Part of me is not sure how to respond to this. The pessimist in me is contemplating that he is feeling this way because this was intended as the real ending, and they are seeing the reaction to it. I hope I am wrong.

I think it's interesting how many times I have read "give us a better dlc ending, we'll pay for it" because it sort of goes against the videogame norm. Usually when a fandom is scorned they act out angrily but in this instance the injustice done has rendered everyone in such a state of crippling depression we've become almost desperate. I mean I could have easily seen this become pitchforks threatening to burn down bioware Edmonton if DLC was not provided for free and with haste but that doesn't seem to be the case. Perhaps I've just not been lurking hard enough, maybe a lot of angry people are threatening to never play the bioware games again or what have you but I haven't seen a lot of it.

Pfft, makes perfect sense.  We're grieving.  It's been a couple of days now - we've made it through Denial and Anger already and have arrived at Bargaining.  I hope I don't hit Depression in the middle of my workday tomorrow.

More seriously though, I think the almost shocking civility and willingness to be reasonable is a testament to the depth of the problem, and also how specific is.  This is an excellent game, but for some incomprehensible reason, the last fifteen minutes and only the last fifteen minutes are shockingly bad.  People aren't angry, they're hurt, and we don't want to punish Bioware, we just want them help us fix this.

I'm glad the game has bad ratings on Metacritic and Amazon. User reviews of course, hopefully they will get the message.

5.0/10 on Metacritic www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/mass-effect-3
and
2.6/5 on Amazon www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-3-Xbox-360/product-reviews/B004FYEZMQ/ref=cm_cr_dp_all_recent

I personally gave it a bad rating, because you can't promise so much and not deliver on it.

I have no idea how to rate ME3.

See, I LOVED the game, loved nearly all of it, just that ending ruins everything I thought I had done.

But... does this make the game bad? Well... no not really. It's still one of the best games I've ever played.... but the ending is one of the must insulting half-assed pieces of crap I've ever seen, too.... so I have no clue what to do.

Yeah, I will rate it better if we get new endings. I just want to Bioware and EA that we won't stand for this. It's the only thing we can do really... It was a really good game. The ending just killed the whole franchise, the promised endings that would be different from what choices you made throughout the series, and none of that  made a difference at all. How could they promise things for year just to turn around and say deal with it.

I find the endings to be rather odd. There's a lot of talk about hope in the game and in reality there's no hope. Organics wishing to live is chaos and rebellion against the "creators".

Real life can be messy for certain, but nothing is more beautiful than life...certainly not death. Why make a game like this? To glorify hopelessness and futility. Do you think Star Wars would have been as popular if the "Emperor" had turned Luke and the galaxy fallen into the hands of the Empire?

...really amazing stuff bioware....and I mean that in its worst connotation.

Though I've had my own (private, never aired-out) differences with Chris in the past, I am genuinely sorry to hear that he's feeling so bad about all this. Hell, I wish he was able to feel happy at our combined outpouring of thankfulness and adulation of a game well-made and a saga well-concluded.

I wish I could. But I can't.

Can you?

He didn't say what he felt bad about... that kinda worries me actually...

EDIT: Ah, didn't see someone else posted it, was busy getting angry at Owen for thinking he knows whats it about when he says in the start he hasn't even bothered looking into it...

It's ok. I posted a comment with most of our grievances and set him right. Even linked him to this thread and told him to explore our opinions if he wanted to write another, more informed article.

That's good!  I think the more we can get the reviewers/critics? on our side the better right?

The more we get on our side the better, definitely. But guess what? I went back to find my comment, maybe edit it a little to more properly show our side (I edit a lot cuz I always think of better ways to express arguments later); I can't find it. My comment (that I wrote not ten minutes ago) has been buried under a mountain of comments calling Owen out on his bull****.

Here is how I view it.  Give it a bad rating, say that the game was good until the ending.  If we get a new/fixed ending, go back and change your review to relfect that.

Exactly, hurt their sales nothing speaks louder than money.

You know what I don't think they need to do much to change the endings. Really a cinematic from after Anderson dies is all you need. Throw in a better montage (more than just the quick shots of Joker etc). Add a scene with Shep and his LI as an epilogue over the grandad. And as for the final decision, to be honest I'd be content with just killing the reapers, saving earth and shep surviving.

Fans are going to have to compromise, if Bioware did redo an ending it would be less varied (not that it is varied right now), but we may only get the one revised version.

I just joined Twitter... Even though they support our movement here (I read it in an article written by them yesterday), IGN still gave ME3 a 9.5 and called it an amazing ending to the trilogy...

They were also given an exclusive guide on how to obtain what they still claim is 16 endings.  PR is all up in them.

In case you were wondering, there are technically 16 endings, although none of them seem to satisfy the way people wanted.

ENDINGS
If you imported a save where the collector’s base was saved, then these are your possible endings:
  • If your Readiness Rating is below 1,750 points, Earth is destroyed
regardless of the choice to destroy the Reapers or become one.
  • At a 1,750 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers, Earth is destroyed.
  • At a 2,050 Readiness Rating, if you choose to become a Reaper, Earth is saved.
  • At a 2,350 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers, Earth is devastated but still there.
  • At a 2,650 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers, Earth is saved.
  • At a 2,800 Readiness Rating you’re able to create synergy between organics and synthetics, saving Earth and the galaxy.
  • At a 4,000 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers and “saved” Anderson, Shepard lives.
  • At a 5,000 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers and did not “save” Anderson, Shepard lives.
If you imported a save where the collector’s base was destroyed or
you didn’t import a Mass Effect 2 save, then these are your possible
endings:
  • If your Readiness Rating is below 1,750 points, Earth is destroyed
regardless of the choice to destroy the Reapers or become one.
  • At a 1,750 Readiness Rating, if you choose to become a Reaper, Earth is destroyed.
  • At a 1,900 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers, Earth is devastated but still there.
  • At a 2,350 Readiness Rating, if you choose to become a Reaper, Earth is saved.
  • At a 2,650 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers, Earth is saved.
  • At a 2,800 Readiness Rating, you are able to create synergy between organics and synthetics, saving Earth and the galaxy.
  • At a 4,000 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers and “saved” Anderson, Shepard lives.
  • At a 5,000 Readiness Rating, if you choose to destroy the Reapers and did not “save” Anderson, Shepard lives.

[*]I have my readiness at 6341 and Anderson always got shot by me because illusive man force my shep to. I'm full paragon and have some renegade, I use paragon only, paragon/renegade, paragon/ren/normal, and Anderson still died. -_-
[*]Do you know how to choose to save Anderson?

Screwed up ending. Everything goes to **** no matter what..

"Take back earth" "We need to get back to earth" and so on..Didn't matter squat! In the end it was just a coincidence the reapers tok the citadel to earth. What if they dragged it to Thessia? z.z

The game lost it's focus haaaard in the end.

Yeah, it does.

I mean, we're social creatures, we're hard-wired to feel sympathy toward others' distress and to provide help when we're able. The ME games themselves reinforce this fact a million times over—IMHO that is a huge chunk of why this ending is such a crapshoot.

not that much about the ending the DLC thing is wrong and bad way to do thing but is a little moot wen you have such a ****** poor ending to an otherwise grate game that just wrecks the whole thing.

EA/Bioware needs to fix this.  They just lost a whole ton of fans with this ending.  Hopefully capitilism dictates that they need to regain our faith.  I know mine is completely dissolved.

Dictate, no. Open the opportunity, yes. EA is a bureaucracy, and that makes getting to those who are important potentially difficult. The media also can act like a barrier as many popular sources are prone to bias "cheerleading". We can complain all we want but we still need to "bypass the Reaper's shields".

Fortunately, there are far simpler and more logical outcomes available that would ALSO add content in the process. Remember all those star clusters invaded by Reapers? Take away the superweapon's omnipotency and the game practically opens itself up to another 40 hours of content that is both profitable to the company and desirable to those who personally want to participate in the Reaper's expulsion from the Milky Way.

I wrote in this thread before, but it is looong down now^^. And I have played ME 3 once more. This is my view on it.
"copy-paste from another thread I answered in"

That may be only 3 endings, but I loved them all^^. I freaking love this game. I can't get more readiness and so on since I don't play MP, but I believe I got a good ending. The green is the way for me=). I only wish I could see how life became after my Shep saved everyone. I wanted more information about all races. That is the only thing lacking for me. The game is epic with a few small flaws. I'm going to my third play though now=D. I only wish MP was separated from the main game. Not all enjoy MP.

I want an option to put my gun up to the little god child's virtual head (data core whatever) and tell him to eat **** and die, then pull the trigger.
This entire game felt like I was getting ready to hold the line against the darkness for one last great battle. The last battle feels like the charge of the rohirium (sp?) in the return of the king, are we totally outnumbered? Yup. Are most of us going to die? Yep. Ok, CHARGE! The final fight on earth was well done, epic, glorious, then the citadel happened… the god child showed up, and… my Sheppard forgot who he was, and what he was fighting for. He stopped believing that it was a better to die on your feet then live (or die) on your knees. I walked into the green beam, but I did it shooting at the little SOB the entire way. My last act of defiance… for all the good it did.
