So we can't get the ending we want after all?

Unless the DLC is post-ending (or preferably the ending rewritten), I have no real interest in it. The Mass Effect universe is no more so why bother?

Well, the only thing we can do is to fight for our opinion and belief. This forum exists, because BioWare sees itself as a fan-near, community-oriented developer who wants to know what their customers/fans are thinking. So, again, why not use this?
I just don't want to end five years of gaming, hundreds of hours with Shepard, Garrus, Tali etc. this way. And this has nothing to do with selfishness or arrogance, since Mass Effect always also (to a part) belonged to the fans playing it.
Hey, we are fans. And if we think, something went wrong, why not react to it? We all know BioWare can do better. And Shepard and Normandy-Crew deserves better.

Yes, yes we can.

According to this, ME3 has gone down to 45$ On many sites and the CE is now under 80, the sales of ME3 are already hurting like mad, the shares in EA have gone down over the last while. We are winning this, keep it up everyone, I know it hurts to have to do it to them, but they have left us no other recourse. Hold the Line!

If we do nothing, nothing changes. We'd have no one to blame but ourselves. We deserve what we do. If we act now and do not let up, do not lose interest, and do not stop using our voice something will change. If Bioware ignores the very fans it claims to the industry that it listens to, more articles like the two Forbes articles will become the norm rather than the exception. The ability of gaming media to continue to prop up the ideal of a fan-friendly Bioware will become flimsy, profits will fall all around and cracks will show.
If Bioware listens, everyone wins. Their image is at least somewhat restored, profits continue if not increase, and the fans know that if something is truly problematic, truly wrong, and if they do not give up, Bioware will listen. That will only increase fan and brand loyalty, and only benefit everyone.
That's if we keep doing something, if we do nothing then we deserve all that we do.
And if this fails, we at least went down fighting one hell of a fight.

We can. The media will do what is always done, and let it.
If we continue to persevere, we will rally more followers, draw more attention, get more support. Let everyone hate on us, it only works to make us stronger.
And here we are, on Bioware's home ground. THOUSANDS of us SHOUTING with the voices given to us for change. You can bet they will take notice. WE pay their bills, WE feed their children, WE keep THEM going.
Damn straight there is going to be a change around here.

If they choose to ignore this many people who are still in a growing number. then that's bad for them, and considering the fact that these are fans who have signed up. this isn't like 1 day dlc which can go fairly unnoticed this is WAAAAY worse a situation to be in as devs.
I think they might "get the picture" when no one buys their products.

Looking at the credits, I thought about doing a second play through but I couldn't find the desire to do so despite replaying ME2 four times.
All of the plot that happened after the talk with Anderson slowly drained my passion for the universe as everything I had done (particularly peace between the Quarians and Geth) was talked away by an exposition dump, justified in the contradictory premise that organic life must be destroyed by synthetic life to prevent it being destroyed by synthetic life... its like a logic paradox that is used to confuse a robot.
Why weren't the Reapers just made to come in and wipe out all AI and synthetic life if this was the threat they were made to guard against? It would have been much quicker and less genocidal path.
Other than that my main disappointments where:
1) No "Normandy moment" where the ship pulls off some slick maneuvers. I was hoping it would come in and kill Harbinger since it had been said so many times in the game "you can kill a Reaper real easy when it's landing on a planet or taking off!"
2) The deus ex machina ending with the Catalyst speaking to Shepard after the MacGuffin of the Crucible. I can deal with the Crucible bit but both together is too much. The decisions in ME always polarised me and made me act on my emotion with a gut feeling I could trust. But after the conversation with the Catalyst I was stuck over what action to take since all of the options screwed the galaxy and none of them represented the Galaxy I had fought to protect.
3) No proper epilogue for the squad mates and galaxy at large.
4) Don't get me started on the Normandy crash landing on some random jungle planet with your Hammer Team members suddenly being there as well.

Yes this. As John Sheridan, a captain who doesn't fold to ancient forces in the end, would say "It can't end like this, I won't allow it".

Having now seen the end, or should I say my end, in context i'm surprised to find I don't actually mind it that much, even kinda satisfied with it. I'm even fairly embarrassed by some of the things I said about it before seeing it myself.
The 'starkid' did a ghostbusters and used an image from shep's mind as a form to interact with him and it wasn't exactly a stretch of the imagination to figure that after shep went into the beam the rest of the crew, unable to reach it either had joker pick them up or shuttled up to it in an effort to approach the citadel then when it was about to do its thing unable to know exactly what the effect would be they got the hell away from it.
Not having the right to fundamentally alter the DNA of trillions of people whether they liked it or not and not willing to be the one to control the reapers I just blew the damn thing up.
As far as i'm aware the relays did not blow up and the Normandy no doubt has a beefy distress signal, where they might have crashed could be extrapolated from their last known location and trajectory so help would be on the way when they don't report in.
Would I like a long epilogue explaining all the details and what happened to everyone? sure, i'm one of those gamers that eats that stuff up but i wouldn't categorize not having that as 'wrong'
Actually, the ghost kid said himself that the relays would blow up. And we know, through the in-game codex and the DLC 'The Arrival', that a mass relay exploding takes out all terrestrial planets in a solar system.
The relays were destroyed, but you're assuming they blew up in the same way as what happens when you collide a large asteroid with one. No one knew what the physical consequences of what the crucible/catalyst would have on the relays, since such a thing has never been done before, so I don't see how that particular detail could be in the codex (beyond hypotheses). In any case, we know it's not the same effect; Earth is still there if you destroy the relays.

But thinking about it more and more, I'm almost certain Bioware will reveal it to be a mind-screw and that Shepard was indoctrinated. A lot of other people out there (including the one massive thread in this forum) suspect the same thing. Whether or not it was pre-planned or used after the fact to put out the firestorm of fan disappointment, we'll find out.
Mass Effect has been planned with such care and attention to date, I don't feel like they would tack on some screwy or rushed ending...

Same here. I played ME at least three times and ME2 around five times. But now I can't think of playing on of these games ever again. It's all about the story and the story has now been destroyed by the "ending".
I know, I was looking forward to being able to play thru the series about once a year or so, been doing that with modded Baldurs Gate for years now.

By god, this thread is still going. I have to admit I found the reaction to the endings laughable, espacially when the whole thing started even before the game was out. Well, I just finished the game and all I have to say is... really, I mean REALLY? So the same people who wrote that entire game, made me cry over Mordin and Legion, made me like characters I never liked before *cough* Garrus *cough* and gave me the greatest game I have played in at least half a decade are the same people who wrote these endings? REALLY? I might be able to handle all the stuff about the catalyst-space-god-child-reaper-thing and the three decions if after that they would give me more than just a 5 minute mess of a cutscene after 120 hours of gameplay and that is counting only one full playthrough.
This is exactly like i reacted. I thought "Ok maybe sheperd dies but how bad could it possibly be?" I couldn't understand all the fuzz until i saw it with my own eyes.
On the other hand. If the Indoctrination theory is right (or close to it) the real-end-DLC would sell like gold. Probably get the writers a dozen awards for best marketing coupe in recent gaming history.
You reading this Bioware? Make it happen!

I was actually expecting there to be an option to talk the Catalyst out of his plan, just as Sheridan did with the Shadows and Vorlons to beat them. Using the truth to win, "Hoping the truth sets us free, before it kills us".
