Why is everyone in the media like "Yo the ending was great" or "Wow look at those fools on BSN thinking they can get anything".

I mean we all played the same game and for most reviewers they played it without Javik (which doesn't matter much but I thought he was an ass but a good thought through character) so why all the hate from media? They should feel the need to have their decisions pay off in some way too right? or are they just to jaded to care?

I like my ending the best. When I was told to make a choice I turned my Shep around and walked away. In doing so I was lifted off of the ground and onto the ledge. When I walked forward I fell through the map and fell into space until my game froze. Much better ending then the other ones.

Damn. I'm just trying to watch my wrestling, but every commercial break I'm reminded of ME3.

The opening of Raw was almost (almost) as bad as the ME3 ending.

What makes me sad, is that the few tidbits of info we got from the developer' side has been of sadness and feeling offended at us trying to take their baby from them.

I wish they could see, that we are here not because we hate bioware or the team that made ME3, we are here because we love the work and the universe they built, we value these games as much or more than our favourite books, movies. If anyone doubts that gaming could be art, this rally around ME3 shows that videogames can light up the biggest of passions.

Yes, this, and it's why being dismissed as acting whiny or entitled is so annoying.  I don't feel like I'm demanding anything from Bioware - I'm pleading with them for it.  I like these people.

This is exactly the point that I feel many of us are trying to get across. I don't think many of us would be here if we didn't love Mass Effect just as much - if not more - than the people who made it and want to see it live up to its full potential, because we believe it can be so much better with a little bit of effort.

I think he's missing the whole point in the first half of that video about the endings.  It's not that we think we own the story, but we were sold a bill of goods that ended up being BS about how much control we ultimately had over what would happen at the end with all our decisions made up to that point.  Apparently he thinks we're all "stupid" though for the petitions and uproar.  He asks for feedback on his Twitter account, tempted to give him some.......

He is correct about the DLC though, if you don't like it, then don't buy it.  Problem there is, if you do that then you don't get to play it, and this generation isn't so good at "going without".  We can vote with our wallets and yet so seldom do we ever do so in a manner or volume that would do any good.

Really just so disappointing..I just can't get over what a <i>waste</i> it was. A WASTE. Of such a great story...a great universe...a one of a kind experience. Just thrown away with a piecemeal, garbage ending. Tragic.

I think what makes this situation unique, that is, Mass Effect's ending unique, is the nature of the Mass Effect games (and perhaps the RPG genre as a whole). This isn't like not caring for the ending of a book, movie, or even a video game outside of the RPG genre. It's uniquely open to criticism in the sense that RPGs are supposed to allow you to, you know, play roles. In order for that to have any substance whatsoever, there needs to be branches and consequences, as a way of differentiating one "role" from another. That can occur in a lot of forms...

Mass Effect's branches and consequences began in ME1 as all over the place (more complex micromanagement with weaponry and armor, etc), but it was always, and continued to be throughout the series, touted that the most integral branches and consequences for Mass Effect occurred in the story. This was entirely true of the series up until the now infamous final 15 minutes of the game. It's both difficult to see "branches" when the only difference between the three endings is color and EDI / Joker, but also there is no mention whatsoever of consequences.

In other words, it fails in almost every conceivable way, right down to the most basic. It starts failing when the ending is, preferentially, unsatisfactory (too depressing, ruins the ME universe, and so on). It continues failing, objectively, when it makes absolutely no sense (in terms of the numerous plotholes that it gives rise to, on top of the just plain weird things such as the Catalyst's form, the teleporting crewmates, etc). It then proceeds to fail, methodologically, that is, as an ending to an RPG title that has been built around story, by presenting branches that are not sufficiently distinct, and displaying no consequences as a result of choosing between them.

I think it's this unique perfect imperfection, if you will, that has all but united fans of the series against it. It's "their story," but it's also ours, too. I, for one, truly hope something comes from all of our efforts... I think our overwhelming response to the ending, while troubling, should also be very flattering to the writers. You have us invested. We're just asking you to keep us there.

Not a waste.  If it were a waste, we wouldn't be here.  It's a beautiful story, universe, and trilogy of games.

That just happened to have a ****ty ending.

But if I didn't care about it and care about the people that made it, I would just leave for greener pastures.

Call everyone back in? You're kidding right. I would bet the money I spent on all of the games and the dlc that there are teams still at work at one of the bioware studios doing dlc or maps for multiplayer. I would like them to do something else with the ending to the game but you can't really believe that they are all sitting at home just chilling.

Thats my point they're busy workin DLC and trying to keep the game fresh. Hell they might be working on some Dlc that takes place after who knows. But to waste money and resources to change the ending is absurd and just plain dumb. If pwople dont like take it back. Stop b*tching.
