A tragic ending can be a good ending. Maybe not everyone wants a tragic ending, but not all stories can end this way. A tragic ending that has meaning can speak volumes. I could go on and on, but I think we all know our own hearts. Let us keep pushing on, showing Bioware that we love their game enough to ask for an ending that doesn't take away what Shepard and everyone means to us.
This. I'm fine with tragic endings. When I played through to the end of Halo:Reach, and realized there was no dropship coming for me and I was going to go down swinging, I was okay with that. I was heartbroken watching the movies "Glory", "Braveheart" and "Saving Private Ryan", with their tragic endings, but it made sense, and was true to the characters and the continuity of the story each told.
These endings really make me want to tell the Dev team...

I thought it was going to be some sort of EMP that would work on and only target the Reapers.

Halo Reach is a great example of how do a downer ending and so is another game Shadow Hears Conveant... which also poses a interesting question..
Would you rather die who you are with memories of eveyone, friends, family, lovers, joys and sorrow or would live you life as hollow shell of the person you are gone just a living body.
Those are examples of how you do tragic endings.
Especially Reach because it shows why the rally cry was always "Remember Reach"

Good question, although if you look at the definition of crucible, it makes you wonder...
cru·ci·ble n.[/i]1. A vessel made of a refractory substance such as graphite or porcelain, used for melting and calcining materials at high temperatures.2. A severe test, as of patience or belief; a trial. 3. A place, time, or situation characterized by the confluence of powerful intellectual, social, economic, or political forces:
Hmmm......

its just that tragic ending doesn't fit the whole universe. For two games you have defied the odds, challenged everything that got in your way, refuse to lie down and simply accept things. Yet now you're forced to make one of three options? I' m not saying that a tragic ending shouldn't be there but a happy one should be there too. I'm willing to fight for the happy one
