Yes, because "Violette" is an oh so popular name amongst WWII spies. They actually collaborated with Szabo's daughter while they were making the game, until she got a whiff of what they were doing and cut ties. Even so, they marketed it as "based on the true story of Violette Szabo," it was even on the back of the box. Also, the game mechanics sucked.txgoldrush wrote...

In war, you always have to choose the lesser of two evils. There are no happy endings.
It's not about the ending, it's about the journey.
People should play Velvet Assassin....a WWII game thats not all glory, in fact, th eending could very well be the most grim official ending in a video game.
And if you look at the game, it was never about Sbazo....in fact the game took place BEFORE Sbazo was even doing missions. The only similiarity was the first name.
And NO game has ever portrayed the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and massacre. They did a damn good job with that level.

Did they really? That's incredibly inappropriate. The best WWII intrigue game of this gen is Saboteur anyway.

WRONG
Its says INSPIRED, not based....huge difference. They NEVER colloborated with her daughter.
Nevermind the fact that the game took place in 1943 and early 1944, while Szabo was active an late 1944 and 1945. Or that Szabo never operated in Poland. Or that real Violette was captured raped and executed....while game Violette survives, but badly emotionally and physically scarred.
And except for Mission 11, the games writing and storytelling was brilliant and so was the brutal ending.

It's totally off topic, so I won't respond again, but it only says "inspired" because Tania Szabo refused to sign off on the project. I don't care how stylish and dark the game was, a British female spy named "Violette" is portrayed as running around in lingerie and stabbing ****s in the junk. Insult to Szabo, end of story.

What's it even matter anyway? So what if you like Duke Nukem Forever? It doesn't mean you're a sexist. I make sexist or bigoted jokes all the time. It's satire (or that's how I see it). The only thing Duke Nukem Forever did was go way over the top with all of their jokes. It's like the creators thought, "we've waited too long, let's crap a decade plus worth of cop/pig, gay, sex, and womanizing jokes in it. And to top it off, we'll overdo it on the self-degradation for taking so long to make the damn game." That's what turned me off from the game. Tried too hard. But playing a game, if you think it's fun, doesn't mean you're a sexist.
It'd be like saying, "a good liberal doesn't watch Stephen Colbert. He bashes them all the time!"

Yes, devs said ME3 story will conclude Shepard's arc and it will be final, conclusive blah, blah...The only conclusive ending for Shepard is that he\\she dies, leaving Shep stranded is not conclusive, but you can get the picture of what will happen. So, it seems BW decided to clear the road the easy way - get the protagonist killed. What a way to end the series, damn it.
I'm not even gonna start about the Normandy "conclusive" ending - just horrible
I will still play the game once, just to see this story through to it's bitter end, but great replayability PR crap...not gonna happen. I play roleplaying games for the story and characters, not action - knowing that it will end so badly and no sense of reward or satisfaction awaits me at the end turns me away even now.
I'm sure many game reviewing parrots will sing praises how these endings are original, realistic and whatever bull**** they can come up with, I'm not buying it - there's nothing original in them, they're just a sadistic disservice to the loyal fans.

I understand. I'm speaking in regards to D17. I always took Duke Nukem Forever as satire. I haven't seen anything to suggest it's otherwise. So to me, D17's suggestion that a good person couldn't enjoy Duke Nukem Forever is just the same as someone that believes the Colbert Report is the real deal.
