More from Kotaku.

Oh look, another piece from Kotaku saying we're all idiots and that CLEARLY the ending of ME3 was just literary genius that was supposed to make us all depressed and hopeless. Nevermind the plotholes, huge shift in tone, stripping away our choices, and abject change in Shepard's character. Nope, clearly my 134 hours and 50 minutes of gameplay were all just giving me an illusion of choice, and there's noting wrong with that.

Well they got one thing right, it sure is depressing.

If Bioware ever listens to us or come out and say that this was their plan all along, I swear I am writing a letter to every single one of those "journalists" and thanking them for their support but informing them that they were mistaken; that was not the right ending.
I hate journalists who go against the mass population. I mean, aren't they supposed to inform people without being biased? I know there are some who are opinion writers, but...seriously? Can't they write about without sounding like they're superior and more awesome than everyone else?
All I hear from them is "I thought the ending was awesome, but you didn't.  But this is the ending, so deal with it". <_<

I used to be an avid reader of Kotaku, since I always found their articles informative. Now that I know how some of their staff views people who dare to express their opinions... Well it seems I need to find a new gaming site to frequent.

And anyone who bought it would be a damn fool.

I won't be paying for a proper ending. It should've been in the game. I would've paid for continued adventures, but at this stage, I am completely uninterested in continuing in the Mass Effect universe.

I would like to see Bioware apologize and issue a free DLC to fix it. If they do this, then /respect.

At this juncture, I wouldn't be surprised if they claim "indoctrination / it was all a dream" was the plan all along, and then fix things in a paid DLC. But would any of you really believe there was a master plan, after the trouble they had with the writing staff and the complete changing of horses mid-stream from ME2 to ME3? I mean, all that dark energy stuff just kind of petered off, and we got this instead.

Hm.

I would, but that doesnt mean i will pay for something that should be in my game already.

Truth.. I understand if they ran out of time.. tell us that, say you'll fix it and release it as DLC.. I'd pay for that... I realize it's expensive to pay salaries, so budget it as a DLC... enough of the PR runaround, admit it's not perfect, admit you dropped the ball in the last 10 seconds of the game and take your last play, clap hands, yell something profound, pat Miranda on the butt, and then hunker down and take it the rest of the way to a win.

There's nothing I can say that someone else hasn't already said by now.

So I just want to say that I'm one more huge Mass Effect fan that was really disappointed by the endings in Mass Effect 3. I expected better - I wanted my decisions to really matter. Instead I got more questions than answers and a wealth of things that didn't make any sense (the biggest being why the Normany was out in a relay "tunnel," which not only shouldn't exist because the transportation is instantaneous, but also had my crew who was just on the ground at Earth).

I really hope we can get some better closure here. When Mass Effect: Deception had problems, Bioware promised to make things right. I just hope they do the same for Mass Effect 3...

I have a small fantasy I've been entertaining, in that Bioware did do this on purpose, as a final way of telling EA that their bullcrap does nothing but infuriate fans, ruin what could be masterpieces, and they need to pull their heads out of their asses. Once there is enough backlash from this whole disaster, Bioware reveals it to us, gives EA the finger, and releases the ending the Mass Effect series deserves.

I feel like that would rally an entire army of Bioware support, so they could free themselves from EA's indoctrination.

I started my second play-through and as I got to the Mars mission and met up with Liara, and she mentioned the Prothean device, I thought to myself..."whats the point."

Had the same thing happening to me, just now.^^

I remembered something, by the way... in one preview I read a few months ago... there it was stated that there will not be "one super weapon that ends the reaper threat"... yea right.

I felt this as well. Whats the point in playing if we just get that magical deus ex machine that just fixes everything....

Mass effect wiki

Mass Effect 3 was released March 6, 2012 in North America, March 8, 2012 in Australia and Switzerland, and March 9, 2012 in Europe.[2][3] The game was originally slated for a 'Holiday 2011' release but was delayed to "[ensure] that it exceeds everyone's expectations"[4] and "address a far larger market opportunity."[5] Prior to that, Ray Muzyka had stated that the release timing would be based on maximising both "quality" and "commercial success

should i be crying or laughing?

A fair bit of new media coverage, including at least one site (Forbes) that has started changing their mind (that Erik fellow)

Wait, wasn't Forbes on our side to begin with? If so... that's not good.

Funny thing is. I'd buy a DLC to "finish the fight" if they came out after releasing the FIRST TRAILER (ever) of ME3 and said that the ending in the game isn't when it appears. And that they'll add DLC updates inbetween the "Faux Ending" and the "Real Ending", with the "Real Ending" being a free DLC.

I mean think about it...if we had an end that negates all DLC that takes place after the "big fight". Unless you pull a DBZ and a "more powerful foe" shows up.

Heck, this could be the opener for a Mass Effect MMO. You pick up where Shep left off (indoc. theory; we never left Earth). And you play alongside Shep as a Human, Turian, Asari, Krogan, or Salarian (more added in expansions). And when the MMO raps up you get a free DLC for ME3 that finishes the fight, which would explain why that one tweet says to hold onto your ME3 saved games.

The whole premise of the MMO being fighting the Reapers on the various worlds (starting with Earth) they've invaded.

The DLC would then be the final battle of the war...the last stronghold of Reapers being taken down by the combined "Galactic Alliance Fleet".

So for a picto-graph:
ME1 -> ME2 -> ME3 -> MMO -> ME3:DLC -> End of Series

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been tempted to remove Kotaku and Gizmodo from my RSS feeds for a while now. I still have them there but I generally have more respect for The Escapist and Engadget now.

It amazes me how many people call us whiners we paid 60-85 damn dollars for this game I think we have the right to complain we all felt cheated at the end.

Yeah I paid $80,not to mention $30 for ME,$25 for ME2 Plus about 60 for it's DLC,and then there is the over 100+ hourse I spent playing these games since 2007.  Also the fact that I jusped through ever hoop they put in front of me to keep my crew alive and unite the galaxy.  I am not playing this game again and if Bioware wants my money for DLC or any of their other games they need to fix this ending.  I will not be investing any more of my time and money into bioware games.  What is the point?  They make a big deal about letting you make all this choices and shape your character and the galaxy and then they just ignore them and have Shepard behave in a way my Shepard never would and render the past two game spointless?!  I hate being depress Biowares seems to think that depression is what life is all about so they just lost my money.

Thanks to shipping and tax, almost $100 for my CE, ME 1 and 2 at full price, all the gameplay DLC and the artbook.  Then when you look at the hundreds of hours put into playing and on top of that, it costs lots of money having to buy my wife Frappe's from McDonalds to appease her whole "wow I dont think I have a husband anymore" attitude.

Time, money and ridicule from a "loved one" just to get a kick in the daddy buttons from my guilty pleasure.  sigh...

Just finished myself, gotta admit that was not the finest ending.
Last time i felt like this was when i went to watch Matrix Revolution. A big - WTF just happen.

And what about this Galatic Readniess, War Assest and choices. How exactly did all that play in as BioWare advertise all year that it would? I cant see anything that would result in any different gameplay or ending whether or not you get more or less fleets, kill off characters or not ect.

Dont get me wrong, i quite enjoyed the journey to the end. I think it was a perfect build-up and some of BW's finest work with cinematic story-telling/gameplay.

Tho now that iv played it to end i see no reason as to why i should play it again with any of my other 6 character saves from ME1 to ME2 considering absolutely nothing changes with a different character.

So yeah, great build-up to end, but not the most satisfying of ending. And i see very little reason to boot up another character save to replay it again. =(

Makes Kotaku look like a bunch of morons IMO.
