When I saw everyone complaining about the ending, I didn't spoil myself, and thought everyone was moaning for the sake over something little. But this... God, it's such a downer. There are so many loose ends that weren't tied up, fates of individuals that we haven't learnt.
By definition, I think I got the best ending, but it sure as **** doesn't feel that way. While I expected to lose people, and I did, I thought the best would entitle Shepard to live the rest of his days in piece, with those he/she loved.
I threw my Shepard into the beam to unite synthetics and organics, but I'm really regretting that. I'm seriously considering going back and choosing the option where he doesn't die, and I'm assuming the only way to do that is to control the Reapers, because it sounded like destroying them would kill Shepard anyway.
Don't get me wrong, the actual game is amazing, a lot of fun, but these endings... it really sucks it out of that experience, making it all seem for naught.
I guess, at the end of the day, I wanted an ending where Liara and Shepard could've had their little blue children together.
On another note, the squaddies that you take on the charge against Harbinger, do they survive? I think I saw Liara walking out of the Normandy after they crashed, but I'm not sure. Anyone have an answer?
No, destroy is the only option that allows you to survive if you have 5000+ ESM, but God Child makes it sound like it'd kill you because (atleast in most theories) he is just Harbringer or another Reaper trying to control Shepard, so he makes Synthesis and Control Reapers sound like the best choice, while Destroy does the same thing as the others but will kill you and Geth (maybe EDI I dunno)
God Child uses the figure of the child Shepard is haunted of, which also leans towards it might be a hallucination or he is indoctrinated.
Chose Synthesis the first time myself and was very very very unhappy, was like "No way my story ends like that", so I went back and chose the destroy and my Shepard survived that. Though it still pisses my off how out of character Shepard is and totally accepts the only choices he has, because he always do that right? If it's impossible, it's impossible, Shepard can't do the impossible right? I hate that I can't survive without destroying the Geth, my Shepard had always spared the Geth, even in situations where they were close to releasing the Overlord AI, and when they could have wiped out the Quarians, whats the difference now? Why should he falter?
That wasn't my Shepard, and I doubt anyones really at the end.
Wait, so how does Shepard end up dying if you choose to control the Reapers?

Vocal minority my ***, this is a complete disaster for Bioware. People forget that video gaming still is a very closed community if you don't count Wii Sports and stuff like that. This WILL have consequences one way or another. There is a reason why Fallout 3 was fixed, they knew that people's opinion matter if they're enough of them.

Finally someone who actually supports us, a shame they use "rage" in the title though, as it's not really rage. I first started posting here after I had calmed down and was able to express myself in a manner where I be decent. If we just rage for a better ending it'd never happen.

Unfortunately for me I haven't made it past the anger part of the grieving process, so yeah I'm pretty pissed off about it. That doesn't mean I can't have a civil coversation but f______ a I'm still seething with rage.

Not sure if this has already been said, reading 809 pages will take me days haha, but has it been said that the ending could be both real and hallucinating? Because it feels real up until the point where Shep collapses in the citadel after the Anderson bit. However it feels like he was indoctrinated/hallucinating and conceiving different things throughout the game, (the black edges around the screen etc,the dreams).. Just wondering?.... I know that this is sort of debunked by the 20 second clip of Shep alive at the end though. Just figured it could be a possibility.
p.s hated the ending also, feels unfinished.
