I made it to Palaven on my 2nd playthrough. Once I saw the planet being destroyed, I didn't care. I realized it won't matter in the end anyway. Man, I hate this feeling...

I know.  Even the thought of suiting up with Shepard to go investigate a mysterious find on Eden Prime with Nihilus feels pointless now.

You could say the game was a little.. nihilist.

I'm not able to unsee what I saw.  My headcanon is nice, but that's all it is.

Really, really disappointed with how this ended up. It's a pretty brutal ending that manages to make you feel it's invalidated your entire struggle up to this point, along with all it's sacrifices and successes.

A little bird told me that those of us who are feeling so empty inside, who find ourselves avoiding a lot of the things we normally liked to do and most especially playing any of the ME games again, are actually suffering from a mild form of PTSD.

As a (thankfully medicated) sufferer of clinical depression along with a few other nifty little basket cases, it seems plausible enough to me. I've ridden the emotional roller coaster that is the result of having an untreated mood disorder, and this shock, the aftermath of perhaps the biggest let-down in the last decade of gaming, feels very similar to the kinds of swings I went through. We got socked in the gut by a Russian boxer wearing a cast-iron glove, and most of us are still flat on our backs.

I feel like I attempted to go jousting, and failed...spectacularly.

I think it's interesting how many times I have read "give us a better dlc ending, we'll pay for it" because it sort of goes against the videogame norm. Usually when a fandom is scorned they act out angrily but in this instance the injustice done has rendered everyone in such a state of crippling depression we've become almost desperate. I mean I could have easily seen this become pitchforks threatening to burn down bioware Edmonton if DLC was not provided for free and with haste but that doesn't seem to be the case. Perhaps I've just not been lurking hard enough, maybe a lot of angry people are threatening to never play the bioware games again or what have you but I haven't seen a lot of it.

Yeah I'm desperately hoping Bioware has some master plan that will give us all a better ending. I don't care how much I have to pay for it,or how long I have to wait, I just want there to be a better ending so so much.

I agree you that I'm that desparate.  And also until they do come out with a better ending I personally will not be buying anything Bioware and that saddens me :(

I just joined Twitter... Even though they support our movement here (I read it in an article written by them yesterday), IGN still gave ME3 a 9.5 and called it an amazing ending to the trilogy...

Natasha Shepard snarled under her breath, throwing every shred of will, every ounce of the power that made her the shield, the leader of her friends, her people, her galaxy – and moved The Illusive Man’s control just enough to miss the shot that would have killed Anderson. The Illusive Man was too caught up in his fury to even notice.

“And who will you listen to Shepard? An old solider, stuck in his ways?” He continued a fanatic glint in his eyes. “And what if he’s wrong? What if controlling the Reapers is the answer?”

-normal dialogue here in which Shepard convinces The Illusive Man to pull a Saren; Anderson and Shepard are now freed of The Illusive Man’s control. Anderson is hurt but alive (he’s got a steel vest for god’s sake and it looked like Shepard shot in the stomach)

Sasha leaned heavily on Anderson. Everything hurt so god-damned bad… The Crucible was in place. Was this nightmare… over yet?

“Hang on Shepard. You hang in there.” Anderson said. Sasha grimaced when she attempted to grin.

“I-I think… I’ll survive.” Sasha replied, sounding heavily winded. She pressed a hand to her side to stop the bleeding. “Just glad… you didn’t… pull your gun. Might not… have made it then.”

“You did good child. You did good. I’m proud of you.” Anderson said as he carefully set her down, grimacing as something brushed his own wound.

“Shepard. Commander!” It was Hackett’s voice. “Something’s wrong! Nothing’s happening!”

“What… do you need me to do?” Sasha said. She tried to get up but Anderson stopped her.

-Citadel opens obviously, the panel beneath Shepard starts to move-

“Shepard!” Anderson shouted as the panel beneath her began to rise into the air. Sasha staggered and collapsed heavily.

“Get… out of here Anderson. You’ve earned… a break. I’ll take care of the rest.” Shepard said loudly, wincing as the pain returned full force.

                - Scene with Space Child explaining the whole cycle thing, normal dialogue responses (the whole exchange here doesn’t make sense but I can’t think of anything to fix it) then the kid explains the three
choices

“No.” Sasha said. “None of these choices are the right ones.”

“You have no other options.” The Catalyst said.

“And who… gave you the right to decide? Who… gave you the right to wipe us all out
because we… create synthetics?” Sasha demanded, standing firm. She tried to
stand taller even though she was losing so much blood. “Who… decided the relays
can’t exist?”

“It is the only way to prevent chaos. These are your only solutions.”

“I don’t… believe that. You said it yourself – there is hope for a future because I am standing here. And the only…. the only…” Sasha coughed hard and then continued on, “The only reason I am is because every… race in this galaxy supports me. Even the synthetics, even the geth. Don’t you think we deserve… at least a chance? A chance… to decide… our own future?”

                “The harmony will not last.”

“Then we will… make it last ourselves without someone… deciding for us. Your solution has failed… your new solutions are not better – they would leave hundreds to die trapped…. in this system. This is not order… it’s genocide.”

                - At this point the Catalyst should be able to present a fourth option, given the fact it’s some kind of all powerful space child, that would destroy the Citadel, itself and the reapers but leave the mass relays unharmed. Shepard would be able to die or not die given the amount of war assests collected and of course, would end up on the Normandy if they survived after a long recovery period. Epilogue happens now, explaining what happened. -

I believe this is a better ending for the Ultimate Paragon.

There. You've fixed it.. This could be implemented in a patch with minimal work on Bioware's part. Though I'd want Normandy in system to pick Shepard up if he has enough war assets to survive.

Fixed it.

I can't even bring myself to form headcanon. And that's saying something, seeing as I'm a "professional fanfiction writer" of Star Wars material.

People are seriously attached to the characters in this game and dedicated to the story, it's not surprising that the "death complex" shows up. First sadness and disbelief, then anger, desperation... and potentially acceptance, although tolerance is more likely as we are talking fantasy here, not inevitability.

Regardless, I won't be buying anything until an ending alteration is made, and even then it will be difficult. As far as I'm concerned, what you ship is the final product... the ending is official. Any additional content is moot as there is no hope and no future for that which was enjoyed.

Fortunately, there is still hope for alternation for those who desire it: capitalism is driven by harnessing desire, and we- the consumers- are that desire in its rawest form. If the expression of such desire reaches the right share holders...Image IPB

Man did you say it right.  My cousin called me earlier and asked how it was (he just started ME2, only got into the series recently) and I told him that it was awesome, becouse it was.  I just don't mention how the last 5-10 minuted invalidates all of that.

Yep, I can very much relate to that.

Mass Effect is the best gaming series I have ever played and the Mass Effect games are the only ones I play multiple times to enjoy the story and to complete the achievements.

There've been those people. Generally though, we're genial and just want a conclusion. I myself am in the camp of not wanting to give BioWare any more money than I already have if this is never fixed. And I'm iffy on the subject of giving them MORE money to fix the ending. But that's just me, and I don't represent everyone else.

I'm in this camp too. I am very unlikely to purchase anything from Bioware unless they fix this. As they say, trust isn't given, it's earned. And Bioware dropped the ball with this game to a degree where they are going to have to work very hard to get back to a point where I trust them.

Its a double punch to the gut considering how much the ending was hyped by Bioware.  How we would all be so satisfied and the implicaiton that I got that we would be left with a warn fuzzy feeling if we put enough effort, made the right decisions, ect...

The scene with Aderson was so good... so intense... so emotional... and then BAM! to the gut.

EA/Bioware needs to fix this.  They just lost a whole ton of fans with this ending.  Hopefully capitilism dictates that they need to regain our faith.  I know mine is completely dissolved.
