I think this thread needs my favourite Samwise Gamgee quote.

"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. Because they were holding on to something... There's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."

Tolkien wouldn't have sprung a god kid on his fans. Thats why he's a rockstar!  Just sayin.....

I'm off to get some sleep.

Hold the line for all the blue babies as well as your individual perfect endings.

I can't imagine that they would do something remotely dangerous. If they give in, they will follow the books on this, and at this point I will be happy. I just want an ending that let's me want to replay the game.

I just can't believe what we've seen so far is it.  Bioware has a history of incredible detail with their stories and kept it up through the first 99% of ME3.  Heck even the 'oh blue rose' Asari/Krogan couple made a brief apperance in ME3.  You don't spend time like that, adding in those small details, if your grand finale has plot holes wide enough fly the Citadel through.

Am I the only one that was very very sad when I realized who the dead Krogan was? :(

Personally, I don't understand how Bioware got ME3 out so fast after ME2 - I wish they'd taken more time, two more years say...

And sad thing is, is that the cruicible idea could've worked, but when they did it they screwed up and left us feeling like as Kenneth would say. "We just got kicked in the daddy bags."

Absolutely. I think we should have arrived in the Citadel, kicked more Reaper forces asses (not more Banshees, please), than be contacted by Harbinger (where the hell was he?). Make a choice, and then meet TIM. Get more choices, like joining forces and conquering all; sacrifice to kill them all with the crucible; use the crucible to kill the Reapers after one more fight with a version of TIM as happened to Saren; and then: maybe helping coordinate the final attack. I still think we should help with those decisions. Shep knows all races and cultures. Know the Rachni. He should decide who attacks from a distance; who is a shocktrooper etc. And maybe you could have even more different outcomes with those decisions. You would have a whole new galactic order with each decision.

And please, a complete story about what happened with everyone.

This. Because of the ending I have lost any desire to replay any of the games. I would also like to add that Mass Effect 1 and 2 are the only games that I have ever replayed (single-player). I have lost any and all desire to touch the 3rd one again unless something changes. Something that physically shows me the consequences of all the choices I have made in an epic battle sequence and/or epilogue.

Here's an edited ending someone made for ME3.

Would it be so hard to have made an ending like this?

And then just add a 10 second shot of Shepard waking up in a hospital bed with his/her love interest looking down at them, smiling.

Seriously - I work in videogames - that would only take a couple hours for one cinematic artist to do with assets they already have, at most.

Not at all. Bringing his message back to the asari was crushing. But in a good way. Sad can be good, done right. That's what kills me about this ending fiasco - Bioware can do a dark moment very, very well. They do it more than once in ME3.

So, I'm baffled as to how they could screw this up so badly.

Meh, thats just business. They wanted to get it out before their next financial quarter or something, to get some of those nice investors. They probably botched the thing, since they started losing stocks for getting the game out under pressure. I suppose.

Well they didn't have to make too many changes to the engine and combat this time if you compare ME1 and ME2. But yes, I would have prefered to have wait 6 months to 1 year to have a game that gives me closure, then to beat my favorite franchise ever and feel incomple/confused/emptiness.

It just blows my mind how ten minutes can ruin 3 games. It would be like everyone in the fellowship getting powned at the end of return of the king.

And they didn't need to make it from a scratch. The enginie, textures and models were basically the same. Actually, they concentrated their work on history and multiplayer. I think...

Close.  It would be more akin to Frodo dying as he throws the ring in, then the rest of the Felloswhip getting stranded at the border of Mordor and not being able to return because Tolkien got Alzheimer's and forgot which part to put the YOU SHALL NOT PASS.

At the last minute a god child pops out of the ring.

God child of the ring: Frodo you CAN control the ring all you have to do is jump in the lava with the ring over here and you will become one with it. Or if you don't like that you could jump into the lava with the ring over here and meld orc dna with everybody else creating a new species who I am sure will be peaceful and always get along. If you still aren't happy you can jump into the lava with the ring over here and make all the orcs explode possibly killing a bunch of your friends.

Frodo: can't I just throw the ring into the lava?

God child of the ring: No, that is ridiculous and not an option.

No the only way for Frodo to destroy the ring is for him to jump in the lava with it. Then Sam and Golem have magically teleported to the battle with Aragon, Gimli, Etc. They are all picked up by Gandalf and his eagles then the eagles run away from the exploding eye and all our favorite characters are stranded on an island with a single palm tree since all the eagles some how died . So tropical I know.

Still not over it since Thursday. Being on this thread the days just fly by. Granted I feel physically better and I have a little more appetite, but everyone I know still definitely notices how down I am all the time.

Same here, big presentation to give tomorrow, so this couldnt come at a worse time. I'm sure everyone has noticed my mood lately tho anyway.
