unprecedented scale of this movement so close after launch. *snip*

I agree with these points so much.  I do not consider myself a drama queen nor do I often vocalize myself, just ask any of my r/l friends, but I've been moved and I'm not so sure it's in a good way.   I have a lot coming up in the next few weeks, a kitchen rebuild I've been working on for a few months, a career changing interview that will result in relocating my family, and yet I've sat here on these forums for the past few days.  Unable to work on anything, unable to bring myself to care about anything.  It's crazy.   Defies all logic.   Just like the ending to ME.

just because Ending...bioware doesn't realize that on Amazon, the rating of Mass Effect 3 is now near two stars out of five .... the possibility of people buying this game in future who are new or waiting get some money to buy is decreasing rapidly .... hell lot of people are not interested in second playthrough or even multiplayer just reminds us of that stupid ending ... even if I grab my copy of ME2 ... I know the ending ... done I cant bear stand thought of it

I had an effective military strenght of 7000 with a Galactic Readiness of 100%.

Hmm...screenshot, please? No way this can be achieved. I've tried. Scanned every single stupid system, did ALL the side missions (including the dlc, both from ME2 and 3), achived peace with everyone and got all the war assets known out there. Still didn't achieve 4000 ems without mp (I don't play mp)

EDIT: unless you played mp. Then that's another story :)

I don't know why people don't get this.. we are social and emotional creatures :). Add to that fact that stories are an INTEGRAL part of our culture and you have the exact reason for what you're experiencing. It's like someone destroying The Iliad.

When I came to the forums last Tuesday and Wednesday and read the discussion in the general section of how much people hated the endings, I dismissed them(not by actual posts, but mentally) as whiners who had deluded themselves in the months leading up to the game into expecting an unreasonably personally-tailored ending.

After finishing the game at 4am on Sunday morning(which I discovered was actually 5am thanks to DST), I got to say that crow tastes horrible.

I just wanted to add that I'm with "the movement" 100%. I can't sleep because I've been so thoroughly shafted of a proper conclusion to my Shepard's story.

The most irritating thing for me? From the very start until the last 15 minutes I honestly thought I had in my hands one of the greatest gaming experiences of all time. The writing was dramatic and tense, all at the right times. There was some good humor. I even thought they got the mechanics tied down (except for the inclusion of MP having an impact, be it used or not, in the SP). Music was perfect, voice acting, even from Meers who most certainly isn't bad, just a little, wooden maybe at times, was top of the line.

Do you know what, I get the need for a bad ending. There can be no "good" ending to the massacre of countless billions. But an ending that resulted in my Shep actually getting off of the Citadel, back to a devastated earth, with representatives of all the fleets, with my LI, celebrating the end of the extinction cycle? Whilst I don't consider the actual game endings to be fine, it would have been more acceptable on another playthrough.

Whilst I most certainly don't feel cheated like I did with DA2, mainly because the game was spot on for me until the end, I do feel let down that 3 games worth of fighting, choosing, and more fighting, was, ultimately, for nothing.

Shep - "Can you help me?"
Boy thing - "I suppose. I control them. But why should I? Throughout all cycles we have witnessed, organics all end up marveling in their superiority by creating synthetic life, The created will always turn against the creator. We are the solution to this problem"
Shep - "But the geth and quarians.

I guess my main problem with the ending (the Destroy ending, I'd never pick anything else) is that it doesn't feel like a victory. The first two games felt like decisive victories against the Reapers and the Collectors. Even though you can destroy the Reapers in ME3, you sacrifice so much that it doesn't feel the same.

I didn't believe it either.  I never believe leaks because they usually aren't that reliable, just fans clinging to whatever info they can get.  But it was all true.  Everyone was right.  We all get slapped in the face.

Ive seen a lot of ppl who I believe assume that because we hate the ending that it means that we also hated the game. I think ME3 was actually a very very good game with some amazing emotional moments that was a great conclusion to the trilogy. The problem is that when you finish what was a very touching scene with Anderson you get sent to what can only be described as what should have been an ending to a completely different game.

Its obvious Bioware had a more original and satisfying ending involving dark energy and scrubbed it due to leaks and this was their plan B. Unfortunately it makes no sense in the canon of the series and ultimately makes any and every choice from all 3 games completely meaningless.

Love the games and had hoped after the DA2 fiasco they would have learned their lessons but it looks like they trolled us hard with this abomination.

Are you saying that more than one squadmate could end up offing themselves?
