I agree to an extent, the ending writing is bad no doubt in my mind. Unless it is a dream... then that sucks and we still don't have an ending.

I also agree to an extent but am so happy that FINALLY someone in the MEDIA agrees with us instead of the boiler plate .... "Yea the ending was fine"

I don't understand why no one else cares about such a bad ending that makes it so your choices don't matter.

I beat ME3 feeling disappointed and lied to. I recently replayed Mass Effect (the original) and intend to bring my Shepard through to ME2 and ME3 once again. Hopefully by that time BioWare will have done something about these tasteless endings.

There is a reason why PR and marketing departments are paid so much in a lot of industries. Perception is very important in every business. There are a lot of fans that are very unhappy with the Mass Effect ending and I dare say that the amount of posts and attacks on Bioware are even greater than the Dragon Age 2 ending. Bioware could decide to just ignore the problem and hope that it goes away, but they won't. If say 20% of fans absolutely abhor the ending and 50% of those fans decide to never buy Bioware games anymore. That's a 10% revenue loss and that amounts to well over millions of dollars lost. The Bioware team has to deal with this problem either through PR or through a DLC. The fans that are still posting and keeping these threads going are getting the attention of bloggers and eventually those blog posts will draw the attention of "official gaming sites". It's a dominoes effect and eventually Bioware is going to lose a lot of credibility if they don't deal with this problem.

I tried, as a show of good faith, to send both Mike Gamble and Chris Priestly tweets telling them that, even though I disliked the endings, I still saw the game as a whole as a master piece. But they ignored those messages. Mass Effect is my favorite game series. Honestly, before I found it five years ago, I was in a very bad place emotionally. Mass Effect gave me an escape that no other media could. The control, the massive universe and lore. She characters that are so easy to love. All of it was amazing and almost immediately cheered me up. I have been playing this series ever since, a faithful fan. I LOVED Mass Effect 3. Everything about it was perfect. Up until I got to the ending. Everything after the reaper beam perplexed me and confused me. This is not the kind of ending a Mass Effect game is supposed to have... My decisions, from all three games, had no bearing on the ending. I was forced to accept three endings that were pre written. The only difference between them is the minor changes made by how many war assests you get and how high your Galactic Readiness is. They took the closure away from me. Took what made Mass Effect unique away in the very end.

Mass Effect 3 was beautiful. It is only the endings that I do not like. This series is important to me. I don't want to see it end like this. Keelah Se'lai. Don't lose hope. There will be a better tomorrow.

I went back and did the synthesis ending...I found one, redeeming quality. Joker and EDI are together in it :)

Will probably go back and do the destroy option.

No retreat! No surrender! In the name of ME3, HOLD THE LINE!!!!

G'night folks.

I registered just to post this, I don't do forums but three hours after completing ME3 I still just feel sickened. I had a huge emotional investment in my characters and was looking forwarding to playing through the game with all of them but after that crap they call an ending I can't. I don't see playing any of the ME games again. Calling that mess a travesty is insulting to travesties. Derivative, Deus Ex/Matrix crap with absolutely no context. I find it hard to believe that a single human being who played and/or liked the franchise was in the room when they decided to put a burning slug into what was my favorite video game franchise. I'm not going to say how many Sheps I have because it's mildly embarassing but the amount of time and the emotional investment I had in this franchise were substantial. I'm less disappointed and more heart broken, Shame on you, those endings aren't just bad or insulting they are something far worse. Was that supposed to be artistic or clever or what? I'll tell you what it wasn't, it wasn't Mass Effect. Just disgusted.

To be honest I'm choosing the ending where Liara and I hijack the Normandy and fly off into the solar sunset.

There've been a few more than just this place, don't forget.  There's a guy at Forbes that we've managed to swing to our side, and there was at least one more than was already.

A few other sites are, too...just don't remember them off the top of my head.

And now good night for real!

Trying to pass the time between now, and when BioWare at least makes a statement about this.

GO.HERE. It's our page for the donations to Childs Play, a way for us to gain Positive reputation and to show we aren't petulant selfish whiners and to help a worthy charity, aid our cause and aid other gamers. More information on the charity is in that thread, so hurry, go,read, comment! Soon the donation will be available, done by a reputable service known as ChipIn. We've talked the talk but now? Now it's time we walk the walk, you all know me, I post only to try and keep the thread focused well now Im directing you at a new form of garnering support for us and lowering the chances of being brushed off.

Is there an alternate way to donate, such as a mail in? I'm 18 and I don't have a credit card or other means to transfer money online.

If you have a bank account, you can use pay pal =D, Pay Pal is the only way to donate. All the information is in the thread. If you can't donate, then spread  the word of the page and help me keep the focus in the mega threads. We can all do something to help the cause, money or not.

I get you intent, and I applaud you, but I can EASILY see how Bioware could use this to lock this thread.  Please keep it to your sig and the actual thread, for the sake of my own personal sanity?  Please?

Can't say I was too far away from something like that. Different time frames,  but there it is. Was a very nice release with the characters, lore, and universe. Then the ending shut it down, hard.

I'm certainly not going to buy any Bioware or EA game/dlc now. I don't see how they can treat their customers like this. So many factors contribute to what why they aren't treating their fans well.

I don't know, this makes it sound like they released the ending knowing it sucked. Like it was something nefarious. More than likely they were just too close to the project to see the quality of the ending objectively, as often happens with creators of some story. It's just amazing to me that they somehow managed a 99% success rate and then ran out of magic at the end.

I honestly don't know what to think, I was more or less expecting a downer ending, I don't think this series could of ended happy, especially with the dour, darker tone of ME3, but a literal Deus ex Machina, a god in the machine that makes you pick three fairly shallow endings, it just leaves me, well, hollow. Even if bioware would create post-credits DLC, and I dont think they will, I don't think it will do any good.

Those final 10-15 minutes made your past five years of choices meaningless. Makes you wonder why they bothered at all.

well if it were "only" EA and not their bioware sub-studio, i would say:

because they could make a lot of money (!) and didn't care that the franchise was ruined afterwards (why do i say that? - look up Command and Conquer, they ended that franchise in a way that makes me wish the EA-Bosses dropped dead a second before they decided to buy WESTWOOD!...well i am about to wish the same for bioware (and also for bioware-bosses to not be caught in the "big money"-trap...they should have turned the offer of EA down...them buying all the good studios and then ruining them for some quick buck...*shakes his head*....sorry, but that is a bad decision, economically, socially and just over all!)

instead i say:

EA rushed them - like with DA2 (it was worse with DA2 of course)...ME3 could have used a lot more polishing and bux-fixing and of course a better written and more thought out story (not cerberus trying to stop us, no crucible (we can't even "visit" the damned construction site or joind the earth fleet for raids or something, sorry, that makes this plot device even more bull-crap to me!), no "we can't win this conventionally", no udina being rougue (does not fit him IMHO...even if he is and ass!)....but well, we will not get that. Fixing the endings is the least they can do IMHO (rest just is no longer possible, but it enrages me non the less that they squandered the ME-Universe like that....)

greetings LAX

The more i think about the game, the worst it gets IMO.

First time i played it, it was truly awesome. 10/10. Then, the ending. I just couldnt believe how of a cheapshot that was. I know i might sound horrible, but i laughed at the scene when the child dies. I felt they were just trying TOO much to get to my heart. Also, my Shep was a War Hero, why isn't it his mother or something that dies. THAT would've been marking. But seeing some random kid? He probably saw a few thousands during the Batarian war... That didn't make any sense.

Then the fact that the Stargazers are walking in a forest, talking about the story, and OH SURPRISE your dream sequences are in some random forest, walking at night, with a child...

Also, i didnt feel the RPG side anymore. It was mostly a shooter, with Crying Moments, and some really not useful dialogues. Except the LI's, always nice...

The final scene with Liara I had she asked that basically, alluding that a ship could get lost in it all, could go off and live out the rest of their days in quiet.... trouble is the options were only "I'm happy where I'm at right now" and "I need some time alone".  I couldn't say I needed time alone.. Liara was my future wife and mother of my little blue shadow broker babies hahaha.

Do you really think those people even tried to understand the story? How many of them know what the mass effect is?
The point is, gamers today are mostly "pew pew headshot" and couldn't care less about a story. And those kind of people BW is trying (and unfortunatelly, successfully) to attract to play their games.
IGN staff is full of those douches.
