Hey guys we made Sxephil! For those who don't know Phil Defranco is a rather famous youtube blogger who manages a couple channels including 20 minutes or less. Obviously he disagrees with us a little and makes some excellent points here, about focusing on the journey. I think he missed the point where we all love the game... except for the ending but still pretty fair and balanced reporting for a three minute youtube video.

Watch it: Here

Also everyone get out there and put money into that chipin for Child's Play! $1000 usd? We can do better then that people! We can do ALOT better then that!

*goes and puts his money where his mouth is*

So, it looks like IGN's Colin Moriarty has made a video with his opinion on the endings, offering his "perspective"... which is basically just him telling us that we're just feeling entitled and spends the whole time basically bashing anyone who thought the ending sucked and would like to have more closure. Sigh.. just another paid off critic.

If he wanted to support his own theory of why it's fine, I'd have no problem with him. Instead, he ended up coming off like a jerk mocking those who are disappointed in what we got.

So I am not sure who has read thee codex, I am looking at it now. I am not sure if this was mentioned, but it plays right into indoctrination theory.

Codex--->The Reapers--->Indoctrination:
  • Organics undergoing indoctrination may complain of headaches and buzzing or ringing in their ears. As time passes, they have feelings of "being watched" and hallucinations of "ghostly" presences. Ultimately, the Reaper gains the ability to use the victim's to amplify it's signals, manifesting as "alien" voices in the mind.
This sells me on indoctrination theory, and tells me that the right choice is destroy everything, if that part is even real. I feel pretty strongly about getting a DLC from the point of Shepard's breathing now. Whether or not that sequence actually happened is another question.

With all the evidence piling up, there's got to be something going on that we don't know about. Hopefully we'll have more information soon.

The fact is that everything in the indoctrination part of the codex adds up and happens at some point in the game. Especially in the final sequence. The part I posted and bolded was the most convincing for me though.

So here I am, 5 days out. I think I'm finally getting the itch to start ME1 again. I kind of want to regain that innocence you get from the naive universe. But still, every time I consider it, I think of how it ends and wonder what the point is. Why can't I drill that out of my head? I know I love ME1. I know I would enjoy playing it. But the ending of a different game is sullying that?

It's so bizarre. I feel a bit embarrassed to be this affected by a video game.

I know.  I started coming here because I needed to vent everything that I saw wrong with the ending, and to talk with people feeling the same way.  Now that the greivances are all out in the open though, I keep sticking around, agonizing over whether this will be the day they finally say SOMETHING to us.

So, do you guys really think ea's drop at the stock exchange people are talking about here has to do with the Mass Effect ending? How come? Any evidence for that?

I will not pretend to understand 100% of how the stock market works but this is my opinion based on basic economics.

ME3 is supposed to be the biggest game out of the trilogy, which i would think is intended to be the biggest payoff for Bioware/EA at the moment. As mentioned in an earlier post, normally after a release this big the stocks of the company rises because investors attempt to profit from the huge sales (actual game sales or forecasted from dlcs, toys, etc) which pushes the stock value up. (closest i could think of would be how bungie's stock went up after halo was released)

Now imagine if have invested stock with EA. Days after the release, rumors come up of disgruntled fans about the game. Initially I would put that aside as a minor few who are not completely happy about the final product. Thats normal for any business, what I want is the long term profits. Then the week goes by and come monday, Im reading news about how last week's reaction has increased exponentially. For whatever reason I wouldnt really care aince I'm only interested in my take at the end of the day.
What would give me alarm is the rumors of preorders being cancelled, and product selling below retail. (a quick search  on amazon gave me ME3 product for less than 50$). That might convince me enough that something might have gone wrong and think about reinvesting my money elsewhere while it still has value. And I believe thats what 3% of investors just did yesterday

You are correct. Game Industry is not a wise investment for longterm. Investors also pay the most attention to customers...after all happy customer = $$$$. They also understand the customer. THEY were also the ones who thought Day 1 DLC was a bad idea before we even finished reading the article about it. They know consumers are never happy to have to pay extra for something that's intregal to something.

That 3% (not looking up stuff, sorry) are the millionaires, the rest are just the Y.U.Ppies that think they can play with the big boys.

Don't worry, it happened to all of us here, nothing to feel bad about. I even cancelled my classes on Friday cause I just wasn't up to giving any lectures. As to ME1 I feel the same way, I tried starting a new shepard, but as soon as I got to the beacon on Eden Prime everything felt hopeless.

Yeah, with the way the child disappeared in the beginning without a sound, I have to wonder if the indoctrination process manifests itself in different ways in different people. Maybe the child never was there and it was just the beginning of Shepard starting to finally succumb.

There are a lot of hints throughout that Shep is starting to fall apart, especially after Thessia. The talks with Garrus, Tali and even Joker go along to way showing just how human Shepard is.

Still a lousy way to end it. If they do have plans to continue through an expansion or DLC, then fine, but it still doesn't change the lack of closure at the end. Throwing in an ending like that and then expecting people to pay for the true end to the series will work financially in the short-term, but it would alienate a lot of fans from trying future projects in fear of having to pay 100 dollars for games that once cost 60, just to have a complete game.

Guys, be very wary of donations appearing around controversies. More often than not, they are scams. Not saying that it is (haven't checked) but just be careful.

And, yes Bioware continues to treat us like fools. Surprises are great, but when the Surprisee demands to know if there's a surprise and shows obvious signs of anger the Surpriser should "drop the act" and come clean.

Right now the best thing that could happen is for Bioware to release a FREE DLC that finishes the story and LESS THAN 1% of the ME3 players download it. And less than 10% of Bioware's fanbase continue to buy their games.

Total, unadulterated, BACKFIRE

Surprise, Bioware! Guess you should have spoken directly when this topic went to page 2; instead of speaking cryptic--that just pissed people off even more.
