So we can't get the ending we want after all?

She pointed out that if this game had been released with a gamebreaker bug at the final push to the beam there would be no discussion at all that we are owed a correction for free. NONE. It would be a basic assumption that we were ripped off. EA/Bioware would be scrambling to put out fires and release a patch. But because the problem is on a narrative level instead of a technical one we're being ridiculed for "entitlement" and daring to question an artist's vision.
Now, obviously the quality of narrative is inherently more subjective than programming errors, but when 35 thousand people come forward about the endings in a single week there is a problem equal in magnitude to a gamebreaker. How many times have we heard "I'd like to see you write a better ending! You aren't a writer, so you can't judge!" (well, I'm a literary theorist and I most certainly can judge, but that's beside the point) just within the last two weeks? Now think of how many times you've heard "I'd like to see you build a game engine! You aren't a programmer, so you can't complain about these bugs!" in relation to a game. Never? Me neither.
People have wonky priorities. I find this narrative disaster far worse than if the game crashed during the Hammer push. ...I kinda wish it had just to spare me seeing that ending.

The end is a lie. I doubt the writers just went brain dead for the last 10 minutes of the game. The hallucination/indoctrination theory makes sense, especially since the "best" endings have Shep waking up back in London. There's either going to be DLC or another game.
I have to agree. It's totally incongruous. They put so much effort into the rest of ME3 (which I thought was a great job) and yet they totally phase out at the end? Too many inconsistencies in one place. it's looking more and more like BW are up to something. I hope I'm right and it's not just wistful thinking.
"Oh, blue rose of illium,"
I know they detail. I trust Bioware and I think they'll see this through. I've never pre-ordered a game before, especially not 7 months before it comes out. It was my act of good faith to Bioware.
So here's to hoping they don't break that.

THIS is our challenge - are we so fickle as to allow this to just blow over and we all go back buying Bioware and EA all over again? Will we just fade away? Can we hold the line as long as it takes? THIS is our challenge!
I will fight this fight even if it takes me ten years - I will never stop demanding a better ending where my Sheppard and crew/L1 receives a chance at some happiness! And I will never buy another BW or EA product until this goal is achieved! PERIOD!

Ok even if this is shepard being indoctrinated or whatever and the "true" ending is him taking that breath, this still is very sloppy on Biowares end.
The theory goes that if you chose to destroy the reapers, they could not complete the indoctrination and if there really was an expansion planned from the begining, it will continue from Shepard's breath. The indoctrination took place in a dream state whilst he was knocked out in laying in rubble in London so none of it really happened.
As I said already if it was planned to be a 2 part game as a huge surprise, it would be one of the most amazing things ever but if that was the case I would have expected something indicating this. If I had some kind of hint that the game was going to continue in an expansion (much much preferred to some short sh!tty DLC imho) it would have been breathtaking.
Again the more I think about it the more the indoctrination makes sense to me. One thing I wondered when playing ME3 after realising early on that T.I.M had to be indoctrinated was how did Shepard avoid it all those years with all the contact he had with the Reapers and their minions? All the exposure to multiple artifacts? The Prothean beam we now know was not actually Prothean? It would make sense. Why oh why BioWare, if this is all true did you not tell us at the end? If it was meant to end the way it did and Shep DID become indoctrinated, an epilogue telling us THAT would have been pretty fu**ing nice too.

It is quite obvious Boiware has received advice from a trouble-shooting PR firm. I follow politics and am very familiar with the trouble-shooting PR firms strategy - which is - wait it out and the uproar will die out on it's own. Just sit it out with no comment, very vague comment, or find a reason not to comment. Very sound strategy - outrage usually blows itself over in approximately two to three weeks - life itself forces folks to move on.

The lead developer just retweeted someone bashing us.
Sigh. I don't mean that offensively, btw. Just bringing it to light.
